Boardwalk or Campfire?

I'm torn. We have a free evening and don't know what to do. (Oh woe is me ) Need to make ADR for this night ASAP. Besides the adults, my sons are 2 and 5. Which evening would you do with them?

Go to Wilderness Lodge, view the geyser and dinner at Whispering Canyon. Then off to the campground for campfire. My only thoughts on this are that we will be REALLY tight on time, and my kids won't sit thru a 2 hour movie - esp my 2 year old. BUT they would enjoy the campfire/smores and chip&dale singalong.

---OR---
Go to the Boardwalk, eat at the Brewing Company. Take in the entertainment on the boards and visit the candy store. My only concern here is the entertainment won't be out and about, or that there are limited things to do (I've never visited this resort before, so I'm unsure how much there is to do on the boardwalk)

What's your opinion? Thanks!

I'm not sure what night you have free but if you want the campfire and s'mores, there is one with just that at POR. I think they have it every Thursday and Sunday night for the winter months. It might be an alternative where you don't have to sit through a movie.

I have some great childhood memories of that Chip & Dale campfire sing along and movie. I am taking my own kids there for the first time next June. Really looking forward to it.

BTW....if you can't tell, that is what I would do.

I do not think that there is enough on the boardwalk to keep children that age entertained. It is fun to stroll it but I would not plan an evening there. And the food at BR Brewing is nothing special; the place smells like beer too.

Just wanted to let you know that the Yacht Club has a campfire with movies and smore's too. There's no characters though...

Here's a picture of the schedule when I was there in September.

It's located on the Stormalong Bay beach, and you could easily walk over from the Boardwalk. In fact, you can see the Boardwalk from this picture.

Go to the campfire at the Fort. It is very laid back, people wander about through the whole program, so if you need to leave, no problem. The campfire area is also near a playground so you could split up and one watch the movie(if one kid wants to and the other doesn't) or take a break during the movie and go back later to catch the end.
The movie schedule is usually posted on the camping board near the first of the month.

I think the FW campfire is for anyone, but the resort ones are for the guests only...not that they would really check.

You could rent a bike at the Boardwalk, but otherwise there isn't a whole lot to do. However, it can be very time consuming getting to and from FW.

We thought we were smart by driving over there last year, but we had to take the internal bus from the parking lot and it felt like a VERY long ride.

Depending on how intense your schedule is and where you are staying it might be nice to just take a "night off." I always welcome an early hotel night midway through the trip.

Based on you being at the POLY, I wouldn't bother with the boardwalk unless you have a car.

The kids would probably like WC and you can get there easily from POLY via the monorail/boat.

The Yacht and Beach Club usually do check cards due to the quality of their pool and such, many people have tried to "crash" and take advantage of their pool. But anyway, I would (and will) go to the Chip and Dale one, it was definitely the highlight of my then 5 year old. As far as the Boardwalk, there are too many carnival style games that the kids seem more interested in, hence more money out of pocket!

I vote for the campfire, only because of the age of your children. In my opinion, the Boardwalk would be better for teen aged kids. However, if you decided you wanted to visit the Boardwalk, you could rent the surri bikes and take a ride around the lake. (I think that is what they are called) You could also walk over to Beaches and Cream at the Yacht and Beach Club for an ice cream, or the Dolphin also has an ice cream parlor. Also, mini golf is just a stroll away. There is so much in that area that can be walked to!Either way...you will be entertained.
