May 23, 2009 (5/23/09) E. Caribbean w/Tortola

I've been playing around on my web site and found a "forum" area. There used to be a chat area but they changed it to a forum. If we want to set up a place for the kids to chat we can do it there, if you guys want to.

Also I can post anything else there as well...such as FE names, any organized plans and group excursions...that way they won't get lost here:thumbsup2

You do have to sign up there with an email address...and then you can use your profile name from here so we all know who is talking. I signed up my son to see what it would look like.

Let me know what you think. I don't want it to take away from posting here...just thought it might work for the kids and any main info.

Oh, and I CAN make it private on there (it's not right now...since I'm just messing around). Only people who have the link can get to it...that way it would be a bit more safer for the kids. I can post the link in my signature here or something that way we all can get to it.

Tyler (15) and Toby (13) are very much interested in the scavenger hunt. :thumbsup2

Will have to gather our pirate bandanas pirate: from 2005, just to be on the safe side.

DH just bought himself a new kilt for the cruise :rolleyes1

I can research some stuff for a scavenger hunt and some stuff for the teens to do and once we have an idea of how many will participate we can make a list of items :)

Maybe we should do one for the younger kids too ;)

I'd be interested in one for the younger kids too but wouldn't know how to go about organizing. I'd be willing to help though.

I've been meaning to post this but keep forgetting. A fellow DISer from our 2006 cruise went on a Wonder cruise over Christmas. He said that DCL is making some cut-backs & that the pirate bandanas are no longer being given out on pirate night. We'll have to remember to bring our old ones ... saw Emily's the other day ... will have to see if I can find the others.

Stacey, do you remember what else Jim said they cut back on? I know there was something else.

I just got off the Wonder yesterday morning. They gave us pirate bandanas. Not sure about the Magic though.:)

No more streamers at Sail Away. Plus he said they would be making more cuts, but trying to do them in areas where the guests won't notice.
Yeah, maybe not FIRST TIME guests, but the underestimate past cruisers!!
:rotfl:

Less mess for them to clean up too.:rotfl:
With the prices of Disney cruises compared to other lines they shouldn't have to cut anything:lmao:

I'm signed up!!!! Great idea!

Hope everyone has a great weekend! I made pancakes this morning and DS actually tried them and liked them! (i have a wierd son...LOL...I say that in a very loving, motherly way!!) SO now I can make him Mickey Pancakes! ha!

Anyways...since the holidays are now behind us....who wants to talk about a Fish Extender Exchange? I can keep up a list...but I'm not to sure what else is involved in this. Anyone with experience want to lead us in the right direction? :teacher:

ETA: I've udated the cruise list. I've added GoofyGirl 27 and her grandmother to the list. I don't think she posted here yet (i got a PM from her), but they'll be on the cruise. Welcome Jenn and her grandmother Jane!!

We've got a lot of "Goofy" people cruising this time! :-)

Well, on my last cruise. these were the basic steps:

1. Decide on the "rules" - we did one drop-off for the whole cruise to each cabin and did not set a price limit. Some did more than one drop off but those were extra-generous people. Some gifts were one "thing" for the cabin, regardless of the number there, some contained one "thing" for each person.
2. Start a list of people participating. Set a cut-off date for joining in so that people know how many they'll need in enough time.
3. Include in the list the children in the group - ages and genders, in case people want to "personalize" the gifts.
4. Shop/make gifts!
5. Someone can make a map of the cruise ship with the cabins of each participant (once everyone knows them) - it REALLY makes the drop-off easier. Some people feel more comfortable PM-ing their cabin numbers to the organizer, so that their cabin number isn't posted for everyone in the world to see.
6. Bring the gifts on the ship and deliver!

Oh, and everyone will need to make/buy a fish extender of course! Haha!

Heather, since you're keeping the main cruise list, it might make sense to just add a column to that for now to indicate if people want to participate?

Thanks for all the info Amy!!

I wish I could add a column to the list...but the spread sheet is limited on there...maybe I can color code the names and add a FE next to the names of anyone who wants to participate!!!

So....Who wants to sign up for the Fish Extender Exchange??

Just post here and I'll add you to the list. If you haven't already given me the names and ages of everyone (ages for kids) post here or send me a PM. Also we'll need everyone's State Room #'s. Like Amy mentioned...if you feel more comfortable, just send me your room # in a PM (i won't post it on the cruise list on my web page).

Also I guess we should decide on the "rules". Any ideas/suggestions?

Any ideas for a cut off date to sign up?

Count us in! It was fun to come back to the cabin and see what had been left. Looking forward to doing it again this time. :cool1:

I've got you guys signed up. I got your pm wmjivey! Thanks!

On the cruise list, everyone's names that are BLUE are in the FE exchange. I also added a *FE* at the bottome of the persons names/ages.

Does anyone have pictures of FE??
What kinda things have people left _ I have never been on a cruise that have done this.

I guess I will start keeping a list of the teens interested in taking part in the scavenger hunt so if you want you can email me with their names and age.
