I am trying to book a rental car for April 11 - 18.:confused3 I am getting prices of $505.00 for an economy car. HELP please. I am a member of AAA. My husband works for Anthem/Well Point. When I asked them for the Anthem rate, the guy quoted me of $1,000.00 :scared:

I will be flying into Orlando on Saturday April 11th in the morning and leaving late afternoon on the 18th. Please help.

Unfortunately, that is Easter week.

If you are willing to go with a lesser known rental company, such as Payless or Advantage, the are still showing rates in the 200-300 range.

For your dates, AM pickup and PM dropoff, Hotwire has a rental via Enterprise for $278.77. Same at Enterprise website.:thumbsup2

That is the same quote I got this morning after I posted this one. My husband works for Anthem so I am hoping "His Code" will make it less expensive.

Car rental prices seem to be way up from last year all across the board. I am paying twice the amount for the same car next year that I did earlier this year.

I myself would book the $278 on the Enterprise website before it goes away. From what I read on Enterprise's web site, it is cancelable. Corporate rates aren't always cheaper. Rental car rates when I worked for Xerox and DEC were always higher than I could book it myself. Intermediate size vehicle is available at the same price. Good luck.

Have you tried all the codes from Mousesavers? I am renting from April 11-19 and paying $250 for a mid-size. I like using Dollar (try the Southwest Air code, OCVB, oi1054, etc.). Keep trying.

I tried the code on Dollar and it says it is not available for my dates:mad:

When I plug in your dates on Dollar using the Southwest code, I get a full-size for a total of $270. Also, AAA does not usually give good rates. Are you on or off property?

I just checked through Southwest and booking from their web site you can get a mid size with Advantage for $204.03 taxes included.

We are staying at the Marriott's Grand Vista.

Do I go through SW Airlines and book the car?

Sure you can. I booked a minivan for 10 days yesterday for March break in Fort Myers for $393.00 tax in and everyone else was $550.00 or more. I will keep checking because car rental rates keep changing.

I just went in through SW and found Alamo at $185.00 but when I went further to get a reservation it jumped to over $600.00. I must be challanged or something.:confused3

There is something you must be doing incorrect because I just booked the mid size for the same dates using my credit card and got the same total as quoted earlier. After I booked it I cancelled it of course using the confirmation number I received.

I just checked the Advantage web site and it has the same rate as well for the Intermediate Car so perhaps you may want to try that. The link is below.

That worked! :yay:

Do you think it will get any cheaper? How often should I check back?:surfweb:

It's hard to say if you will get better but you can check once in a while. Car rentals and airline prices are kind of like gambling. I got lucky 2 days ago when I booked my flight to Fort Myers from Pittsburgh because the day before it was $69.00 and I almost booked. The next day when I actually booked it was $48.00 minus a $25.00 coupon from AirTran. I got each flight for $65.00 return including taxes and both are nonstop as well. For family of 5 I paid $335.00 total.

It's kind of like playing the lottery I guess.

I have been hearing about these coupons for Airtran but I have not seen any, where do you get them?
