Babies at restaurants

Youngest DS is 6 months and not sitting by himself yet and therefore he´s not used to being in a highchair. Will we have to hold him in the restaurants or are there other options available?

I've read many reports that in cases like that most people are allowed to bring strollers into the restaurants.

Bumping because I'd like to know this as well! It was bothering me earlier and I forgot all about it.

My DD will be 4 months when we travel, and I hope I don't have to hold her throughout our meals!

Oooh, I hope you're right! I just made ressies for Le Cellier for my DH's birthday!

When we went to CP in July they asked me if I needed a high chair or if I'd be bringing in our stroller. DS was 9 months old and was able to sit and since it was breakfast we used the high chair. During that same trip we went to Biergarten and brought in the stroller that time because it was for dinner and I wanted him to be comfy in case he started to get sleepy.

My DS wasn't sitting until 6 months but was still fine in a highchair at 4 months. I had a small baby pillow that I used to tuck in behind him. When we were in Disney in Aug, and he was 5 months, he had no trouble in the highchairs. Once the belt is tight it really helps to stabilize them. When I wasn't using the pillow I would just sit him all the way to the back of the chair, use the belt and pull the highchair as close as I could to the table. Just an idea if you don't want to hold your child or bring a stroller in~

I took my daughter at 5 months and many restaurants had a special high chair that had a reclined seat in it - almost like a car seat. I know Crystal Palace had one - so ask when you are waiting to be seated. It was great. Good luck!

Like others have said, often if they can, they will let you bring your stroller into the restaraunt. Don't count on this if you are going and/or eating at a peak time. Some restaraunts have the infant chairs, but don't count on that either.

If you are bringing your own stroller and your child is still in an infant carrier, that could be your way to go in a crowded restaraunt, where there are no infant chairs available and it's too crowded to roll the stroller in.

Just include the infant as a person when making the reservation because they take up space. Choices may include using a high chair, placing an infant carrier on a regular chair, or replacing a chair with a stroller. However, if you do not include the infant when making the reservation you may end up having to keep the child in someone's lap.

I thought you needed to include infants in the headcount whether they sit on your lap or not.

You do. I have read posts where people did not include the infant when they made their reservation and were surprised that the infant was added to the party size when they checked in at the restaurant.

Thanks for starting this thread! My son will be 5.5 months old when go in January. I am hoping he will be sitting by then, but I have no idea if he will or not. DH and I have been to WDW lots and lots of times, we've gone 2-3 times a year for the past 8 years we've been married, but this is our first time traveling with a baby. I have a feeling it's going to be very different!

When I made my ressie @ Le Cellier I made sure to mention my DD, and the CM said "Party of 3". I actually feel better about that because I'd rather be at a 4 person table than a 2.

On the plus side, our ressie for dinner is late (8:25 P), so I don't anticipate having any problems.

When we went with our dd at 4 months I thought this would be an issue but it really didn't end up being much of a problem. We got a lot of booths and I could put her down next to me if I needed to. Or it wasn't a big deal to take turns holding her.
