Il était une fois, Once upon a time, Es war einmal…

Castmember: Me and my BF
When: 19.November 2008 – 22.November 2008 (Wednesday to Saturday)

Although this was already the 16 trip for us it was one of the best. Christmas is just the best season at DLRP. There was so much decoration, music, shows and special events going on – it was just like in a dream. And the only word that comes to my mind to describe the whole trip is “magical”.
I am a huge Christmas fan and I love Christmas decoration but even for me it was almost too much decoration. I can not understand if someone says that there is not enough decoration. :confused3 All hotels are decorated, every Inch of Mainstreet is covered, there is a Christmas Village at Frontierland (which looks great in the dark), Smallworld has a Christmas décor and so on and so on. Even the Studios are lovely decorated (which is not the same at Halloween).

This trip was one of the best because we had an almost empty park from Wednesday to Friday and the weather was perfect for November. We even had two sunny days and no rain or even wind.

We arrived on Tuesday evening and slept the first night at the Hotel Cheyenne which I booked for 80€ via Expedia. This is a great deal for a Disney Hotel. The last time I stayed at the Cheyenne was in 1995 and I fell in love with the hotel all over again. The only fact that I don’t like is that not everything is in one building.
Our room looked brand new; it must have been refurbished only some weeks ago.

We started the Wednesday early with breakfast at the Cheyenne and checked into the Sequoia Lodge at 8:30. Afterwards we headed to the park for EMH.
But before we left I had to take a picture of this beautiful shop window at the SL.

There is nothing more moving then walking down Mainstreet on the first day of your visit especially if it looks like this.

Our first ride this morning was PP and here you can see us waiting.

We had a great first day at the two parks and as soon as the darkness set in the real magic starts.

First thing in the dark was our Dinner at Plaza Gardens. I wanted to book Walt’s for the first day but it was closed. But the Plaza Gardens was also a very nice experience once again.

Right after this delicious buffet it was time for Candleabration and only 40 minutes later followed by Fantillusion. I love Fantillusion and I was very happy that this parade was this year also in November every evening and not only on Weekends like 2007.
We had a great spot in front of the Castle and so we could see even two stops. Unfortunately my pictures were not too good but here are a few.

Right after the parade the park closed and I used my tripod for some pictures in the dark.

Don’t we have the most beautiful Castle of them all? During our 4 days I often stopped at Mainstreet and only watched the Castle.

At 8pm we returned to the hotel and we had luck because we got the table in front of the fireplace at the bar.

After two drinks at the bar we returned to our room. We had a Montana Room with a lovely view of the Castle. The glitter effect of the Castle was working until 10pm. And so I sat in my bed and watched the Castle again for some minutes.

To be continued….

what a great first day. your pics are just stunning. cant wait to go back now

Ok here goes and I hope this is right!

Ein sehr guter bericht, Danke.

I have to say Marcus that I am one of those who said that Christmas, for me, was not as good as Halloween.

I'm thinking maybe I should give Christmas another go, midweek in November this time rather than a weekend in December. maybe I would have thought it was more magical then.

I went off-peak for Halloween and Peak for Christmas, maybe that was an unfair comparrison that Christmas was never going to win.

Thank you for all your nice comments.

And @ Jack: Maybe that is a little bit unfair.
Between 2000 and 2006 we have almost only been on Halloween and we loved it every time because the only time we were on Christmas was New Years Eve 2003 and the park was to bussy during these 3 days. But now we have been 2007 and 2008 in November during the week and we just fell in love with Christmas Season at DLRP.
As much as I love Halloween at DLRP if we will go again at the end of this year it will be Christmas and not Halloween.

And by the way: Are you German because there is not one mistake in your sentence. :thumbsup2

Marcus what beautiful photos.

You said the castle was switched on with lights till 10pm did they turn them off after? I always thought they was left on all night?

I also thought that the "glitter" effect was on the whole night long but during the week they switched it off at 10pm and after 10pm there were only the standard castle lights working. These are the same lights that they also use during the rest of the year.

I think the glitter effect is very very expensive and as almost no one can see the lights after park has closed I also think that it is better to switch them off.

Oh i agree, I can see why they wouldnt be kept on all night.

I just have a lovely vision of them being on all night and twinkling away in the night while we are all sleeping.:cloud9:
