I am wondering when the best time would be to start to look for our mid-january flight into Orlando? We can fly out of Buffalo or toronto..we prefer buffalo!

Any advice is great!

Check out Southwest.com or Jetblue. We had a great deal with SW flying out at $69/way a while ago.

Just curious to know, why many Canadians prefer to fly from Buffalo? We live in Toronto and always fly from Pearson airport - this coming Christmas will be our first time flying from BUF.

DH said it is huge savings, but I just concern with the extra 2 hours of driving, border wait time, winter road condition, and issues with long-term parking at BUF airport etc.

The taxes and fees out of YYZ are more than the total fare from BUF.
The airport is a joy to use (comapred to YYZ).
Issues with long term parking ?

We flew from buf last year for the first time in Jan! We loved it. The airport isn't big, security line up not bad at all. We live 6 hours north of Toronto, and figured the price was almost double from Toronto then Buffalo, we may as well drive the extra time, and spend the money in Florida, then on airlines! We flew for 4 people last year for about $800 with airtran. This year we booked our Feb flights in May for $72 per person, each way! So it is worth it for us!

BUF to MCO is much cheaper than YYZ to MCO because it's consider domastic flight within US so less taxes and fees. I just booked a SW flight $57 one way non-stop flying from BUF. And yes, because I live in Niagara Falls, it is actually closer to Buffalo airport than to Toronto airport.

Thank you all. How would you guys estimate the travel time (cross-border)?

Not really an issue with long term parking, but just a little worry about the safety issue for leaving the vehicle unattended for a week. Do you put those locks on the steering wheel?

Curious to know, when you cross border, do you tell the US officer that you are going to catch a flight at Buffalo airport (i.e. do you have to be such details)? In the past, we drove twice to New York and they even didn't care which city we would go, and where we would stay. (compared to the US immigration at Pearson Airport). Of course on our way back to Canada we need to show hotel receipts to get tax exemption :cutie:

OH Man, when we went to Disney in April we flew out of buffalo. you will LOVE it! You wiz past the border. When you ays your going on vacation they say ok go on and have a good trip. they don't hold you up! Its a small airport. Park right upfront! It took us 48 min from my door to getting out of the car at the parking lot. I live in Welland!
Small airport! I LOVE it

On the way there they said have a nice trip..never checked our passports. On the way home they said how much..ok..see ya later! Never any issues

We got BUF to MCO in January with SW for $57.00.

That's a deal !

:cool1:
Unfortunatly the $57 wasn't departing or returning on our days! Our cruise won't be in until saturday morning....and the flight leaves to early that day to take advantage of the $57.

We much prefer the BUF airport for a few reasons.

We always include a trip to the Walden Galleria and Target for some shopping. A few times we have hit traffic at the boarder but never really horrible expect March break. Also hit duty free for a few 24's of Alexanders Keith for $15 a case.....:thumbsup2 . Also the airport is just nicer to get around, only 3 or 4 baggage claims in the entire place. I believe 29 gates and 1 terminal. Very relaxing!!!!

Another thumbs up for Buffalo airport. A lot of people crossing the border are going to the airport so US immigration is used to that. I usually do the park and fly and stay overnight at a hotel the night before and that has worked well for us. That way your car is stored in the hotel's lot.

Another one who loves Buffalo. This Dec there are 6 of us going and the total airfare is $620.00 all taxes in return. We got the fly anywhere from Buffalo for 1/2 price special that Southwest had a few weeks ago and got the flights for $36 each way!. :cool1:

The airport is small and very easy to get around. We've left our car there for various lengths of time and have never had a problem. Everyone is so friendly.
