Slipcovers for Fisher Price Papasan swing?

I know this is coming out of left field, but since we're expecting #2, and I'm fairly certain it's a boy (I'm not sick + psychic prediction). I have a barely used Fisher Price Papasan swing, but it's PINK! I know it won't hurt the boy in any way to use a pink swing, but I was wondering if anyone knew where to buy a slipcover for one of these. I can't find a thing on the Fisher Price site, and I'm sure if I called they'd tell me I have to buy a whole new swing.

I was thinking a shopping cart cover, but they have big ol' legholes. Ideas?

Thanks a bunch!

I would at least try and call them, they might sell you the piece, they usually sell replacement pieces.

True, I just get nervous calling Customer Service sometimes. :) Hopefully they'll be understanding and sell me one in a non-pink color :thumbsup2

Find someone who sews and have them make one for you. A slip cover would be very easy (if you sew). You'll likely need to take your fabric and the cushion.

(Too bad you don't live in south Texas;) )

try ebay!

nix ebay. I looked didn't find anything.. do you still have your book that came with it? there should be a list of replacement parts to order on it.. hopefully you can just order a new color

When you call just tell them you need a green or cream replacement cover for your swing, don't mention it was pink. ;) Or, just buy some cute receiving blankets at Target and tuck one around it (it should be simple enough to cut slits for the straps), maybe securing it with self adhesive velcro to keep it from slipping. Think of how easy it would be to clean up the spit-up and diaper leaks that way. A quick project with many looks! :thumbsup2 Another idea would be to find someone in your position reversed and swap covers.

My friend had picked a pattern for something (I can't remember what it was...could've been a swing, but it also could've been something else) that was discontinued by the time her aunt went to purchase it. The aunt bought it in the "wrong" color and called up to see about getting it in the right one - lucky her, they sent it to her for free! She, like you, just wanted to get the right color, she was expecting to pay for it. So give 'em a call - they most likely have them, and it never hurts to ask! I can't imagine they wouldn't want to sell you a replacement cover (a fairly minimal expense vs. a new swing) rather than risk you purchasing a new, other brand.

My mom used to sew, 20-some years ago! I could always ask her! Now if she's up for the challenge, that's another story! :lmao:

I'd so pay you to make one for me if I lived in south Texas! I also wouldn't be freezing my tooshie off ;)

I just found the book, but it said nothing about replacement parts, but it's worth a shot to call Customer Service.

Thanks for checking ebay, that was my first thought too!

That's true, I don't have to mention it was pink! lol.

I *could* always do the receiving blanket idea... you have a good point-- easy cleanup! :) Thanks!

Wow, her aunt lucked out! I had something similar happen with DD's exersaucer, one of the toys broke and the toy itself was discontinued, so they sent me the last one for free!

That is true-- I bet they'd rather sell me a cover than have me buy another company's swing :)
