DW is a teacher. We have no choice but to cross the Peace Bridge @4:30pm on Friday March 13th (start of March Break). Anyone have an educated guess as to how long we'll be at the border? We're setting aside 60 minutes...

Definatly plan for 60mins and hope for less. In the past most of the traffic has been from 8am to 1pm. At these times there could be a 2hr wait. The US border patrol is well aware of the March break traffic and do their best to speed things along. Honestly your better off leaving later.

Check the Peace bridge website before heading out it will give you an idea of how the traffic is moving. http://www.peacebridge.com/webcam.php

Are you flying out that night ?
(if not,dont cross until about 8pm or later).

If you do have to catch a flight that night,make sure you have a little more of a cushion (1 hour might turn out to be 1-1/2 or 2).
Then again, as a previous poster mentioned,the majority of folk may have crossed already.:confused3

Thanks for the responses. We are driving down this time. Going to drive about 8 - 8 1/2 hours Friday night (including border crossing) and then drive all day Saturday to get to WDW. I think we'll leave as planned (3:30pm from Burlington) and hope for the best at the border but expect the worst and go from there. Thanks again for the info...

Hi everyone - sorry I don't mean to steal the thread :3dglasses. This will be my first time(s) driving to Buffalo airport. I have some questions.

My first time(s):
Jan 3/Jan 4, 2009 - our flight is at 6:00pm Jan 4 departing from BUF. We lived in Richmond Hill (North of Toronto) and expecting 2.5 hour travel time + border wait time. If you were me - will you feel comfortable to leave home around 11am on Jan 4 (Mon)? DW suggested to stay at airport hotel in Buffalo on Jan 3 - but a question - Jan 3 is a Sunday and it might be the last holiday in the New Year weekend ....will the border be extremely busy?

Mar 17/18, 2009 - thanks southwest (travel funds) and Disney (buy4get7)we are visiting WDW again in March break. DD5 has March break from Mar 13 - 30 so we planned to leave in between. Same flight time.

Should we cross border at Peace Bridge or Rainbow Bridge? Any suggestions? Thanks!

The afternoon will be much better than the morning. In my experience, I would estimate 30-45 minutes for the crossing. But do check the official crossing times posted above. Thursday night and Friday morning are the heaviest travel times. Have a safe drive and a great trip!

Two years ago we crossed at the Rainbow bridge on the Friday of March Break at 5:30 pm in less then 10 min. I would highly recommend taking this bridge.
