January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part V

Catching up with the new thread! My son wore his new Mickey pj's tonight and said, "Mommy, I have a good idea. We should bring these pj's to Disney World!" Well of course we should! He's so cute in them I wish he could wear them in the park. Hey there's an idea- Pajama Day at Disney!
You can see pics of my kids in their mickey and minnie pj's in my pretrip report!
Have a great night!

Thanks!!
I leave you people for 8 hours and you ditch me?!?!? :rotfl: PLUS up to page 5 already!?!?

Ok, Hello everyone!

Well we made an executive decision to drive down to Milwaukee tomorrow night. They are supposed to get some snow over night, and frankly, I just want to be down there so we don't have to deal with the driving and stuff.

Alright, I need to grab some dinner and finish up my last minute stuff!

If you're almost there, then *I'm* almost there!!!

I went and looked for bathing suits today. Who knew that Michigan didn't have a huge demand for them in January? :confused3 Okay, I kid, I didn't expect much different. JC Penny had a few, but they started at $70 and for a swimsuit I might not wear? No thanks!

Then I get home and get a gift card to JCP for my birthday, from my aunt... but it's still expensive, even at $50. Plus, er, it probably wasn't supportive enough. TMI. Sorry!

Getting SO excited - I can't wait!!

I can't believe we leave next friday!
I am trying to make a list of things to still buy but I think we are ok.

Are most of you taking swimming things? I don't think we are...I'm sure OL has a heated pool(they have like 4 pools on the property) but I don't think we'll have time.

~~Anyone heard if the sickies are still going around at WDW? I am terrified we are going to catch it.

Ok, gotta run....just dropping in so I can still be a part of this board!!:goodvibes

I am, too - and am so not a swimmer. But I figure that it doesn't take up a lot of room and I would regret not having it if we have really warm weather.

Hi Guys!! Well we are here and having a wonderful time:banana:

The weather is perfect...70's- low 80's during the day and low 60's at night. .the crowds are a bit heavier than I thought they would be. Wait times for the big attractions were about an hour but with FP its ok. I am hoping tomorrow will be a little quieter at MK. We have an early ressie in Crystal Palace at 8am and then plan to be first in line for dumbo;)

We are so happy at the Animal kingdom Villas. We have a full kitchen, master bedroom with a king bed, and a HUGE bathroom. I think it is bigger than my daughters bedroom at home.

Well..I just wanted to check in. I am almost jealous of you guys who haven't left yet. My husband is already asking when we can come back:thumbsup2

 Thanks for the greetings and I'm so glad you guys are having fun. Hopefully, all the schools will start back soon so you'll have fewer lines. Enjoy [and I'm glad I'm on the tail end of the month, too - so I can prolong the post - Disney blues]

Wow... weather sounds great... glad you are having a nice time.... can I borrow your DH.... mine is not a Disney fan.... he only goes when I beg him... he never ASKS to go....:rotfl2:

Hi, Wendy - I wanted to say this back in Part IV but we had already moved. Your family picture is beautiful! And it sure *looks* like your DH is having fun...

Ha - we've been talking about buying Mickey PJs and wearing them in the parks, too - and most of us are adults! So, if you see some folks wearing pjs in WDW in less than three weeks....

And, I've FINALLY gotten around to subbing to everyone's PTRs! I apologize for taking so long! Can't wait to read them....

Goodnight everyone!! Thanks for all your help on the t-shirt stuff. I think I'm going to ask for one of the Disigners to make us one for the cruise. I liked Crzyrd's Experience the Magic, and thought we could change Magic to Wonder, since that's the ship we're going on. Do you think that would work?

Man, it would have been so much simpler (and cheaper) if I never saw everyone else's cool shirts!! Now I have less than three weeks to do them!

See you all tomorrow! Same Disney Time, Same Disney Channel!

Hey all,
I need some emotional support. I"m sure I'm TOTALLY freaking out over nothing, but we were talking about the whole John Travolta's son's death, and that Kawasaki Disease that he had (not necessarily related to his death), Keaton has had about 4 of the symptoms in the past few weeks. PROBABLY all unrelated, but I called the Dr and he wants to do a full work up tomorrow, blood work and all. I'm freaking out a bit, MAINLY because the hospital we're at, although hubby works there, its a "smaller" hospital and frankly, I don't trust the people to stick him! He's chubby so he's a very hard stick, and even the RN's at the specialist we see tried 4 times to get blood, and they're EXPERTS!

Poor baby! I'm 'hard to stick' too and, even as an adult, this is really painful.

I don't know about this disease - all I can offer are lots of these :grouphug: :grouphug:   :grouphug: :grouphug:

Chatty! Part V??? WOW! I'm glad I found you! I nearly got left in the dust over there!:lmao:

We are up to our (Mickey) ears in t-shirts! We've only got 3 more to finish and I love how they are turning out! The kids have no idea we're making them, and instead of giving them to them before we go, I'm going to pack them and surprise them each morning with a new t-shirt! Isn't that FUN?:thumbsup2 I only made 2 for the adults, but I've got 5 for the kids. Plus the Disney Store t-shirt I bought, that covers almost every day. I think they're gonna love the shirts and seeing their names on some of them.

Dingbat me, I made too many iron-ons! :hippie:

I leave for Disney in just 3 days!!!!!! Gah! I can't believe it!

peanut...thanks for the live update! How FUN to hear from someone who is there!

Holy Cow!! Ya'll shocked me with that move!!! Yes, I am on here in the middle of the night! Went to bed with a slight headache--now I think it's a migraine:scared1: I took some PMs,so I am just waiting for that to kick in--I will be better in the morning if I can get some solid sleep. Kinda nauseated right now-darn headaches.
Yippee for all of you there or heading out today/tomorrow!!!

Peaches.... I can see it now... t-shirts all over the place... kind of reminds me of an I Love Lucy Show.... you with the iron... slaving over the steam... with t-shirts tossed all around... kids running everywhere......:rotfl2:

not saying yours was like that.... but its a funny thought.....

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm going to pack it!! I doubt I'm going to use it...but I will pack it LOL:rotfl:

We're taking ours! And I can't wait - it's 25 here with freezing rain. The roads are a MESS! It took us a bit longer to get to work this morning, but we left earlier, too. If it's 60 - we'll be in that new CBR pool!

My DD12 has Crohn's Disease in which she has to have infusions at a large hospital in Madison, WI. We go to a pediatric floor, so you would think the nurses are trained in IV placement...well my daughter is a Hard stick everytime and the nurses just don't believe me. If they don't get what they need on the 1st stick, request an (I might spell this wrong)Anastegiolist...you have the right to ask. My DD also has to hold my hand because I "take the hurt away"...whatever the results are...in the end it will be fine:hug:

Great to hear a Snowbird's trip is going well and the weather is so nice! Have fun..tell Mickey I'll be there soon!

I hope everything goes smoothly and the results aren't anything too serious.

I'm starting my tshirts today...hopefully the experience won't look like a scene from I Love Lucy!

You're definitely in my prayers. The waiting is the worst. How soon do you think there will be results?

Good morning all! After quite a few weeks off from work, I'm heading back into retail land today. I'll miss you all! Have a gread day!

I think at the Disney restaurants but not ones like T-Rex or Rainforest.

Thanks! Like I said, I think I already knew this, but I just wanted to make sure!

See, now...there's a reason the shirts were created over the course of 2 nights while the little people in this house slept. I tell myself it's because I wanted to surprise the kids, but really it's because I know the chaos that ensues when my kids are awake during one of my creative endeavors!:lmao:

Just 2 more days. But we head to my sister's house tomorrow evening. She lives closer to the airport. So, I've got to finish packing today. And take down the Christmas tree. And go to a ladies' meeting at the church. And visit my Na-na and help her burn her trash. And get to Walmart one more time. Oi.

Did I mention that I neglected to notice one piece of pertinent information when booking our flight out of Allentown, PA? Yeah...we are taking a BUS from Allentown to Newark!!!!!!:scared1: I read "bus service" and assumed they meant air taxi. I was talking to my sister yesterday and she mentioned that when she flew Allentown/Newark/Orlando, she got put on a bus and never noticed it was written on her itinerary. As soon as she said that she got put on a bus back to Allentown a lightbulb went on in my head.

WE'RE RIDING A BUS FROM ALLENTOWN TO NEWARK AND BACK!

The real kicker? On the way back we have a 3 hour layover in Newark! 3 hours to sit in Newark and wait for a BUS! In 3 hours we could be not just to Allentown, but actually home in our town!

Go ahead. Laugh at me. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2: :lmao:

I was nervous to tell my mom. We had a missions meeting at church last night, so I told her in front of the group. Oh, boy, did we all laugh hysterically! That way Mom couldn't flip out to badly at the idea of being on a bus for 1 1/2 hours with 4 kids to Newark. :lmao:

Apparently I did not get enough of this action when booking our flight.:surfweb: Need me some more coffee!

Carrie... that was smart thinking to tell her in front of the group..... look at it as quality time that you can plan and then talk about all the wonderful things on your Disney trip.......:rotfl2:

seriously... it will be fine....:moped: :drive: :car:

Thanks for checking in! :cool1: So glad you are having a fabulous trip. Hope the crowds clear out for you today! :wizard:

Back to the swimming dilemma:

I would suggest to any one who likes to (or children like to) swim to bring their suits. Remember, the parks close earlier and some evenings the temperature remains in the 70's (going by our last two January trips). It's a perfect time to hit the pool, and typically they're not too crowded. No huge loss if you end up not swimming (as your suit doesn’t take up much room in your bag) but at least you had your suit. Coming from Upstate New York (where it was -3 before the wind chill this morning) it sure is fun to be able to swim outside in January!:thumbsup2
