Big 1 day sale coming up at the Disney Store

I was at the Disney Store yesterday and an associate their gave me a heads up on their biggest one day sales event of the year coming up on Friday November 28. He explained that it is absolutely huge (I don't know what we are talking about discount wise) and it starts at 6 in the morning until midnight. Suppose to be even bigger than boxing day. He saw that my 3 year old daughter was running around the toy section in the store saying "Mommy, I want this, and I want this, and I want this, and this". She was making my mother dizzy with the running around and everything that she wanted. He said they do this sale to compete with the Black Friday sales in the States since the 28th is the day after American Thanksgiving. So just a heads up if you have a long list of Disney Christmas gifts to buy.

WEll that would make sense since it is the US' "Black Friday" so big sales for sure!! I wonder about the opening at 6am though...

I asked him twice about the 6am part because I thought I wasn't hearing right but he confirmed they will open at 6 in the morning. I forgot to ask him though if all the mall doors will be open for the public to acess though. I do wonder about what kind of deals we are talking about and on what. He did say the toys my daughter wanted would be on sale. Hopefully some shoppers here will be able to gather more info as the day approaches and post.

I wonder if any other companies in Canada will also try and compete with the Black Friday sales down south like Disney will. I don't remember anything from past years though.

The Canadian Disney Stores have often mirrored the US Black Friday sales - same items/discounts, but the prices are in CAD$. I know at least one year the flyer was the exact same (except for the prices.)

You might want to snoop around the Budget Board - I'm sure they'll have a sneak preview of what's on sale if anywhere has it.

you are correct!!! it's exactly the same as black friday in the USA. I worked there and did a few of these fridays. There was an early morning sale of a certain % off until 9am and then just the normal sales after that time. It's funny cause we really had to push people to come to the sale. We weren't informed of what was going on sale but when i was there it was 40% off quite a few things.

The Apple Stores in Canada have been having 'Black Friday' sales for the past two years. Could this be a trend for Canadian retailers to abandon Boxing Day?

I doubt it, I just think it's due to less divisions within the companies themselves. Sure there was Hoop retail Canada but all our payroll came from the US.
