Can anyone recommend an offsite ( :guilty: ) campground with close proximity to WDW? My in-laws have decided to join my family and of course there are no full-hook-up sites available for their dates 2/3 - 2/8.

Anyone ever score a site last minute? I call every few days but still no luck :guilty:

Thanks for any help in locating a substitute!!

Turkey Lake is behind Universal Studios which is about a 15 minute drive away and costs $15 a night.

I did...just this week. Going to be at the Fort Dec. 29-Jan. 3

Wanted partial or full hook up when I booked about 5 months ago...got only prem. However, this week a full hook up site came up for first 4 days...and nothing for the last night that I wanted. Then today...BINGO!!!! Got my last night also for a full hook up. Don't just call every day....I call and check the computer site several times a day!!!

I GOT IT!!!

Today was the 45 days and I went to the website and there was availability so I called and booked a full hook-up site for the in-laws. Hallelujah! They are going to be so happy :)

Are pets permitted at all sites or do they need a specific site?

Thanks for everyone's alternative ideas you offered.

We love Turkey Lake and always stayed there.........until this trip at Fort Wilderness and now guess what campground is our favorite?! :cloud9:

Just curious if anyone knows what happened to the old Jellystone Campground near Orlando. I was too young to remember exactly where it was but we stayed there in 1973 or 74. It was pretty cool. They had a lake and showed outdoor movies ever night. It no longer exist that I can find. Thanks

There are specific pet loops, just let them know ahead of time and they will assign you to one. If they are full they will place you in a regular loop.

The simple answer is that if you reserve a pet loop, and pay for your pet to stay, your pet is allowed in whatever loop they put you. There have always been loops that as designated for pets, but now, at least while the upgrades are going on, the lines are a bit blurry. Blurry to the point that I have seen dogs (LOUD dogs) in pop-ups, and dogs being walked where dogs have never tread before (which makes me happy). Between that and the dog pics with Santa at DtD it seems Disney is becoming more pet-friendly. Yeah!

Oh never mind- I see you got your cancellation. :)

Yeah you should get a cancellation for that time frame. Just hang in there...I have reservations at FW for almost 30 days in Feb. that I will be cancelling in Jan. Unfortunatly for you , I believe they are fo after Valentine's day weekend. But, I won't be the only one making cancellations I am sure. :) I am just trying to decide if we are going to FW or on a last minute cruise. :)

Here's some pixie dust to help you find your cancellation! :wizard:

Merry Christmas and keep checking!!!

I'll tack a question onto this thread.

Assuming I could get a few nights in February, what discounts should I try for? Say after 2/16 (Value season ends 2/12, I know...)

I've used AAA in the past, but during value season. Late February is peak season, anyone know what the AAA would be? Maybe 10% (vs. 20% in value season)?

I see an "OZI" code out there. Safe to assume that it includes every other resort, but NOT Fort Wilderness? (Hate to think I could stay at a hotel for $49, but will be paying $89 at the Fort.)

I also see Florida resident codes out to 2/12. That coincides with the end of value season, probably nothing for peak season?

Anything else? Blue car discount? Neighbor of a guy who knows a guy discount? Take pity on my budget discount?

(I'd need a full hook up or better site - motorhome. Shouldn't make a difference, but thought I'd mention it. And it'd be a room only reservation, again, in the case of the Fort, I don't think that matters.)

Thanks,

I looks like the only Jellystone left (in FL) is in Madison. Looks like the one you are looking for is this one? I don't blame you for looking for those great childhood memories. I have some great memories of camping across country at all the old KOAs (they were the fischizzle back then) as a kid. We were stationed in CA, AZ, and ND while all of our family was in VA and KY so we traveled A LOT! :). I'm also very glad that our parents felt they should take us to see any and every attraction within a 2 day driving trip...San Diego Zoo, Disneyland, Grand Canyon, Petrified forest, Carlsbad Caverns, Washington DC, Mt. Vernon, Arlington, Mt. Rushmore, Canada.......oops, off on a tangent again. I guess it just goes to show you that no matter how young your kids may be-they will always remember those trips and the great family time they had. We had several different campers back then but the one I loved the best was the VW Popup Camper. I would LOVE to get my hands on one of those now.

....... Take pity on my budget discount?

:rotfl: I believe Disney issued a statement awhile back to let everyone know...
"We are completely and totally devoid of pity regarding finances, please do not ask for some--we do not have any." Are you in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, or the Carolinas? I don't know of any other discounts except for ones for those states. Good Luck!

I do everything there at last minute, calling every 3 days isn't good enough, call several times a day and eventually you may get a cancellation, has always worked for me
