DVC Members..please help with booking a campsite on points

Hi all..

We have 38 points left over after a wonderful Thanksgiving trip in a cabin at the Fort. They need to be used by July 31, 2009 so we were thinking about towing our travel trailer down from NY. It's 35 ft. and I am a little confused about what is available on points, since there are 3 categories. Also, any recommendations on which loop to request? We would be bringing our dog this time.

Can't help you with DVC points but with that size RV I'd request a premium site. They are longer, wider and supposedly easier to get backed into. If all they have is preferred or full hookup don't be afraid to book those either---that was the standard for years and most of us did/do fine with that. We like being closer to the settlement( lower numbers ) Some like being near the Meadows (higher numbers ) Check out the map of FW and get an idea where you'd like to be. http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/fortwilderness.htm

You can't pick a type of site with DVC points. You automatically get a premium site, that is locked in by DVC.

well, i think you automatically get preferred or better for 2009. i have requested 300 loop and always get it, using points. i have not seen the 2009 categories for points. my 2008-09 guide only shows full hookup, which means you get full hookup or better.
if you don't call right at 11 mos. out for point availability, it is very difficult to get, at least for the camp sites. seems to be available for cabins.

Good Luck. I've been trying since the 11 month mark for a May vacation and then again for a december vacation and am continuosly told that no sites have been released for "points" reservations. I've also been told only full-hook up sites will be available once they are/if they are released. So, right now we're heading to FW on a cash reservation in May and to Saratoga Springs in December!

We booked a site for the end of March and I was told by member services that they had full hook up and preferred sites listed in their inventory. Only thing available when I booked was a full hook up. Not sure it was worth the points but I booked it. I know in past years, we were always given preferred sites when booking on points.
