Disney with two broken arms - (Final Day 1/23)

I just stayed up until 2am to read this entire report...and my laptop's battery died most of the way through. I had to get the charger to finish!!

I can't wait to read the next installment. ;) Thanks for sharing your awesome trip!

Blizzard Beach looks like fun, I am not much of a water park girl.
Love the pix at the shoot. How long in advance did you have to book the photo shoot?

I love the water parks. The pictures are really nice good idea having dh kiss you.

Okay, so I was wrong!!! I don't know why, but I thought maybe you guys looked into DVC on your free day...guess I should have thought a bit more about things and thought you would try a water park again since you loved it so much earlier in the week. :rolleyes1 Oh well. Great update and I can't believe that lady tried to take your tube!! What do people think?!!:confused3 Love the new pics from that photoshoot too, too cute of DH kissing you!!:lovestruc Looking forward to hearing the rest of your day....:flower3:

So which water park did you guys like the best? I think our favorite overall is Typhoon Lagoon but we like the family raft ride at BB better. Too bad ya didn't get over to DisneyQuest. It's a lot of fun over there if you like video games.

I am loving your trip report. I too was up last night till almost 2am reading it lol.
Your making me very excited about our trip in 17 days! I hope we have as much fun as you did.

Once again a fun update:thumbsup2 except for the rude woman at BB:sad2: sounds like you had a fun day. You had so many cute pics from your photo shoot..you all look great.

Great update! Those pictures were great!! And maybe next time someone takes your raft, you should just give 'em a little shove down the slide.:rotfl: :rotfl: You could take her!!

Beautiful pictures! You have a beautiful family and I have enjoyed reading your report. Thanks for sharing.

They currently allow you to book the photo shoot no more than 30 days ahead. Which I did.:goodvibes

Yes, water parks are the best.:thumbsup2

Well that was a good guess too. It always makes it more fun to have people guessing so thanks for playing along.:goodvibes

Yes, we were glad we tried them both. We love them both but Typhoon Lagoon is our favorite too. You are definitely right about the family raft ride at BB. Come to think of it I think DD7(now 8) said she liked BB better because of the big kid's play area.

I am loving your trip report. I too was up last night till almost 2am reading it lol.

Wow, you will have so much fun. We want to take a December trip next year. WDW looks like sooo much fun during the holidays. Thanks for staying up till 2 just to read my TR.:goodvibes

Once again a fun update:thumbsup2 except for the rude woman at BB:sad2: sounds like you had a fun day. You had so many cute pics from your photo shoot..you all look great.

Yeah, it'd be hard not to have a great day at a Disney WP w/ low crowds and warm sun.:cutie:

Great update! Those pictures were great!! And maybe next time someone takes your raft, you should just give 'em a little shove down the slide.:rotfl: :rotfl: You could take her!!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Now why didn't I think of that?

Beautiful pictures! You have a beautiful family and I have enjoyed reading your report. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for posting and for sticking around.

So we left off lunch time at BB. We must have been eating a late lunch since we had a late breakfast at Poly. There were lots of open tables which was nice. Here's a pet peeve of mine. Why do people feed all the animals right in the middle of the picnic area? Yes, I can see how it's entertaining but it is also very distracting and I think rude to the people around you. Not to mention how un-natural it is for these animals of the wild to be dependent on french fries and cookies. There was seriously food flying all around us the whole time we were eating. It wasn't just the children either. Grown men were throwing fries everywhere. Birds flying inches from our head and squirrels at our feet. The girls were entertained and couldn't understand why I wouldn't let them throw anything.

After lunch the girls and I decided to try the boppy wave pool while DH went back to our chairs for a nap. We enjoyed the wave pool and the girls liked that they could ride on tubes and wear life jackets in this wave pool but it really doesn't compare to that of TL.

It actually started raining while we were in the wave pool. Everyone just stayed in and the rain stopped after about 10 minutes. We hadn't seen rain in several days. It had rained quite a bit the first couple days of our trip because of Hurricane Ike in the coast. After that there was NO rain for several days. And this was the last bit of little rain we saw before leaving. When we made it back to DH he was sleeping under a shelter and didn't even know it had rained. DH thought we weren't gone nearly as long as we had been at TL in the wave pool and it was true. It didn't keep our interest near as long.

So after waking DH we of course went for our third ride on the family raft ride.:thumbsup2

Next the girls wanted to try the toboggan belly slides. The only reason I think DD4 really wanted to do it was because they were purple. I thought that ride really was not a good idea for me since you had to support yourself on your belly and arms as you go down. Poor DH was starting to get tired of the whole "swim thing" but he went with the girls. It was fun to stay at the bottom and watch them come out. I was worried about DD4 falling in the deep water when she came out but she just stayed on her little purple toboggan until DH got her off. They did this ride one more time. By now they were already making announcements that the park would be closing soon and the girls still wanted time to play in the sand.

We made our way back to our chairs and allowed the girls to play in the sand. You'll notice in the pictures that literally we are the only people around. Everyone else had already cleared out.

DD7 liked to top her "castles" w/ a leaf.

So finally when the lifeguards started to pick up all the chairs we reluctantly left. It really took DH and I some time to coax the girls out. They did not want to leave. At this point we were still planning on going DTD and Disney Quest. Our plan was to go by the resort to change and clean up quick then head out.

In my next post I will explain why our plans changed and what I did that evening. My next post will be my "solo outing report".:cool1:

Love the pic of you and girls in the pool with the slide behind you, too cute. How lucky you were to have no rain most days while vacationing. It rained and I mean, RAINED, every day we were there last year. Ooo....a night out alone?!! I can't wait to hear all about it! Good for you!!:goodvibes

:thumbsup2 I agree; this behavior is not only annoying but dangerous too! I've seen really big seagulls swoop down on strollers and steal food right from babies' fingers, barely missing their hands/ heads.

That's awesome that you got the whole area to yourselves! Kind of makes the experience that much more special.:goodvibes

:lmao: We've had birds attack us at the Magic Kingdom (it's ALWAYS over in the Liberty Square area) and once they took off with our turkey leg!!! I kid you not. :rotfl2: Those birds can be dangerous!

Love the update. I wouldn't want to leave if I were the girls either. They were having a good time playing in the sand. :goodvibes

Wonderful Update I love all the pictures at BB espcially the one of you and the girls in the wave pool and the one of DD7 dropping into the water! :rotfl:

The birds were nasty at Mexico where we ate lunch one day. The same place where you got sick I think, the CS place. They were bothering everybody. Your BB pics were great.:thumbsup2

Yes, I think we did turn out really lucky. All the hurricanes had made me nervous.

Wow that is a scarey thought.:scared1:

OK - you are really selling me on these water parks! LOL!

Looks so fun! :)

It is definetely fun!:cutie:

I've heard of them taking a whole funnel cake but not a turkey leg.

Seems like the birds have definitely developed an appetite for human food.popcorn::

We left off leaving Blizzard Beach. Since it was already past closing time we didn’t take time to change or clean up and went straight to the bus stop. There were about 10-15 other people besides us at the bus stop. We waited and waited and waited. DH and I counted 8 buses come and go for Port Orleans while we were waiting. If there weren’t other people I’d of thought we were left behind. For a long time there was no CM in sight. Finally a woman from our stop found a CM. He seemed very rude to her and simply stated, “Now you weren’t here when there were like 4-5 buses lined up for POP now were you?” What good does it do us if they all showed up in a cluster and left empty? After 50 minutes (I kid you not). A bus that was completely full pulled up on it’s way home from AK. Somehow the driver was able to get the people already standing on that bus to scoot back enough to let us all on. It seems that since AK and BB closed at the same time most of the buses were filled there and forgot about us.

When we got back to POP DD4 was tired and whiney. In fact she wouldn’t even walk. DH had to carry her. So perhaps the long wait at BB was a blessing. We realized DD4 would not make it at DTD. It was better for her to break down at the resort than when we were out. Sometimes I hear people talk of the water park days as relax days but they seem to tucker my kiddos just as much if not more than the other parks.

We were getting kind of low on our Counter Service Credits since we had done HDDMR (2 credits) and tomorrow would do Cinderella’s Royal Table (2 credits), so we all shared 2 CS pizzas w/ dessert. We already had refillable mugs. That was plenty of food for us all.

DH was fine w/ just staying at the resort and heading to bed early tonight so I saw my golden opportunity. I could finally go see Illuminations! :cool1: I had been watching those fireworks from the resort the whole time and even though we spent two full days in Epcot we had not seen it.

I helped bathe DD4 to get her ready for bed. While I was sitting on the edge of the tub I was leaning over to help her when I lost my balance and cracked my right arm on the tile wall. OWE. It hurt almost as much as when I first broke it. I went straight to my medicine stash and popped 3 or 4 Motrin. That was not the last incident w/ my arm this evening. It seems on was on a mission to re-injure myself.

At 7:20 I left for Epcot. I really enjoyed some “me-time”. My DH would tell you I am not generally the type to want a lot of “me-time”. I really enjoy being with my family and sharing experiences together but after now 9 days of almost 24-7 togetherness I was definitely ready to be alone. (Just me and hundreds of other strangers).:grouphug:

Epcot has a beautiful atmosphere at night and I enjoyed strolling along taking it all in. I stopped by their gift shop and looked around for a while. It was great to look at what I wanted and not be worried about where the children were. When I came out of the shop I made my way toward the World Showcase and the fountain show was happening. I had heard that the fountain does little shows to music but had not yet seen one so I was glad I got to see it.
DisneyWorld2008092.jpg

I stopped to have my picture taken just to document that I indeed had been at Epcot myself.
image290.jpg

By now it was about a quarter past 8 and I could see people starting to pick there spot for Illuminations. I first got a Margarita from Mexico. Yes, I do still think you should definitely avoid the food. But since the little Margarita shop was separate I thought it would be safe which it was. It was also very good. I found a nice spot along the railing in Norway, sipped my Margarita and people watched.
DisneyWorld2008093.jpg

I LOVE the music they play at night before Illuminations, so calming. Not to mention what great sound system they have all around World Showcase.

I had never been or read much about Illuminations so didn’t really know what to expect. I loved when they turned the torches on shortly before the show.
DisneyWorld2008094.jpg

I had a wonderful viewing spot for the show and I recorded the whole thing. I wanted to share it w/ my family since they weren’t there. The girls have watched it but DH hasn’t yet. And even though the video is great it just is not the same as actually being there. Here is a piece of the video I like. At the end of the clip everyone claps but it is not quite the end.

What a great show!

When it was over I walked quickly through the crowd to get to the bus. I realized you can move much faster w/o a family because you can just slip through open gaps. In my rush to get out I ended up tripping over a curled up mat and almost falling. I heard someone behind me make a remark about how I almost broke the other arm. If they only knew.

I was on a bus by 9:30. Not bad considering the show started at 9. On the bus I found a pole to hold on to w/ my left (casted hand). This nice older lady that was also solo meant well and told me to come back to the other side so I could hold on w/ my right arm. You know if I’d been thinking I would have at least worn my sling on the bus. Maybe I would have gotten a seat more often. I moved back to make more room but still had to stand backwards and hold on w/ my left side. I was back at the POP by 9:40. I got out my refillable mug, got a drink and headed up the stairs to our room. Here’s where I had my next arm trauma. Somehow in my hurry I caught my foot on the stairs and fell straight down. Well of course it’s instinct to catch yourself with your arms. OWE. :scared: So, painful. I couldn’t immediately get up. My drink went flying. I could hear people coming up the stairs so I mustered the strength to get up and save myself embarrassment. I remember my whole body physically shaking from the pain. I made it back to the room, took a few Tylenol since I had taken motrin before leaving and went to sleep. I actually slept pretty well.

All in all I am SO glad that I got to see Illuminations and I enjoyed some alone time as well.

Next up:hourglass : Cinderella’s Royal Table!

Cannibalism!!
