Royal Me This, Royal Me That ~ Disney in December, How About That? *Update 6-1* P26

Okay---all caught up.......you may now continue on with your TR.......you were waiting for me, weren't you?!?!?!?!?! ;o)

I know and as I said on the Laupette board hopefully soon we can get a laptop. Then at least I can dis in the evenings while my dd is playing. Right now we only have a computer upstairs in our office and her toys and the tv are downstairs.

Fingers crossed on the laptop!

I'm fortunate in that our computer is in our living room in a nice little armoire, so it can easily be hidden from view when we entertain. And we have a little niche in the living room since we're on the second floor, and although our Christmas tree is there right now, typically, that's HRH's play area.

Okay---all caught up.......you may now continue on with your TR.......you were waiting for me, weren't you?!?!?!?!?! ;o)

But of course, my dear! ;)

So after I rush and throw myself and HRH together, we get ready to book it to MGM. Whereupon I have the brilliant idea to try using a different exit to get to the boat dock. It actually turned out to be a very good idea, because going back through the lobby would have involved a lot more walking for Nana.

Now at this point in the trip, I was still really excited, even though I was a bit tired. It's that first day high. It only happens on the first day because you have your whole trip ahead of you and all those possibilities. Well, for the most part.

When you don't have lots of stuff scheduled that you may just feel the need to rebel against.

But where are my royal manners? ;)

On our way to MGM, I took a few pictures for you all, of course, just to give you an idea of what we were looking at while we waited for the boat to arrive.

You didn't think just because this trip report was royal there wouldn't be some pirate in it, savvy?

DisDec08-0292-1.jpg

Now, it was really, really busy on the dock and it seemed like EVERYONE was heading to MGM. Osbourne Lights, anyone? We did manage to get on the first boat, but it was standing room only. Fortunately there was one seat for Nana to take, and we suggested she sit.

Very nicely. And unobtrusively. So that some...um...younger person wouldn't take the seat before her.

Savvy?

Because on a side note, that woman will keep going until she's about ready to drop. So we like to make sure that doesn't happen.

So off to MGM we go, chatting with some very nice families on our way. Now because it was a weekend, I did notice a lot of local people coming up just for the weekend. Most from Florida, an hour or two away. I felt this was just a good mental note to have for the future. Floridians with annual passes like to see the holiday decorations on the weekends. Don't know why that didn't occur to me before we left, but it makes perfect sense now.

Now, we had a lot of one day passes, and the hope was that we would be able to apply them to an annual pass for me. And before all you naysayers chime in with the non-transferable non-refundable bit, let me just tell you, Mom and Nana have done this before.

And we were almost able to. Until we got the one knowledgeable CM who came over to help our not so knowledgeable CM. She took one look at my Mom and me and said, you can't give her your passes. They're non-transferable. Okay, we're totally aware and not trying to scam the system, but we've done this before.

No. Dice.

And that would be how TK did not purchase an annual pass. So for the rest of the trip, I used the one day passes that we had, and didn't throw down the cash on an annual. Just. Not. Worth. It.

Well, that took up a good chunk of time, never mind with getting there. Now tonight since we didn't plan to be in the park that long (it was around 530 I believe at this point) we did not get an ECV for Nana. The whole goal this evening was to eat dinner at the Brown Derby and see the Osbourne Lights.

That's it.

And they were fine goals, to be sure.

We eventually arrived at the Derby. I'm not sure if we were late. If we were, it was only by a few minutes and it didn't matter.

Because we waited.

And waited.

And waited to be seated. Let's just say it was busy. Busy like I haven't seen busy at Disney World in so long. Oh, how I am spoiled by September and hurricane season. :sad2:

And while we waited, I took some pictures, and tried to keep HRH entertained.

Taking pictures was the easy part. Keeping HRH entertained? Not so much. He was tired. And hungry. Quite frankly, so was I. And it was a bad combination. One you would think we'd learn to assess quickly on the trip, but no. No, no. A little royal drama for you.

Which involved HRH actually laying down on the floor in the Derby at one point. And all I could think was ewwwww.....

and then I did what any mother would do. I sat down on the floor, took out his race cars and distracted him.

Do you know how many people walk across that floor?

Ah well. At least I was entertaining His Royal Highness.

Whew! I am finally here. Sorry it took me so long to get over here, TK, but I am so glad I am finally here.

I hope the lip incident on the plane is the only injury on your trip.

The Christmas decorations at the Yacht Club are delightful. I would love to do Disney at Christmas again at some point.

The views from the dock are great! I can't wait to be there in just under six months.

Looking forward to hearing about your meal at Brown Derby.

I'm glad you're here, too! I figured you must have been crazy busy with the semester coming to a close.

I'm pretty sure it is. Well, if there were any others, they didn't involve blood, that's for sure!

I thought of you a lot when we would pass by the Beach Club. I did a little reconnaisance work for you, but not until later in the trip. :goodvibes

Looking forward to hearing about your meal at Brown Derby.

One word: NOM. :thumbsup2

It was crazy busy! I am so glad it is over, and we are halfway through the school year -- it also means we are halfway closer to our summer trip!

I'm pretty sure it is. Well, if there were any others, they didn't involve blood, that's for sure!

No blood is always good!

I am so excited!!! I can't wait to read/see about it! You are the best!

One word: NOM. :thumbsup2

Hmmm, I may have to rework my ADRs again. :rolleyes1

I finally made it over here! You're off to a great start!! Other than the bloody lip, of course. That would have freaked me out! Glad your mom was there and having a nurse in the row in front of you was good too!

Thanks for thinking of us and taking pictures with us in mind. I did duck quickly into Yacht Club but didn't see everything you captured. It's beautiful!

SO glad you made it to Brown Derby. Hope you were able to indulge in a great meal and perhaps an adult beverage to unwind. And love that the royals call it art not porn!

You can't go wrong at the Brown Derby.

Glad your mom was there and having a nurse in the row in front of you was good too!

I know, talk about fortuituous, right?

Glad you like it!

Oh, there were DEFINITELY some adult beverages on this trip. :lmao:

I keep reading all over the place how December is getting busier and busier.

Balderdash! Don't you hate it when you get what you want. Pfffft.

I keep reading all over the place how December is getting busier and busier.

I'll talk more about that as my trip report goes on.

I totally thought of my September trip, too. :lmao:

Ditto.

great installment! i will keep this short and little punctuation... i burned my hand. dont ask. :sad2:

i grew up in little rock, AR...where the osbornes live...and used to look at those lights on their HOUSE many years ago. insane. so insane they outlawed it. so much traffic it caused wrecks and blocked the streets for miles. so they gave the lights to disney. i think the little rock power company was probably sad. :rotfl:

ya know. sitting on the floor at the BD with your little peanut was good for your immune system, at least! helps you create great defenses for all of those new germs! :goodvibes seriously...awesome mom!

ok...enough typing with one hand. :sad2: i have a new appreciation for lauren. she uses only one finger. and is fast. :thumbsup2

I know people say this all the time, but the time really will fly by with your DS. So, yay for enjoying the time with the little prince now! :cheer2: Mine are 20, 19, 13, and 13 and I do miss the preschool days sometimes.

Maroo - hope your hand heals fast. I don't think I posted on your thread from the make a wish trip with Lauren, but I did read it all. Wow what an amazing friend you are to them and Lauren seems like a real gem. princess: And wow how cool to have seen the Osborne lights before they were at Disney. I can't imagine the traffic jam!

Love the boat dock pictures.

Can't wait to hear about the Royal Feast!

Great installment!!! Good point to point out that the Floridians head in for the weekends to see the lights---we found this last year too!

I feel like I have to ask now. ;)

I can't wait to tell my husband, mom, nana, that I know someone on the DIS who actually saw all that when it was on the houses! I saw a Samantha Brown holiday special the other night and they showed what it looked like. It was breathtaking at MGM, I can't imagine what it would have looked like in a neighborhood!

ya know. sitting on the floor at the BD with your little peanut was good for your immune system, at least! helps you create great defenses for all of those new germs! :goodvibes seriously...awesome mom!

I had a lot of those kind of moments during this trip. I will admit right here and now that on occassion, I lost my cool. It's tough when my DH isn't with me, that's for sure.

Oh, let me tell you right now, I know it will only get harder. This is SO the easy part. I'm absolutely terrified of driving, and dating, and college. Lord help me.

Can't wait to hear about the Royal Feast!

That sounds like a great title for my next royal discourse! Can I use that? :goodvibes

Great installment!!! Good point to point out that the Floridians head in for the weekends to see the lights---we found this last year too!

I don't know why logically this didn't occur to me beforehand.

Okay...boo to the not being able to update to an AP pass!!!

Love the picture of the Christmas tree and I can't wait to read the royal food art on the BD as I will be eating there in January. Sorry you had such a long wait, boo to that too!!!

Can't wait to hear more!! Hope you have a great day TK!!

Okay...boo to the not being able to update to an AP pass!!!

It was a bummer. Since I was thinking about future trip(s). And that's all I have to say about that.

Love the picture of the Christmas tree and I can't wait to read the royal food art on the BD as I will be eating there in January. Sorry you had such a long wait, boo to that too!!!

You can't go wrong at the Brown Derby. I love it there.

Yay for food porn! I mean ART- yeah, art... :thumbsup2

And I'm sure I would've copped a squat on the floor to keep my DS entertained at that age too. ANYTHING to avoid a meltdown.

Can't wait to hear about the Brown Derby! I had to cancel our ADR there last trip and I know I am going to kick myself all over again when I see your Food Art!
