What would be a fun place for boys ages 9 and 11 to eat while at DW. We have one character breakfast - even though I think my boys are a little old for it --- but I still wanted to do it. What is a "fun" dining experience.

First, I don't believe that anyone is too old for a character meal

"Fun" places for 9 & 11 year old boys: Whispering Canyon Cafe, Sci-Fi, 50's PTC, ESPN Club, Planet Hollywood, Rainforest Cafe, T-Rex

WCC and 50s PTC rank at the top for me. I am a 43 yr old kid if that counts;)

Definitely, no one is too old for characters.

My boys 12-16 want to do Teppan Edo and 50's PT. They also love the Garden Grill at Epcot.

The nice thing about eating at WDW is that you are never to old
to eat at a Character Meal. Everyone at the Character Meals
are all different ages and on one judges you about how old you.
If you don't make them feel like they are to old--let them enjoy being a kid.
My DS (almost 13) loves "O'hanas Best Friends Breakfast" we have ate
there every trip for the past 3 years. This last Trip DS really enjoyed
the Sci-Fi Cafe'--sitting in the vintage car tables was such fun.
We all really enjoyed eating at Tusker House Donalds Safari Breakfast--AK.
On our upcoming trip we will be trying Coral Reef-Epcot and O'hanas for
Dinner.

My son was 8 during our last visit and we did 1900 Park fare. It was his favorite too! He loved the Step Sisters!

I vote for Sci-Fi cafe at the Studios - sitting in cars watching old sci-fi flicks - like a drive-in and if they like aquariums/fish - coral reef at EPCOT...beaches and cream at Beach Club for the kitchen sink dessert!!!!

My son was 10 on our last visit. He loved CM. He asked to go back there again this year, he's 12 now. We have reservations at 1900 Park Fare. I think he'll like the step sisters. He's way more into the funny experiences like Chip and Dale, Goofy, etc then the Pooh characters. I find myself getting excited about the characters so I think that makes the boys find it more fun too.

My son is also 10 and a big thumbs up for Biergarten too (loved the food and the fact that the soft drinks are served in beer glasses). Also, he really enjoyed Boma.

His favourite however still remains Crystal Palace - isn't it strange how on holiday with no-one who knows you a boy can still get excited about Pooh Bear. Just remember to hide the photos when you get home.LOL

DS was 11 on our last trip. His favorites were Coral Reef, Teppan Edo, and eating around the world at EP CS :cool1:

Coral Reef was nice and might be fun for boys that age to see the huge aquarium. Chef Mickey's has been one of my favorite Character meals, they have a make your own sundae bar which they might enjoy.

Prime Time Cafe was cute but I think it might be hit or miss depending on your server. Our server didn't seem too into it, but we had a blast watching the table next to us and their server who was really into it.

Hi!

I have 4 boys - ages 11,9,7,1 and here is where we are dining in December (they helped pick the restaurants - been there before so they know what they like!)

Hoop Dee Doo (perfect for this age boys!)
Tutto Italia
Mama Melrose or Brown Derby
'Ohana (one of their absolute favorites!)
Boma (9 year old cannot wait! Very adventurous eater!)
Cape May Cafe (my kids LOVE seafood!)
Chef Mickey (great for all of us!!)

And the grand finale: The Toy Story Mania DisMeet Dessert Party!!!!!!!!!!!

You'll be fine as long as you avoid the Princesses!!:thumbsup2

My son was 8 during our last visit and we did 1900 Park fare. It was his favorite too! He loved the Step Sisters!

We spent 10 days at the GF this past June and I never thought to dine at 1900 Park Fare for breakfast or dinner, since I have boys. Well, walking thru the lobby one evening, DS4 sees they left the door open to the restaurant and he catches a glimse of Cinderella and Prince Charming dancing. He now has to meet this beautiful princess! :lovestruc We're going directly there for our first meal this trip! :rotfl2:

Hi!

You'll be fine as long as you avoid the Princesses!!:thumbsup2

My DS4 is a flirt and loves to see the Princesses! :lovestruc One Princess meal isn't going to hurt anyone :rotfl2:

On the question of character meals being too "young", I scheduled some for us for the first time in in a long time last year. DS was 17, DD16, DD's BFF 16, me and DH. The two that I thought would hate it ended up having the most fun!! DH who doesn't like WDW and DS17 who it wouldn't be cool to be seen with the characters had a blast!! DD and her BFF had a great time too, but weren't quite as in to it as the guys were!!! Too funny!!!

I would reccommend Chef Mickeys, Sci Fi Dine In, 50's Prime Time, Ohanas, WCC, Trails End, HDDR and Garden Grill! I have a 11 yo ds that has been many times, and these are ones he loves!:rotfl: He also like Planet Hollywood and RFC!:confused3
