Can I just say that I LOVE SOUTHWEST??!! I just rebooked my flight and saved us $90 (for future travel but HEY - it's $90!!) I was already a fan because we each got 2 bags free. NOW a travel credit. Whoo Hoo!!

because.... I booked both flights together. I couldn't get the ding fare for just one leg...a little dissapointed, but I knew better.

poohfriend - we booked both legs of our trip together - if you mean the initial leaving and then returning flights (not connecting flights). And yes we were able to change the return flight twice (for the same identical flight) and both times saved a bunch of money. If you need assistance, just call SWA and they can walk you through how to do it. Just always check your scheduled flight's current cost before clicking on 'change flights'.

Between the initial flight cost reductions and the return flight cost reductions we saved $205 each over a period of six weeks.

I love Southwest too. I have always been booking my trips as one-ways so I can get a discount on whichever portion of the trip is on sale. I just saved $48.

I also asked if I had to use the credit for the people booked on the discounted fare and they said NO, I can use it for whomever I want. I just need to put in the booking code for this trip. How much friendlier can they get without giving you back the money? You gotta love Southwest.

Glad to hear how much everybody likes them. We just booked for 5 of us in Feb. If anyone has any tips, I'd love to hear them! It is myself, DH, DS14, DS12, and DD8. I am curious about how best to get seat "reservations" or check-in - not sure of the correct term - 24 hours ahead of time for our trip home. Is it easier to do it from our hotel (POP) or should I just have my mom do it for us from home? TIA!

We just rebooked at have a credit of $244. for 2 of us. That should pay for 1 ticket to Vegas in Sept. We just changed our outgoing flight to a later time, return flight was the same but less $$.

We have over $800 in credit with Southwest from our Thanksgiving flights because the price dropped so much from the time we originally booked it!

Now if only Spring Break flight prices would drop....

Sherry - I just went to view/change your flight. Then you go through and at the end you have to 'confirm' to change your flight. I will tell you the price difference/credit that you will have.

You can do it on-line by going to "change/modify your flight", select the portion of the trip you want to change (outgoing or return flight) and select the new flight you are replacing it with. You can either
a) change to a different flight (later or earlier time, etc.) or
b) select the same exact flight again.

As long as the new price is less than the price you purchased at, you'll receive a credit for the difference. The confirmation # serves as the credit # for future use, that'll need to be used within 1 year. KEEP TRACK of your new price each time. FOR EXAMPLE:
If you originally booked at $99 one-way and it drops to $89 you can get a $10 credit each. If it then drops to $74 one-way, you can go through the process again and get ANOTHER $15 each credit. MAKE SURE you don't go backwards and change from the $74 to an $89 flight or you will be charged the difference. They'll give you a warning about this... just be sure the new flight is less that the current one. It make be worth it to fly later or earlier on the same day, so keep checking! (use the "Shorcut" icon to see the full schedule and all the options.

Depending on the price you book at your credits could be much more significant than $10-$15.

Any of you can use it or you can give it to someone else to use - it doesn't have to be anyone on the original reservation.

You can do it either way. If your mom does it for you from home, just go up to one of the kiosks when you get to the airport. You can "reprint" out the boarding pass and it will still have the same line number from when your mom checked in at home.

Earlier this month while staying at POP, we just asked the CM at the POP reservation desk to print out the boarding passes. We had the original confirmation numbers with us and were just under the 24 hour mark to get a boarding pass assignment. The CMs do this all the time right at the front desk.

i *LoVe* southwest airlines... they have it right!

Your money is your money..if you find a lower fare on their airlines they give you credit..it's great.. not like other stupid airlines which charges you 100 bucks to change your flight. Southwest is wonderful and they are good to their employees!

Be sure to sign up for their Frequent Flyer program... and i have a southwest credit card which i use ONLY for booking southwest flights..this combined with the frequent flyer program gets our family free tickets all the time. Gotta be smart and make spending your money get you something back and the southwest rapid reward program and the southwest credit card both do just that!

I just tried to change mine. I booked both depart and return flights together and when I attempt to change the departing flight, it automatically gives me the current rate for the return flight, not the rate I originally booked at. The return rate has gone up so it doesnt save me any money. Am I doing this right? Is there a way to just rebook on flight and not have to pay extra for the return flight?

**Never mind. I just reread the policy and it does state that you may have to pay rate increase on both legs for your trip even if you are changing one flight.

ok just changed mine too !!!! happy happy...it was only $12 total to start but hey its still $$$
now my question is....where do you SEE the credit on the website or when you try to book at a later date does it just pop up that you have x-amount of credit ??

This is great! I just saved $500 on our March WDW trip! ( 5 tix ).

I don't understand those who say that they booked both legs of the trip together, not being able to change one way.. I am confused on that. I booked both the departing flight and return flight in the same transaction and i am able to go in and just select which flight i am able to change out.. I don't understand why some can't??
