I know you can get these but wondered if we would need them in late Jan. during the week?? Thanks

if you start the parks early, you will avoid the crowds.

crowds usually start around 10:30 to 11:00ish on some days. you can see and do a lot from 8:30/9:00 until the park starts to fill out.

if a wait time for a ride is 15 minutes, i wouldn't waste money for the ep.

avoid the weekends. stay with the week days as the parks are less crowded then.

if you go to the universal orlando website, check out the prices for the epp
express pass plus/express pass.

if the cost is $20, that is an indicator of low crowds for the date.
if the cost is high, $45, you can count on large crowds.

i always suggest to day guests not to buy the ep in advance.
when you buy them, they are yours and not refundable.
even if you came to the parks and never used them, still not refundable.

if you find the crowds are greater than what you want to deal with, buy the ep at the park that day.

they can be bought at a couple of the main stores in the park or at guest services.

why waste money on ep when you don't need them.

you will not know for sure if the ep's would be a necessity until you are at the park.

As Mac stated...no...you would not need them. The park hours for January are 9am-6pm and the Express Passes are selling for $25.99 which indicate the anticipated crowd levels. During the week...you should have absolutely no problems with lines.

Thanks I am thinking of going on Tuesday for sure and possibly Friday if we go back another day. We will go to MK on Wed. and EC on Thur. Probably another Dis park on Sat.

i haven't checked the january emh schedule for disney yet but wednesdays when i was there the other month, had a late emh night in the magic kingdom.
check out and see which night is the emh for mk before you pick that park to do that day and evening.

i found that the park that has the late closing at wdw, usually gets the larger crowds from about 4 to 10:30 at night.

there are some days and time periods in jan. that have large crowds in the mk.
martin luther king day period, the marathon, and something else.
other than that, disney used to have quiet low crowds in parts of january.
with the free dining and promo they have going on for 2009, i don't know if there will be a low attendance period as we used to know.

epcot has the late closing on fridays, or they did in october.

find out which late night is when and you might want to flip flop a day for universal with one of the disney days you tenatively have planned.

tuesday will be great for universal.
friday should be fine also. universal is calm for most of january for the weekdays.

you can plan the best days for each park in advance so you can have a great vacation.
you know the hours for universal for january.
find out the emh days for the parks at wdw. i am assuming you are staying on site at wdw. the early and late nights in their parks are only for their resort guests. if you are staying off site, scratch what i said earlier on the emh scheduling.

yes, i started going to disney in 1974.
i started going to universal the year after they opened.

annually i do florida and do both the motherland and the darkside on each trip.
it is like having 2 separate vacations.
15 days of fun.......woo hoo.......

Thanks I use Tour Guide Mike and Wednesdays are ALWAYS a great day and night to go unless by chance there is an EMH but that was not the case this past July/Nov. trip. We are staying at OKW. I like "motherland and darkside". LOL

We were in the parls on MLK day last year and were able to do both parks in one day but we didn't ride the two upside down coasters.
