Has anyone heard if construction is running on time for a Dec 2009 opening? We are planning a Jan 2010 trip to Universal and WDW.

I''ve researched the amount of days for the 2 parks and I get about 2 days as an average. Do you think if HP opens in time that we should plan more days?

I'm stressing because I want to make sure that "I" get in my Disney time, LOL.:)

HP isn't planning on opening until sometime in 2010 by the recent announcements. I think 2009 was the early plan but they've pushed it back a year. These are the signs they have posted at IOA:

I saw the opening in 2010 on another website! Rats. I wonder when in 2010?

HP's opening will be synced with....something. Maybe. :confused3

But construction is going smoothly. There are things I would love to say about it, but can't!

Eh, that screws up my plans for a late Jan/early Feb 2010 visit too. :(

OK so I'm guessing I'm out of luck for a Jan 2010 visit, can you confirm that? ;) We have 2 other families planning and one doesn't have kids and would only be going for HP. Part of me would be willing to postpone BUT then end of Jan our school schedule is wacky and we get some 1/2 days and days off due to high school testing. If we postpone a year then my oldest will be in high school so we can't take off those 1/2 days. I don't really want to take them out at another time as they would miss full days of school. And summer, I did do that pregnant one year but do I really want to do that again - summer I mean, LOL. I'm done with the pregnant:) And finally my oldest would be celebrating his B-day in Jan. Oh decisions decisions :confused3

Thanks everyone who has given your opinions and knowledge. I appreciate it!:thumbsup2

I really wish building in the park was going quicker. I'm excited to see how it's going to turn out.

Yeah I wish is was going quicker too for a Jan 2010 opening, LOL:thumbsup2 Well at least it will be an excuse to go back again! Dh needs the excuse, not me. ;)

Oh! I hope that it's done by the beginning of November 2010 since that's when we're planning to go (in celebration of my BIG birthday!)

Can someone confirm whether if they think that's a good time, PLEASE :worship: ?

I would think with about 95% certainty, HP will be open by November 2010. Historically, the lines are pretty light in November but once HP opens...all bets are off.

I was planning Jan 2010 too and was hoping to fins HP working, as it was scheduled when they announced it. :surfweb:
I'm gonna wait a little more to give this bad news to my family (maybe something changes ?!?) .... But I think I'm not changing my plans, because its the only time of year we can go ...

I would love to go to US for Christmas in 2010 to experience Harry Potter. We are going in June 09 so I hope to sneak a peek at the construction.

i would think the largest crowds would be gone by that time.
it wouldn't be the new thing at that point.

most people will go when it first opens.
i want to avoid the crowds.

and, hopefully another new featured ride will be made by then for the parks. the new coaster opens around late spring or early summer next year. i would assume after the new island section, universal would concentrate on another new ride for the parks then.
