Also, now that I'm engaging in this voyage.

I shall soon start to post my requirements for acceptable social intercourse.

Oh lord....are you dragging out the Edwardian Gentleman's guide again? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I also suffer from CRS...hence the pile of little pieces of notepaper next to my computer. One of which contains Cheri's home phone number that will EVENTUALLY get progammed into my cell phone.

Ooooh I really like the purple one...   And the price is very nice... :thumbsup2

Please continue to post such top quality techno-tips...

I have a feeling you might see several of the purple ones on our cruise!

"Rules of Etiquette and Home Culture or What To Do And How to Do It," copyright 1907 is my constant companion and my steady friend. It has helped me navigate the sometime treacherous waters of social intercourse, and has often saved me from embarrassment.

I quote from the opening chapter, "American Etiquette," thusly:

"To estimate the real value of etiquette, decorum, or good manners, is to measure the breadth and scope of modern civilization. That culture only is valuable which smooths the rough places, harmonizes the imperfections, and develops the pure, the good and gentle in human character. The revenge of the savage, the roughness of the barbarons, and the rudeness of even some who claim to be civilized, are all lost in the good will and suavity of gentle manners."

Let us take our lead from these indeed, lofty ideas.

So, I'm warning you broad, don't make fun of my Edwardian Gentlemen's etiquette books (and yes, I have more than just one.)

I was fortunate to have a wonderful copy of Vogue's Book of Etiquette, copyright 1948, which I got when my grandmother passed away. It is extremely detailed and quite enlightening regarding how "things were done" at the time. I love browsing through it. It is 658 pages long. Some sections are: Manners, Ceremonies & Events, Weddings, Household Customs, Furnishing a House, Entertaining, Correspondence, and Clothes. I can only imagine what something from 1907 would say.

I just noticed that the old thread is still linked on the master list that IrishCowboy had generously put together. Any way to update that to the new thread?

I think Irish Cowboy always shows the link to the FIRST thread for any meet. Then each thread should have a link to it's next 'home'.

I am glad someone had a response for this as I had no idea what it meant. I have a link to thread ONE at the bottom of Post ONE and this thread is POSTED in one of the last posts on the last page of the old thread. I sure hope that is OK. If we need to do something else, let me know because I have no clue.

Jan

Yuck, that sounds horrible enough for one day let alone a week. Glad you are feeling better!

Donna

:grouphug: Sorry you've been so sick Deb, but glad you're on the mend now.
Kathe

Glad you are feeling better Deb!

Well, got one piece of business settled for this trip...where our signature dining will be during the pre cruise WDW stay....CITRICOS. :woohoo: Can't wait to try it.

Oh, Kathe....remember what I PM'd you about...well the rest of the team is A-OK with that plan should I have to go to the Hyatt. :thumbsup2

Got the first vacation of the year booked today. :yay: A week in Chicago in May to play with sister Dianne, Cheri (who will be dog sitting for Ian & Sukie part of the time) and Ian & Sukie when they return from their WDW vacation. If three Tortolians gather in the same place.....does that make it a DIS MEET?

.

WOW--sounds like you had it worst of all. Sarah had vomiting and ~~~ (you know) so bad she was hospitalized and on IVs as she could keep nothing down. When the rest of us got it we were living in the bathroom, thank goodness we did not have the migrains and head spins! Each of us had it for 24 to 48 hours. So sorry you got it so bad.

Good to see you now. How are you doing? How is the leg?
Jan

Thanks so much Donna, Kathe, Jackie and Jan.

Jackie, YES it's definitely a DIS meet!!!

Jan, the legS are both now infected again. Just finished a double batch of antibiotics. Gotta get back to the doctor again soon and see what he says.

Hi Kathe!!!!!!!!
Looking forward to seeing you in Sept. I will love to buy you a DOD or something to thank you for playing nurse for me the day I was injured.:sad1 I am supposed to be the nurse.!

Hi Vicki. I'm really looking forward to seeing you in Sept too! But you don't owe me anything, I really didn't do much, I just felt so bad that you were hurt...and then you weren't there to fan me with your lovely hat to keep me cool ;) Good thing there wasn't any blood :scared1: I would NOT make a good nurse! I am really looking forward to getting reaquainted

OK, I am beginning to engage in this trip.

And more importantly, what night should it be held on?

Let me know. I'll be in my office.

I'm in :thumbsup2 :cool1:
Deb, did we decide on a day for the Champagne girls? I've forgotten! I don't think I could handle both on the same day :lmao:

Kathe

OMG! Cheri was awake at 4:something AM! :scared1: Oh wait....she probably hadn't gone to bed yet. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Morning Tortolians....had a dream about us all last night, even those of you I haven't met. (Your parts were 'played' by celebrity guest stars.) We were having lots of fun at the embarkation day DIS meet and were late for muster drill....we got in big trouble...so I woke up to avoid confronting authority!:rotfl:

Did I ever tell you the story of when me and John actually were late to the muster drill. We did indeed get in trouble. When we returned to our stateroom later that day we received a very nice nasty letter from DCL scolding us. We were never late to another one after that.

Thanks so much Donna, Kathe, Jackie and Jan.

Deb, I'm sorry to hear about your legs :sad2:  It's time for those to heal already!!!

Kathe

Well, John, you know we will....because I know EXACTLY where to find you two....near the pool, BBC in hand! :thumbsup2

OK, here's a Question of the Day for everyone:

Where will you be staying the night before the cruise?

My family plan is to all stay together at the Hyatt...but I think there will be discussion later on to see if anyone else is coming early for a visit to WDW pre-cruise. Peg and Jose are thinking of staying after the cruise to see Cape Canaveral and Epcot. I'm hoping to convince them to do Epcot pre-cruise and Cape Canaveral post-cruise. Now, if anybody has DVC points to rent and I could get them into BC or Boardwalk Villas THAT would help! :lmao:
I remember Peg enjoyed our stay for one night at Animal Kingdom, even without a park visit....and Magical Express from the airport is free....and we could then do group transportation to the port with some DIS pals....limo/mini van/private bus. How am I doing on the 'persuasions'?

Well you have us down now don't you!!! Cheers!

We'll be spending two nights in Cocoa Beach before cruise as usual. We'll see Sandi/DD and Joe/DSIL and Kris/DGS one night and go to Fishlips the next night. I'll get my mani/pedi at my favorite place and we can get all of our last minute errands and banking done before getting on board. Also, it's a short ride to the boat in the morning. I HAVE to get there early.

We usually do WDW after cruise. Although we'll be doing a B2B so I'm not sure we'll have enough time or money to do World after this time. It's worth it getting to do a B2B instead.:dance3:

Shots Around the Ship and Champagne Girls....definately NOT the same day!

We can probably wait till the April Tortola group has come back to pick our days. That way we'll know which days are which 'themes' etc. Then we can decide on that before the June 90 day booking window for Palo and stuff. Hope that April group knows just how much all the rest of us are counting on them!

.

Thanks Marilyn..it's been probably 10 years since we had an annual pass, so I guess that's why I didn't know about the TIW card. Sounds like it could be useful if we get an annual pass again.:thumbsup2 Congrats on the TA in Sept 2010. Had thought about that myself.

Hi John, good to see you here also. My wrist is much better than the last time you saw me:yay: , but not quite back to normal-if that is even possible. But I learned a valuable lesson about patience while I was healing, not to mention a renewed:hug: (sympathy) & admiration for everyone who has struggles like that everyday and manages.

So glad you're on the mend and remember that everything happens for a reason so you have learned your lesson well. It will help you in your field as a nurse, I'm sure.

Thanks for the info. I am not sure what kind of meal "deals" we will have, if any. I have done the dining plan numerous times in the past when it was called "the grand plan" or something like that. It used to include 3 sit down meals with appetizers, entree, and dessert, with 2 or 3 snacks a day. Plus it used to allow access to the concierge floor even if you weren't staying there. Like I said-it was a long time ago. Now we don't eat that much (except for desserts);) so I think the flexible plan would be better for us.

Welcome back Debbie-hope you continue to feel better. I started posting again, because our trip is coming up soon:woohoo: and it's time to plan. Can't wait for the Champagne Girls....will you let us know how much we owe you for whatever ?

I can't wait to do the Champagne Girls with everyone on this cruise! We'll all pay onboard because we'll purchase what we need from DCL this time. It will depend on how many our final head count is....we'll split the bar bill. I already have our tiara and boas. Those are my gifts to you all. Just remember to wear pink for your picture!!!

:cool1:
 :yay: :dance3: :wave2:  :flower3:

Hi! I'm here! Cheri, age 59 (at the moment), late dining, FE, looking forward to 3 weeks with some of my favorite people!!!

Hi Cheri!!! We came very close to visiting Arizona in Feb. It would have been way down in Tucson for the jewelry show, but we would have traveled around the state some. We had to change our plans because Greg's having surgery in a couple of weeks. We are going to Vegas instead in April.

I hope everything is ok.....with Greg having surgery. No matter what, surgery is no fun whatever you're having done. Give him our best and let him know that we're thinking of him during this time.

Hi Jackie...we don't have definite plans, but would like to do either military discount at SOG, or buy 4, get 3 free at one of the resorts.

Hi Kathe!!!!!!!!
Looking forward to seeing you in Sept. I will love to buy you a DOD or something to thank you for playing nurse for me the day I was injured.:sad1 I am supposed to be the nurse.!

Sorry for being so wordy....Vicki

Never apologize for sharing thoughts and feelings with us. I say.....the wordier the better!!!

Jan, on the 'stickey' section of the cruise line forum is a list of Wonder and a list of Magic meets threads with a link to each one. IrishCowboy takes care of it and makes it very easy to find if there is aleady a thread for a cruise you have just signed up for.

Once, a while back, when I was trying to decide about a possible cruise...I looked at the links for several 'option dates' to see if anybody I knew was aleady booked on one of the cruises! :lmao:

Your persuasions are all brilliant!!! :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: AND make perfect sense IMO... ;) Dick and I will be somewhere on DVC property - currently have VWL booked but hope to change to an EPCOT resort OR SSR in Feb... :thumbsup2

I am in a BRILLIANT mood - just booked 3 tickets for DH, DS and myself to see Orlando Magic play the Knicks in April!!! That's going to be such a cool experience - can't wait!!! Also found out that it's Mardi Gras at Universal Studios when we're staying there which sounds like great fun - will probably see Trace Adkins perform too... :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: OMG I love vacation planning... :cloud9:

Hi Kaz, it all sounds like such fun.....and I agree that vacation planning is great but what's even better is vacation doing.;)

YES, me and John will be there.....just don't have it on Sunday Sept 13 because that's when the Champagne Girls are going to try to get together. Any other day is fine. But better if it's a sea day the next day. Getting up early for an excursion the day afterwould be rough.

Deb, I'm sorry to hear about your legs :sad2:  It's time for those to heal already!!!

Kathe

I'm with you Kathe....this started in the spring of 07....that's too long already. And we had one healed for over a year and then it got infected again. I don't know what causes it and how to completely heal them. I've been in and out of the hospital already with them. I hope I don't have to go back into the hospital again. We'll see what the wound doctor says.
