Value Resorts

Making an unexpected trip to Disney in Jan. with a friend because of the great value and we decided to just stay at a value resort because of the great rate(usually stay at a DVC). Wondering if they have refig. or if you need to rent one. I've read different reports. Also, which value is best for to girls with no kids or husbands? Also, what buildings to request that are a little more quiet?

As far as the fridges go, yes, you do need to rent one. It is $15 per night, and you pay that when you check in. But well worth it, imho, to be able to have a few snacks and things in the room.

The only value resorts I have stayed at are the All Star Sports and the All Star Music. And suprisingly the Sports seemed a little quieter. Probably because the Music does games by the pool, and that adds a bit of noise and rowdiness to that resort. We had a prefered room at the Sports so we were close to the front, but it was on the back side of the building so it was nice and quiet. No pool noise.:thumbsup2

Both resorts are great, and I would book either of them again in a heartbeat. The All Star Movies however has been getting some not so great reviews. Those rooms have not been redone yet, but the rooms at the Sports and Music have. Apparently the Movies is looking a bit shabby and is in need of some TLC.

The fridge is a mini fridge, 1.5 cubic foot, I believe.
Not worth the money.

Ice is free so we bring a collapsible cooler to keep the milk fresh.

My wife and her sister went to Pop Century last January and had a great time.

I think either Pop or All Star Music would be nice. If you want quiet, ask for the 90's section at Pop and Country Fair at Music. Both are a further walk (but still very doable) and will be quieter. And both have quiet pools nearby.

We stay DVC as well, but love the values. We are doing a week at Music with my inlaws followed by a week at OKW in June. I am every bit as excited for Music!

I love the food courts, the fun theming and the value (no pun intended). We just had four wonderful nights at Pop Century before going over to SSR and again, our nights at Pop were wonderful. NOt to say I don't love my DVC and all that offers, but the values have a lot going for them as well.

Have a great trip!

And I thought the frig's were $10 a night plus tax, not $15. That is what I paid last and that is also what allears has down. I do agree, its not necessarily worth it though. Now if I had a baby and needed to keep formula cold or wanted to keep cold cuts or other food cold that would be different. But I also take a collapsible cooler for water bottles or other drinks I want cold. Those refrigerators at the values and mods are not as big as what they have in the DVC studios.

Once you figure out which value resort you want, check out the budget boards on here for fridge swaps. Many of them are free, and may have a fridge available for your dates.

I rented a fridge for our trip last week, and I think it was a little over $15, once tax was included. Of course, that is the one receipt I can't find.:headache: Either way, I think having a fridge in the room is worth it.
