Soft Sided Cooler/Beverages Still Allowed?

Recent cruisers- are soft sided coolers still allowed to be carried onboard with bottled water, liquor, etc? I have mine all ready to go, but I just got my docs and it says no coolers allowed. Have the docs always said this, but "unofficially" it is not a problem to bring them onboard? Please alleviate my worries and confirm that I can still bring mine onboard!

Yes you can but do not put drink in luggage. Soft sided cooler ok,

Can we put bottled water in a duffel bag? We ordered a case of water from Costco, but we'll be drinking some of that at the parks before the cruise. I was planning on putting the rest in a duffel bag - will that work?

If the duffle bag stays with you and can fit through there x ray yes, but best if say is water bottles leave them in the open for everyone to see what they are

Carry on, Responses from DCL say on food and drink.

Please be aware that any fragile items and beverages
must be hand-carried onboard in a day bag and/or carry-on, which cannot
exceed 22" wide, 14" high and 9" deep.

It must be secure and unopened and be able to fit through the port x-ray scanner.

Oh good info - but we're trying to avoid carrying too much with us. So even if we have the case of water intact and out in the open, we couldn't leave that for DCL to transfer with the rest of our luggage? We're doing port transfers from the resort.

Do anyone know if you can still put one of your luggage tags on a case of water? We noticed several people doing this last time we cruised and we were planning on doing that this time.

Technically you are not supposed to based on DCL's lastest recommendations. Many people still do bring it to the porters who would never say no because they are looking to please you for their tips. the porters are an outside vendor and do not work for Disney. I know it is so convenient to do this but my worry is that if people abuse the perk of bringing beverages onboard in this manner and not following DCL's guidelines that DCL will eventually pull the perk completely and that would be a shame.

The above response ( as usual) is correct and covers the point precisely, basically its Not allowed but actually does happen.

What you cannot do is but any food or drink in your luggage,
This is because the security dogs are trained to look for anything abnormal and also it can damage other peoples luggage if broken.

Now sealed bottles of water should be carried on, but if it is clear and you can see what it is and it is labeled, it is often taken on board for you.

I would say this is likley to be withdrawn if the security 'level' of risk rises at the port.

Take my word for it...

If you have any bottles, keep them with you! I lost 3 bottles that I allowed CM to bring to dock at end of trip. As for boarding, we took 3 half gallons on that we packed in a duffle bag. No issues. Even broght one of them that was not empty back off at the end of the trip. This was 3 weeks ago.

We witnessed porters telling guests that they could not take their cases of water onboard with their luggage. It just depends on the porter, but DCL did change their guidelines for this recently and stopped accepting cases of water being shipped ahead as well.

just remember no ice in your soft cooler. We're taking ours next Saturday (YEAH!!!:cool1: ) with several bottles of wine in it. It rolls, but it also has backpack straps if I were to get any flack for whatever reason.

We just back from the Magic yesterday, and yes, you can bring on soft-sided coolers (no ice) onboard. We had champagne, wine and liquor, and we just packed it in a small soft-sided cooler and brought it onboard. There's even a sign right before the x-ray machine about not bringing drinks, but the screeners didn't say a thing!

does anyone have a picture of the soft sided cooler and where can we pick one up at a store in Florida (so we don't have to bring it on the plane with us)? How much did they cost?

You can see pics and get ideas from searching for soft sided cooler on amazon. That is where I got mine, I think it was a 32 can capacity for around $30. Mine is both rolling and collapsible, so it folds up nicely to fit flat in my suitcase, and then can be expanded and has a handle to roll it like a suitcase.
