Just checked the budget board and there are lots of links, but they are all for our friends to the south. Just wondering if anyone can tell me where they got their best deal for the DS lite and the 8G ipod?pirate:

Thanks:santa:

Sears and Costco are the best for the DS and Costco for the Ipod

I beg to differ. Sears seems to be higher and Costco has a package that includes games that may not be suitable for all.

Nintendo has set the price for the DS and retailers are not allowed to discount or put on sale, unless a special deal such as Toys R' Us or Walmart has gotten lately.

If you have Shoppers Optimum points you can get your DS for almost free - it's a few dollars higher than the $129.99 list price, but depending upon how many points you have, you could get it for free!

Happy shopping, Tiger :)

Sears has a package deal with the DS a case and 3 games for 189. Costco bundle is Mario or Zelda the DS and a case and one of the Brain Age games at 188.

Thanks - I was just referencing DS unit and no bundles. Sears is $10.00 higher for the unit alone. We find the bundles aren't that great as the games aren't ones we necessarily want, and we can't pick our colour.

If it works out for the OP though, the Sears bundle does look good!

Thanks, Tiger :)

We bought 2 last year at Wal-Mart $99 or $109 each. They price matched a sale Zellers had on at the time.

Toys-r-us had a big DS games sale in early december last year.

I lined up for the sale and got some great deals.

iPod's I would check Wal-Mart or Costco.

If you you're interested in an extended warranties think about Apple Care. It offers 2 years of phone support, extend the guarantee by a year, also covers the ear buds and the shipping.

I just bought ds5 a ds last week from Toys r us.ca. They had a deal where If you bought a ds and a game you got a 10 dollar gift card plus I had an additional promo code for another 10%off:thumbsup2

The cheapest I have seen 8g Ipod so far is Walmart. Last year during Boxing Day sales I was able to get a 8g ipod touch for less than 200.

For just the DS then Wal Mart or Toys R us would be where I would head to.

Here is a promotional code that I used at sears to save 20.00 off 100.00 before taxes is 941612795. It brings the DS to 119.00 and free shipping.

We've been looking at ipods too - my 14yo had his 80gig ipod classic that he had saved for all summer and just bought on Aug 30th stolen right out of his coat pocket at school last week and because we used our Options Master card to pay for it and it was only bought less then 3 months ago it covers it for theft - it also extended the manufacturer's warranty so check your credit cards - I will always make a purchase like that on a credit card now!!

Everyone seems to be around the same price for the ipods - Costco is a bit cheaper but not much. We want to get it somewhere that will give us an extended warranty plan - does anyone know if Costco does this??

Which unit are you planning to replace it with?
The 32 GB iPod Touch looks nice and can also give your DS Wifi access.

EB Games usually has a deal on the DS. It changes, but generally you get the DS for $99 with the purchase of 2 games of your choice.

The Real Canadian Superstore always sells the DS for $129. They are due for a 'no tax' weekend in the next few weeks.

Not sure yet - waiting to hear how much they will cover it for before we tell him how much he will have. He spent $250 plus tax and the cost of the service plan on the original 80gig classic. Thinking the touch might be the way to go for the next one but not sure. Dh was talking about an ipone but he doesn't have or have need of a cell phone right now and I can't stand seeing teenagers with them glued to their ears. Can't see paying a monthly fee for one when he takes the bus to and from school and if he goes out he takes my older model 'uncool' cell phone!! :lmao:

RE: Sears Bundle. I just priced it out separately, and it is not really a huge savings, so you basically get the case for free. Here is the breakdown:

Console $129.00
Games x3 $60.00
Price $189.00

The regular price is ridiculous (savings of $25.00 according to website) as their console is priced higher, plus it's like they added in the cost of the case. If people can use the promotional code that tinkershae provided, then that is a better deal.

We just ordered our daughter her pink DS through HBC Rewards online for 1,000,000 points. Have been collecting points for approx. 13 years now - it was cheaper to use points than to buy gift cards and then purchase in store.

Happy DS shopping, Tiger

If there aren't many deals on the DS' I would seriously recommend anyone getting it at EB so you can get the extended warranty with it - my almost 9yo has one and I've seen how hard he is on it. OR check your credit cards to see if they have the extended warranty coverage - we've learned the hard way that it's worth every penny!!

we bought our ipod through apple @ yorkdale and have rec'd excellent customer service including a price match when it went lower @ future shop. bought the itouch through costco and have not had any issues.

we bought the brain age ds bundle when it was on for $168 @ costco & it was a good deal for us b/c we are giving it as a gift to MIL. so it has the nice adult looking carry case, the brain age game etc. (also Mario but we'll keep that game).

we'll be in the US for Black Friday so I'll be curious to see the deals there.

I have been reading some of the early release BF flyers that tend to get leaked and to be honest there aren't that many deals. Many stores are allready running deals that are very close if not better than many of the BF deals for electronics.

We were at Best buy last night as that's where our ds' bought his original ipod - he also got the extra service plan and they said because it was stolen if he buys another ipod of the same model they will transfer the service plan over - if he switches and buys a touch (which I think he'll do) then they will refund the cost of the service plan and re-charge us for it. That's where we'll be buying ds' ipod - happy that they are willing to do that - we asked the same Q at future shop and they had said if we had bought it there we would have been out of luck!

Pretty funny considering they are the same company. Apparently BB in the US is almost in the same situation as Circuit City is down there so hopefully they do not go belly up up here also.

I've read good things on the Budget board about buying refurbs thru Apple - has anyone done this? It would be a great stocking stuffer to get a low priced refurb shuffle.
