What's up with Caribbean Beach prices?

Does anyone know why Caribbean Beach is more expensive than the other moderates?

Although not going until 2010 I priced up the same dates for next year that we had this year and Port Orleans comes out at £1713 for 3 weeks for 2 adults and 2 children but Caribbean Beach comes out at £2106, almost £400 more!!!

This is on Disney UK, Disney US and room rates shown here on the Dis are all the same for all the moderates, have I missed something?

Is the CBR pricing for a preferred room?

I'm afraid not no, that takes it up to £2340!

When I did the pricing I didn't specify a particular resort as I wanted to see what prices it brought up for all the resorts and this moderate still keeps coming up more expensive than the others but I just can't work out why!

I am guessing that although rack rates are the same Disney UK is applying their own pricing from supply and demand in previous years. Therefore CBR is popular they price it higher!

Could it be because they've just done up CBR's whole pool area? Apparently it looks fab, has a zero entry pool and everything. This might be making CBR really popular.

Not sure if they did any other refurb on the resort but they definitely did the pool area, here's a link:

Otherwise i'm out of ideas :confused3

I know, we were there in September & October, the pool is great but I don't know how great copmpared to the previous one, from the pictures I had seen before the refurb it doesn't look much different but even so, I can't see how that would justify a difference in price JUST on the UK website.

It's confusing I know and we really liked it there but because of the extra cost involved we'll probably go to Port Orleans instead.

What dates you thinking of? is it worth you waiting to see about free DDP?
We have booked a studio at OKW for next August for £91/night incl DDP, worked out better value than moderates as they gave 42% discount plus the better DDP.
By time you are ready for booking there could be totally different offers on.

Hi Wayne,

I was just doing a dummy pricing based on the dates for our past September trip as I wanted a rough idea of what to have to save up for for our 2010 trip so I wasn't really in a serious planning phase, just more curious as to why CBR is more expensive.

I hope to book next year when the free dining may be offered again and I hope prices will have calmed down before then so i'll see what's around at that point.

Maybe also because the rooms are slightly larger apparently than the other moderates. I'm booked for there in May, but I've stayed at POR and more recently WL many times. I'm hoping that I won't be disappointed with the step down from WL. Also, as it's been said above, I reckon CBR theme is more popular with UK people vs the themes at POR/FQ and CS.

they have been hyping it up about having new pirate themed rooms and I wonder whether they are cashing in on this??:confused3

There have been a few posts on the resorts thread that seemed to suggest that CBR would now be a good resort to take boys for the pirate theme - although I can't see that this would be a good enough reason to bump up the prices - so just a guess!!:thumbsup2

Yeah I thought this too but it's only the UK site that has bumped up the prices and obviously there are different prices for the themed rooms so I still can't work out why the UK site has bumped their cost up unless it is ust purely because it's popular!

With that said if everyone then starts going to PO or CS will they then bump those prices up there too? If that turns out to be the case it won't be too much more to stay at a Deluxe!!!
