I am sure its been asked a zillion times but I am posting this for my mom while we are here at WDW. She wants to take my dad and go over to Universal... how should they go about getting there? They are staying on WDW property. Public transportation? A taxi? Is there a transportation system with Universal somewhere?

Sorry for my newbie question, I have NO clue about anything Universal, but I told her I would ask here for her. If it matters she is handicapped and will have one of those scooters.

Thanks for any help!!! I need the info kinda asap because they want to go on Tuesday, Dec 16th.

Thank you so very much for any help!!

yes, metro is correct.

at the disney resort they are staying at, they can go to the hotel concierge and sign up for the mears shuttle the night before.

if they don't sign up the night before, they can't ride the next day on the shuttle bus.

that mears shuttle bus goes to different disney resorts to fill the seats.

the seats are pre planed and paid in advance.

if i remember correctly from october, the mears shuttle to universal will not arrive earlier than 8:30 in the morning.

there is a choice of times to take the shuttle.

thanks everyone for your speedy replies!! We called at 9:30am today after I checked this thread, and booked them on a shuttle for tomorrow (Tuesday) at 10 am! It was 16.00 per person roundtrip and they will be on their way tomorrow.

Thank you so much for your help!!:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Price Mears as compared to a towncar. Sometimes towncars are cheaper depending on the size of your party. We like Happy Limo ourselves (we're local but we use 'em to Port Canaveral for some of our cruises).

do i have this correct?
you are going from mco to universal.
that's one leg of your trip.

then you are needing transportation from universal to disney onsite.

the mears round trip special from disney resorts to the universal bus let out is $16 pp rt.

i don't think this would work for you.

i use private car service and pay for a 3 leg trip, $125.
that covers from the airport to disney resort.
pick up from disney resort to universal resort.
pick up from the universal resorts back to mco the airport.

private car service drops you off at the door of each hotel.
when they pick you up at the airport, they wait inside by the baggage carousel and carry your belongings to the car.

a 2 leg trip is under $100.
airport to resort and back to airport.

car service charges for the ride.
you can have 5 in the vehicle without additional costs involved.

the mears shuttle does service transportation from mco to universal resorts.
they also will provide from one resort/universal to another resort/disney.

i don't know the amount per person from the airport to the resorts.
this link will give you the answer of what costs are involved per person from mears transportation:

http://www.mearstransportation.com/...oa=1 Airport Blvd&toc=Orlando&toz=32827-4328&

when i put in mco to UO: $32.45
UO to WDW: $34.65
WDW to mco: $52.25

totaling to $119.35

i don't know if that is for per person .

you can call mears to find out. the mears taxi phone number is on the website i listed.

even if that amount is for a family of 4, i would stick to private car service for the convenience for pick up for a family.

Do you think this would also be the most econmical mode of transportation for 2 adults and two children (12 & 10) from the airport to Universal onsite hotel and then to Disney onsite hotel?

You can get a minivan cab for about $35 for each of those legs of your vacation that would fit 4 guests.

Thanks I will call Mears tomorrow. I just thought of something.. I can use magical express at the end of the trip from Pop to MCO. So that should save some...

you will save $$ by doing that.
go for it!

i'm all about saving money for one thing so i can spend it on another thing that is more fun.....

My friend and I just rented a car for the day. I think it was $40. but we got to go do some grocery shopping, and got a pizza for dinner. so saved a bit of money from the expensive restaurants

that's another way to get there from disney but you get stuck paying the $12 parking fee in the garage at universal

15.00 parking fee is highway robbery!! How else do they expect people to get to their park? I'm sorry parking fees are a bone of contention with me, I mean it's just extra money they make off everyone. Might as well raise the ticket prices at least that would be fair. A family of 2 wouldn't pay the same as a family of 6 in a mini-van.

The parking fee at Universal is $12.00 for regular self parking...the same as Disney charges. But I agree with you...I don't like the parking fees either. Universal has paid off that garage and Disney owns the land and have paid the land off a hundred times over.

Just another reason to love the Premier Pass...free valet! I know it's a pricey pass, but we have paid for both mine and hubby's many times over with the free parking alone. Granted, we still pony up a tip, but that's well worth not having to take that loooong hike to the garage.

the parking fee at universal is not bad.

the six flags near me charged $20 to park.
no valet, self parking only.

and sometimes when they were crowded, you parked in their lot across the street from the regular lot.
still $20....
