Premium Loops - which are done?

After a couple months of trying, I was just able to get a premium site for the remaining days of our T'giving week trip (I had the beginning of the week but not Wednesday-Sunday). Hooray! For anyone looking for a preferred site that week, I'll be cancelling a reservation for 11/22-11/30 today as soon as I get my e-mailed confirmation for the premium site.

Anyway, now I'm wondering which premium loops will be finished by Saturday. I think I've read that 500 and 800 are open; is there another one that is due to open this weekend? Are the new premium sites really easy to get into for big rigs? We've got a 45 footer with a humongous wheelbase and parking it is like docking the Queen Mary.

When I was last at the Fort on 11/2/08, the 500 and 800 loops were open as premium loops. The work on the 400 loop was underway. I do not have an update on what has happened in the last two weeks. My suspicion is that they were trying to have the 400 loop done by Thanksgiving week. I do not know if they will make it. So, the only loops that are surely open as premium loops for now are 500 and 800. You should not have a problem with any of the sites on these loops.

When I rode by the backside of the 400 loop (Orange line route) on Saturday, it appears as if they are almost ready to open it up. The pavement work was done and all forms had been removed. The new grills and picnic tables were installed. There were several pieces of large equipment still remaining in the loop but they should be gone soon. I'll try to ride by today and provide an update later.

We stayed in 600 loop this weekend. As stated, 400 looks to be almost ready, but there are a lot of little flags scattered around yet and the site markers were not in place. These photos were taken on Friday morning Nov. 14th.

It looks like they closed the 1200 loop today and there are pickups, back hoes, and bobcats everywhere. Not sure if this will be a premium, and it's the one furtherest from the Meadows ... I think the 1300 is adjacent to the Meadows, but those sites are beyond my world of the 1600 - 1900 loops :lmao:

Mdoc congrats on getting your needed days! I lucked out earlier and was able to get the days I needed as well. So, it looks like I'll be seeing you there!

PS
I req. the 800 Loop

When we rode by the 400 loop yesterday, they were putting down the pine straw and several of the larger pieces of equipment were being moved out. I would suspect it would open up today or tomorrow. As Larry stated, the 1200 is being torn up now and they seems to be moving rather quickly on it. I guess they want to try and get it finished before Thanksgiving.

Thanks for the updates, Tony, Larry and Rapriebe! Sounds like they are getting the renovations down to a science. The serious work on the 400 loop began on 11/2/08, and they are about done. Done in 2 1/2 weeks! Not bad.

I would be surprised to see the 1200 loop done by Thanksgiving. If I had to bet, I will bet that they will work up until this weekend, and then let campers in. Then, lay off for the next week, and then jump on it between until the Christmas crowds arrive in another three weeks.

It sounds like I am going to need to make a surprise inspection in the next week or so.

We just got back from MK and from the bus it looks like the 400 loop is done, can't see any equipment and no RVs in it yet. Earlier today we had two people come by and fiddle with the main cable box behind our site. Just went out and looked and all the sites I can see around me including ours has the box on the pedestal completed. Tomorrow sometime I will hook up the cable and see if it's working.

O.K. just hooked up the cable in our site (1800 loop) and we have it. Haven't checked all the channels but the TV says 64 analog and 27 digital.

Larry, just curious, I was told by a CM even with cable the 1600 -1900 will remain full hook-up priced, can you confirm or deny this statement?

I believe they are since the full price for our current stay is 52.88/night. We just paid for the first 30 days with a AAA discount and the total was 1269.00.

I've been wondering this all along. If all loops are to have cable when it's said and done, and full hook-up is transferring to "preferred" will they give me a discount? It's one of those, punish us for making early reservations before refurb work began and then you guys who made full hook-up ressies are rewarded (not saying there is anything wrong with that side of it either; I would be pleased if it had happened that way to me).

The only reason I went with preferred when we made our ressive 14 months ago was so we would have cable. I hate if I get by something that blocks my satellite signal and I have no TV.

So, it looks like 1600, 1700, 1800, 1900 are all converted to premium loops but yet there are people in there who lucked out and only had to pay full hook-up price. well, dangit. I am always on the wrong side of things like this:sad2:

Lopps 1700 and 1900 are now preferred sites not full hookup. If you want to stay in them, they will add the difference from your reservation $$ between full and preferred which is $203.56 for November. I suspect 1600 and 1800 will be converted soon to preferred since cable has been installed. Why would they keep those loops as full since they changed 1700 and 1900 to preferred. 1300 is still full hookup but I'm not sure if it's pet or not.

What is your base rate before taxes, etc. per day. The rates even for the full hookups vary depending on the day of the week and around holiday periods. $203 for a month is less than $7/day. One nice thing today is that while we were totally up front and put it down we we weren't charged the $5/day pet fee nor the extra for the 2 weeks our son was with us. That along with the AAA discount saved us close to $500 for the period 20 Oct to 20 Nov.:woohoo:
