Hi everybody! I've been on these boards forever but never posted anything until now. I need some help. We are currently in WDW at CSR. Unfortunately we do not like it here at all. We would like to switch to another resort. We're here on an AP rate and have checked the internet and there are still other rooms available at other resorts for the rest of our trip (we don't leave until the 22nd of november). Can I switch resorts? I've paid for my entire ressie already half cash and half credit when i arrived how would that work? Do I lose money? Any advice is really appreciated right now!!

I have no idea. Call the main disney number -- I bet that Disney wants to do EVERYTHING to make you happy -- they will make it right.

Keep us posted.

No problem..I've done this twice in the last two months.

Just last week as a matter of fact. Call Central Reservations. Tell them you want an AP rate or the discount code rate currently in effect. Think its DMK.
See which is cheaper. I was in the POR Riverside in the Magnolia Bend area..hated it. Dirty..and gross. (whatever you do..don't switch to there). If you're looking to go to another moderate give Caribbean Beach a try. We visited the food court and checked out the pool last week. Was VERY nice. Rooms appeared bright and cheerful as well. If I were choosing a moderate I'd go there.

Anyway..tell them you are in a resort...not happy with it. Inquire about rates..and if they have what you want take it. Because your date of arrival that day or the next they will probably want the entire balance. They did from us last week. They are changing "room only reservation" policies as well now. Used to be they charged your card when you checked out...NOW you get charged for the entire trip the day you check in, and then they will credit any days you don't stay back to your card. They sited the economy as the reason for the change. In any case.... Go to front desk of current resort and check out. They will credit you for the days you have not used. If you check out prior to 11:00 am, you won't be charged for the day. Pack up and go to other resort. I am assuming you have a car..if you don't..you can arrange with Bell services to have your luggage transferred to new resort. It's done ALL the time. They will likely give you the credit back onto your card. They did offer us a cash refund. As they knew we were going to check into another hotel. They also new that it takes a couple of days for the refund to hit the card. They said if it was a problem, meaning if it we were close to our credit limit because basically two trips were on the card..and the refund wouldn't hit for a day or so. They would give us a cash refund. Since this wasn't an issue for us, we let them just credit the card. Kept the receipt indicating what had transpired.

We transferred from POR to WL last week.

1) Happens all the time.
2) But, you might lose whatever package you have.
3) The second resort frequently charges full rack rate for such transfers.

I just did this last week. Was booked in POR Riverside with an AP rate. Didn't like the resort..put us in the Magnolia Bend area in a filthy room. Call central reservation..explained situation. Asked for AP rate for 4 different resorts. All had availability. I then asked if the current discount code was any cheaper than the AP rate..and it was. I was able to book a room at the WL... a new reservation..at a discounted rate no problem.

I also did this last month when at FW..we had rented a camper and weren't happy with it. We need to transfer to a resort. I was credited the days I wasn't using the site at FW..and then checked into the resort with an AP mid week discount. Couldn't have been easier.

The resorts for years have charged for the entire stay when you check in. As you reach certain spending limits while in WDW they may charge your card again.

Hi dizgal -

I am hoping it all works out for you and you are happy. Lots of posters have suggested calling CRO, but when I had this experience (August 07), I approached a CM in the lobby!!

We were at Yacht Club, 10 days, with my 2 kids and an awesome upsell rate - I think the DDP and 9 days of hoppers was somewhere around 4K.

After 3 days, I realized it just was not for us - a beautiful resort - but just not "right". DD said she wasn't feeling the magic!!

Talked to a CM one morning, and the next day we were moved to WL Courtyard view and were very happy to be back at "our" lodge.

It was an "even" exchange -and everything had to be done all over again - including the dining, but it was well worth it.

They may offer any other mod for you where there is availability. Let us know how it turns out for you, and good luck!

Huh??

We've changed mid-stay before and NONE of the above happened. From what other people are posting, their experience seems to be in line with ours. I wouldn't worry about #2 & #3 (??) above. Check w/the front desk and see what they can do to help. ;)

I think everyone has different experiences, so thus the different answers. But I just recently was at the Wilderness Lodge and changed to the Poly (I love the WL, Poly was more convenient for the stroller is all).

We received the same discount and did not lose anything. The change of resorts went very smooth and both resorts made the change a breeze.

Sorry you are not enjoying CSR. We were in the same situation there in May. We decided to stick it out though (mainly because we didn't like the idea of packing and unpacking again) but wished we would have complained and asked to be moved. Good luck with whatever you decide. . . I know others have suggested asking a CM at the front desk, so maybe you should start there, and if that doesn't work (in my experience the CSR CM's were very rude) then maybe call CRO. I hope you vacation gets better! :goodvibes Let us know what happens.

As someone else suggested CBR, I would too! :thumbsup2

TheRustyScupper is correct about changing your rate, this is part of your agreement.

You have booked an AP Room Rate there may or may not be a room at the other resorts that still have a AP rate available for your dates at that resort.

Sorry :confused3

Ask and see what that can do for you, I'm sure they will try and assist you, Disney wants you Happy.

Yup, that is correct. You'd have to make sure that the AP rate is available at the other resort before you move there. If you do find one, then it's a breeze to check out and check into the new hotel.
You'd just stop by our front desk (I work at Coronado) and let them know that you are moving to another resort and we can give you back any money that you have on your account for any nights stays that you have not yet stayed.

We did this 2 years ago (not AP holders, though). We were at Pop and didn't care for it. I went to the front desk, told them I wanted to move. They called around and found the CSR had availability. Transfterred us and our luggage there the next day.

Easy peasy!

I wish I did this when we stayed at CBR. Looking back, I should have tried to switch. We didn't care for CBR and it may for a terrible stay.

We also had this experience at CSR. Spent most of the trip wishing we were back at WL:cloud9: I did go down to the desk to see if we could move and what was available, but unfortunately it was just after new years and still quite busy with only more expensive rooms available (eg. AKL Savanah) and the cost to move would be too much. The front desk CM was very helpful though, and checked all over for me and I felt kind of bad that I didn't like his resort. Taught us never to "settle" though. We should have booked the resort we really wanted when it was available. I really hope this all works out for you. Let us all know what happens.:)

If you are transferring you really need to call Central Reservations if you are looking to apply your AP rate or a discounted rate.(current promotional code) While the front desk of the resorts will tell you if there is availability at another resort, they aren't able to apply a discount. At least that what we were told when we wanted to transfer...there was availability at the resort we wanted to go to..but to receive the discounted rate we needed to make a reservation through Central Reservations. It wasn't a big deal. Very simple, we made the move and had our discount applied to the room as well. ;)
