Well after lurking for some time on these boards I thought I better start my own trip report. I suppose most people start with who is travelling on the trip.
Well there is me Im Ashley, 23, I live in Edinburgh, my favourite character is Goofy and have been to WDW many times (even worked there for a while but more on that later) but have never visited Disneyland Paris before.
My boyfriend is Rob, 26 and originally from the outskirts of Birmingham but moved up to Edinburgh to be with his Princess in June this year and we have lovely flat that looks over Edinburgh Castle. He also loves Disney, his favourite character is Belle, he has been to WDW many times (worked there also) but like me has never visited Disneyland Paris so this going to be a new adventure for both of us.
We actually met while both working for Walt Disney World, he had been out there since the previous December (2006) and I arrived the following September (2007) to start a one year contract as Cultural Representative in Epcot. Working in the UK Pavilion at the Rose & Crown pub as well as the Fish & Chip hut. We sort of got together on a drunken night out but there was an obvious spark between us and he asked me out. We had our first date at the Magic Kingdom, watching Wishes and Spectormagic . After that night we were inseparable and our managers worked our rota so that we could have the same days off. The best experience we had was when we decided to stay a few nights at Animal Kingdom Lodge, we actually felt like guests because we had our key to the magic card and avoided EPCOT so not to be reminded of work. Here is a pic of the two of us from our wee break to the Animal Kingdom Lodge.
Unfortunately Robs visa expired at the start of December so he had to go home, I was miserable but knew I had to stick it out as my parents, sister, aunt and Uncle were coming out at Christmas to see me. By the time they arrived I was decided that I would return home in January. Disney is completely different when you work for them and I was losing the magic fast so I needed to go home before I refused to visit any Disney park ever again. Me and Rob had a long distance relationship once I returned home but soon he started hunting for jobs in Edinburgh, he got a job with a building society moved in with me and my parents for a total of 7 days before we found our flat in the centre of Edinburgh.
I have just rambled on a bit so I am sorry if I had bored any of you reading but just wanted to share with you our romantic meeting all due to the Mouse.
So back to this trip, our planning started in late September when we both realised that we had loads of holidays still to take before the year ended so we decided on taking the first week in December off. We looked at a few options for holidays, York, London, Barcelona and also Copenhagen (I have always wanted to go to Tivoli) We thought that Disneyland Paris was out of our budget but we had a look at a few websites and found an amazing deal, flying with Air France and staying in the Holiday Inn. I knew this wasnt a Disney hotel but if we didnt enjoy it we could always come again and stay on property. So we booked it.
The dates we have booked are the 2nd of December till the 5th of December.
