I am sure this info is already on here somewhere, but standard rooms do not have DVD players correct? Can one be hooked up? DD3 loves her Disney movies - and we like the break it gives us!!!

I think all the rooms at Poly have the dvd recorder, they also have the disney channel and all the exta travel channel disney stuff. We were never in the room long enough to even watch anything and when we were there was plenty to keep our 2yr old and 10 yr old happy.

I do have to say we never came back to the room in the middle of the day for rests or naps. My daughter napped in the stroller wherever we happened to be at the time she was tired. I think we are just lucky with her. SHe has always napped when she wanted wherever she happens to be. I think she has actually napped in her bed about 3 times in her life.

Have a great trip to the Poly! We loved it and wished we had more time at the resort.

I have stayed there many times but never seen a DVD player in a standard room. However, if you flip the little door down on the front of the TV (where the controls are) there is an RCA (red/white/yellow) input that you can hook your DVD player to. I plugged my iPod into it once and played it through the TV and it worked just fine! I think you do have to use the remote to tune the TV to INPUT, though.

Have a good time!

We are thinking about bringing the Wii along for my son for our upcoming vacation. The parks close early while we are there, and my youngest will crash around 8, and we'll want to keep our 5 year old quiet and wind him down in the room in the evening after fireworks. Not to mention it will give us a break mid-day when the youngest is napping as well. Is it possible to hook a game system up to the TV's?

Thanks! :)

Would love an answer to this question too. Thanks. Maybe I'll call over there and see if they can answer?

I sent an Email to the Poly IPO office and this is how they replied:
Our TV's do have the ports to hook up game systems. The only thing that can be difficult may be getting to the plugs because of how the TV's are mounted, but they are compatible.

so, I think the answer is yes. Anyone know how the TV's are mounted???

The answer to that is YES! :goodvibes I brought my daughter's Wii to keep her busy when we take our breaks from the parks. Here are a few photos illustrating what I did:

As you can see, we have our Wii's console and sensor bar on the top shelf of the TV unit. There is enough clearance to put the plugs where they need to be without an excess 'pulling'. The eletrical plugs (and the HSIA outlets) are built into the back of the desk--hidden by my laptop in the photo.

This is a Concierge room set up as you can see by the DVD unit below the tv console. Just stick in the red, yellow and white plugs to their corresponding outlets. Turn on your Wii. Then on the TV, press the "TV/Video" button which is right to the left of the On/Off button. Click until you get to either Video 1 or Video 2--you'll know which one is the right one when you see the Wii menu.

Any questions, just fire away! Hope that helps folks! :goodvibes

MsStinkerBelle- You are in Disney right now? Oooh I am SO jealous of you!

Don't be too jealous. :goodvibes The crowds are :scared1:  :scared1:  Thank goodness we're staying at the Poly. Even with getting their early we could only do the MK for about 3 hours before the place became a sea of humanity. But aside from that, it's a great time to be had!

You are correct--the standard rooms at the Poly do not have DVD players. But yes, you can hook one up. There are video component cable outlets built into the TV that you can use to connect your portable DVD player to it. Just make sure to bring your component cables that came with your portable DVD. :thumbsup2

MsStinkerBelle. I will make that my only request. Sounds funny but we really need any/all the help in the mornings to get ready. We are not morning people :coffee:

Trust me, I understand. While my DD is a morning person I am definitely not. Even with my Kona coffee I am definitely not Miss Congeniality while waiting to meet the Princesses at some god-awful hour of the morning (before 9am).:lmao:

Thanks for the post, I wonder why IPO indicated that it might be hard to reach the ports. Maybe all the concierge rooms are note the same configuration?? "Wii" shall see :rotfl: !

Only GV was available for my dates also, but I was curious the price diffence btwn GV and TPV. Would you mind sharing? Maybe I should call and see if it is available for our dates....

You should try calling. When we booked our trip, GV was the only thing available. When I called on Dec 30, TPV and Lagoon view club level were both now available. I snapped up TPV about $800 more. But it's our first true POLY stay (having always done the Epcot resorts in the past) and I want to have a great view. DH is a major Epcot resort lover. If I told him I switched us to the YC or the BC I think he'd be thrilled beyond words...its the kids and I that are pushing for the POLY, and he has been ok with it because he's all about giving us what we want. :goodvibes

I hope that having a TPV will make up for not being able to walk into Epcot for a beer in England. :goodvibes

I think I'm going to keep the first floor request and just leave the building to chance. What do you all think?

I'm SOOOO glad that I found this thread!

I've been lucky enough to stay at the Polynesian twice, both times in the Fiji building, 2nd floor, marina side.

We received a 40% off PIN (3rd time! and 3rd use at the Polynesian :thumbsup2 ) and decided to splurge and book Garden View Club Level! There was no regular garden view available under the discount, so considering what we were paying for Lagoon View we felt it was worthwhile to pay the difference and have the Poly Concierge experience.

I've stayed Club Level at Wilderness Lodge, Yacht Club & Beach Club but from what I've heard Poly is the way to go.

All of my past Club Level stays have been upgrades upon check-in so I've never dealt with the Itinerary Planners. Can anyone tell me about this experience? Will they arrange ADRs, tours etc? How do they contact you and how far in advance? Thanks so much for the info!

Only 263 days to go! :cloud9:

We get to stay at the Poly for the 1st time.     We usually stay at SoG (DH is millitary) but decided to splurge wth the 4/3 deal. I have always wanted to stay here. We booked a standard gv room. Without looking thru 100+ pgs, can one of you poly experts give me any advice on your favorite house to request? I think I will probably be happy with whatever they give me upon check-in. We are so excited. :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

I am wondering the same thing...Good Poly GV room. I've looked at the info on this thread, but there is sooo much! (Which is a good thing) I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what to request.
I just want to make sure I have a balcony w/ a decent view. We will be spending a lot of time on it while the baby is asleep at night and napping during the day. Secondly, I'd like to be near the volcano pool. Other than that, not too picky. Would be nice to be near the lounge, but seems like the building there doesn't have balconies...if I understand correctly. Any suggestions anyone? Who has stayed in a GV room that they liked?

I've stayed at the Poly twice in GV and my recommendation is Fiji, 2nd or 3rd floor, Marina side!

That is the view from Fiji 2317, 2nd floor marina side. Its absolutely breathtaking. You can hear the boats as they come in and see the volcano pool erupt!

Thanks, that is just what i wanted to know! I'm gonna pass though...$800 is a lot more $$ considering I already upgraded us (extra $1200) from CSR. Think I will wait until another time for the TPV. I'm suprised it is that much more $$ b/c a TPV Tower room at CR was only $1600 more than our CSR room. So for Poly TPV it would be a total of $2000 more than CSR. Wonder why CR is much cheaper.:confused3

Is this from a balcony? We really need a balcony!

Maybe because transportation from the Poly is *slightly* easier? Or maybe it's just the view :cloud9: (I hate the "Parking lot and roof" view from the CR tower :crazy2: )

I was surprised too when I was playing online with the WDW site looking at the cost of different trips. TPV at the POLY is WAY more $$ than upgrading from standard view to water view at the YC/BC and more $$ than standard view vs. boardwalk view at the BWI. Without the 4/3 deal, I probably would have stuck with GV because we simply never spend lots of time in our room. But since we are saving money with the deal, and we are no longer going to be paying for P&P party tickets...I thought it was worth it. My DD will LOVE being able to see the castle from the room.

TinkerBelle, Does this room have double sinks?

Is this from a balcony? We really need a balcony!

No, only the "newer" longhouses - Tahiti, Tokelau and Rapa Nui have double sinks.

No, it was a 2nd floor room and had a false balony...ie: you can open the sliding glass door and there was a wooden barrier like youd have on a real balcony but you cant step out.

The third floor of this same building has full balconies and the 1st has patios.

The "Older" Buildings (1971) Fiji, Tuvalu, Aotearoa, Rarotonga have 1st floor patios & 3rd floor full balconies.

Tonga is just suites

Hawaii is just Club Level

Niue has 1st floor patios and no balconies (as it is only 2 stories)

Tahiti, Tokelau & Rapa Nui are the "Newer" buildings (1985) and have a bit more square footage, double sinks and patios on the 1st, balconies on the 2nd and 3rd

We will be checking in for our first time at Poly on April 29th..leaving May 6th.

I am so excited! We went to Disney last year and stayed at Pop, but wanted something with monorail access with the baby.

What should I request GV wise? It will be me, hubby and our 3 boys...6,3 and will be almost 8 months.

I just had a OMG moment. (as far as disney vacations go!) Am I correct that the standard GV rooms don't have bathtubs? I can't remember from our previous visit, and I was looking at room photos..and I don't see a tub! My kids don't shower yet...(the whole water over the head thing LOL) OH they are going to just LOVE a week without baths! :scared1: Holy moly...how did I miss that MINOR detail! :rotfl:
