Do kids really sail free???

I punched in some dates on the cruiseline site and do not seem to be seeing the savings. Am I doing something wrong? For three days it cost just $300 dollars less than my 4 day. I would think if the kids did sail free I would see a bigger difference. I am confused. :confused3

Once you choose your sailing date and get to the page where you can remove transfers & insurance, there is a box in the bottom left corner for a promo code - enter "FREE" and click update. You won't see the savings reflected until you go to the next page which will list your total amount due.

Kids need to be 12 and under, only certain sail dates from Jan to May 31 and you need to type in the promo code FREE and then hit continue to see the price differance. See if that helps to make a differance. By the time I figured it out I missed out as all the Cat 12 were gone for April 2 .:headache:

Thanks for the tips, it worked. Now the savings is about $700. So is the three day worth it? We had booked the 4 day because the 3 day seemed way to short. Is $1200 worth two days on a boat?? We are first time disney cruisers.

I think it's a great way to "get your feet wet" (hopefully not literally, lol) and see if the family likes cruising. That is what we did in October of 2006 ... we did a 3 day that was on sale ... then saved for a 7 day on the Magic this past April and now we are taking a quick 3 day again just to hold us over since there is a sale.

IMHO the 4 day is too short...the 3 day is just a teaser.

Unless you're tacking it on to a WDW trip, it's not worth flying down just for a 3 nt. cruise. Even then I'd be wishing for more time on the ship and less at WDW. I still love WDW but DCL is so much more relaxing. Wish I could do a 7 day in March when I can't stand this cold weather any longer.

So this was my concern, would it just be a teaser?? Now dh says he has no interest in a 7 day because it is too long. After my first cruise last year I would have to agree. We have ap's this year and are tacking on a disney stay. With the savings we could stay at disney longer and upgrade to a nicer hotel or downgrade hotel and stay for the 4 day. Wow is $700 really worth one day??

We have done six DCL cruises...that includes two seven nights, two four nights and two three nights. We just recently did the three night cruise a couple weeks ago and I felt WAY too rushed. There were a couple of things that I wanted to do on the cruise that I just could not fit in during my short time on the cruise. Yes, the three night cruise IS a teaser. The ONLY advantage that there is to a 3 night cruise is that it's from Thursday to Sunday, so you don't have to take off an entire week of work (if you work M-F) to do it as you would for the 4 OR 7 night cruises. I think I will only do 7 night cruises in the future, unless, like someone else posted, we combine a WDW trip with a DCL trip.

With that being said, if someone can only afford a 3 night cruise on DCL...BY ALL MEANS...GO! There is no place on earth like being on a Disney Cruise Ship!!!!

Well everyone's situation is unique. We don't have APs so there's no big pull toward WDW for me. You could be there w/o spending more OOP so why pay extra for cruising too? We've done enough trips to WDW that a few days there suits us fine while others may still want a full week there every time.

Also your dh is not excited for a 7 day so there's another difference with us. We think the 7 nt. is the best value, only a little more than a 4 nt. and almost doubles your time on the ship. Since this isn't your 1st cruise you know what it's like. Though this is your first DCL cruise so you can forget half of what you experienced on another line. DCL will be different. Only you can decide if it's worth it to you. Honestly, if 10 of us say it's worth it and you still don't agree, you need to do what works for you and makes your family happy, right?

Thanks for all the suggestions and replies. We decided to switch. In the end the savings between the 4 night verses 3 night was almost $1100. :cool1:
No day at sea is worth that much imho. I am so excited. I feel so much more comfortable going now with this price. Thanks.

I considered it too. But I really want that extra day for some down time. And I figured if we did the 3 day I would then want a day at WDW , just one of the hotels, for relaxing a day, and it would come out after the hotel price and food to be no cheaper. We only have one DD that is of the age, and it was only taking 250 off the cruise price. Now I know I'll be spending more than that on a 4 night. But that is really what I want. Now if DD 16 could sail for free too, then I would consider it.
