Live from WDW, Nicki & Todd do the F&W and 10 days worth of food!!!

I just found your report! Great as usual! I absolutely love your AKV pics. :thumbsup2 We are staying AKV concierge in Aug for 2 weeks. :thumbsup2 It will be our first trip home! :cloud9:

Can't wait to read more...popcorn:: popcorn:: popcorn::

LOVING your live reviews! Sorry Boma was less than stellar for dinner. We're trying it on our Dec. trip but I'm starting to be afraid.

Go grab some tasty coffee from the Kona coffee bar at the Poly. Their Kona caps are fabu!

Ok Nicki, I just showed DMom & DDad your Fulton's review and they've decided we're switching Raglan Road to Fultons :thumbsup2 My DDad must try deep fried lobster hehe

Great pictures so far! :)

We ended up making a meal out of the CL offerings at WL in Aug when we were rained in by Tropical Storm Fay. Only 2 more days until I'm "home"!!

Thank you! Might run into ya when you are here!

Your TR is making me sooooo hungry!!!!:goodvibes We are going to Tony's for lunch next trip too. The calzone looks delish...any other recommendations? Thought maybe you saw some other yummy dishes while you were there. I don; think anyone will want the meatball sub.

The special panini sounded great and the guy next to us ordered the flatbread and that looked amazing!

Our service at Tony's was awful too, but you make me want to try again with the food reviews!!

Yes the food for lunch was great! I hope I can say the same when we try dinner this January

The tomato/mozzerella/basil salad looked yummy! But how did they screw up breadsticks :confused3

CL lounge looked yummy and so did the drinks ;) I do love pool time with pool bar drinks :goodvibes

That's what I said! They were just so dry and had zero flavor! We chilled out at the BWI pool today and it was fantastic!

MMM! The food at the lounge looks YUMMY!

Just stopping by on my way to head out to the AIRPORT!!!! Bring on the food! :thumbsup2

DS and I will see you at CMC in a couple nights! YAY! I can't wait to read more of your reviews...when we get home! LOL!

See you soon!

See you at CMC!

Great reviews!
I was LMAO when I looked at the Tony's menu. My sister and I went there years ago for lunch. She didn't like anything on the menu, so asked if they could make a chicken Caesar salad for her (they had reg. Caesar salad on the menu at the time, but not w/chicken). They said no problem. The Caesar salad alone was about 10 bucks. When we got the bill, they charged $20.99 for the chicken Caesar salad! I said, that's what you get for ordering off menu!
Glad to see they have started to offer it as a chix Caesar salad now, as a more affordable option!

Have fun at F&W today!

WOWZA that is one expensive salad!

Glad to hear you enjoyed Tony's Town Square. DH is very picky with his Italian food (he's Italian, grew up in Italy where his family has owned restaurants) so we've avoided Tony's due to the horrible reviews. But lunch looks pretty good. I'd like that veggie calzone! :thumbsup2 (based on your review, I've convinced him to try Tutto Italia, I'm hoping he likes it! I'm dying to try that baked pasta dish you had there!)

Let us know if you get a chance to have coffee at one of the recommended "good" coffee places. From the article, it says these places actually BREW the coffee, it's not from a Nescafe machine.
,

We are eating at Tutto this weekend so I will let you know if it is still as great as this past March!

Just curious from you post, is this a place it is appropriate to take children? We would love to try this and are thinking of booking our next vacation at AK.

oh, and just want to say I am so glad I found this report. I read one of your reports in the past and loved it.

Happy Late Birthday!! Sound like you had a great day.

Jiko was a nice quiet place and we did not see any kids while we were checking in or eating dinner but they did have a huge basket of crayons and coloring pages so I assume they are very child friendly. We ate early, 5:30 so maybe kids come later? I would think they would be there early

Awesome update Nicki! Now I want to change my ADRs again to add Tony's but it will just have to wait for next trip.

So little time too many restaurants!

Seems like the CL was really worth it.. breakfast and dinner.. wow.

Yes it was!

Hope you enjoy AKL CL as much as we did!

LOVING your live reviews! Sorry Boma was less than stellar for dinner. We're trying it on our Dec. trip but I'm starting to be afraid.

We do have a Kona breakfast scheduled so I hope we make it! I love their pressed pot coffee!

Ok Nicki, I just showed DMom & DDad your Fulton's review and they've decided we're switching Raglan Road to Fultons :thumbsup2 My DDad must try deep fried lobster hehe

Your mom is gonna clobber me! We ditched RR for Flying Fish tonight, review coming right up!

Your birthday dinner at Fulton's sounds wonderful! :thumbsup2 How sweet of those ladies, and everyone else, to sing for you.

Not a nice last day at AKL....we were told multiple times that the painting was completed and we would not have any interuptions during our stay...NOT TRUE. The interior halls were painted all day long and the exterior right outside our balcony was being painted starting at 7am and lasting pretty much all darn day....needless to say DH was not pleased at all....he was really itching to leave AKL so we decided to check out right after breakfast and head over to the BWI.

Honestly I think the only thing DH liked about our AKL stay was the CL lounge and the Sunrise Safari, he says the resort is just too far from everything and he missed walking to Epcot or taking the monorail to MK. Plus the place was very very very loud at all times. You could hear all your neighbors at all hours of the day and mousekeeping is not quiet at all, maybe there are just very thin walls. For the price we paid it was a great deal but he has no desire to go back there (but I would  ) and he did say that he would stay CL somewhere else any time!

So this morning was our last day at the AKL so we had a very early breakfast at Boma, 7:40 am. Usually the place is super dead around this time, just how we like it! I left my camera in the room so I could not take new pictures BUT the food was exactly the same as it has been the last 4 times we have eaten here and the food was still super duper good! So if ya'll dont mind I will post pictures from an older trip.

Pictures coming next!

After breakfast we checked out of AKL and checked into BWI. This is our first time at this resort but we did scope it out this past April when we were at the YC. Again I booked this resort with the 40% off code, a nice garden room. We arrived around 9:30am and our room was ready. All the rooms are completely renovated now, there is a bit of building exterior painting going on but that was it.

We were placed in room 3224 with a great view of the quiet pool, garden and the Eiffel Tower. Perfect for us as we want to use the quiet pool alot and it is super close by. Not to be a picky witch but this room is like night and day from our AKL CL room. It seems larger, there is an actual desk, amazing comfortable beds and super plush linens. Love the double sinks, I missed that so much! AND a make up mirror YAY!

Wow! All I can say is wow, wow, wow! Okay, now I have to wonder what I need to do to stay there! And I thought I had narrowed down my choices for next summer!

What an absolutely beautiful room and a breathtaking view!

After we got settled a bit we walked over to the F&W for more snacking. The park was deadville, it was perfect!

First stop is France, needed a drink so we shared an ice cold Orangeade...it was great! Better than juice, nice and light and wonderful!

EpcotWed065.jpg

Then over to Louisiana for that yummy Praline Bread Pudding with Bourbon Caramel sauce. OMIGOD this was great! So much nutty flavor and the sauce, wow I could drink this stuff! I wanted to try the escargot again, had it last year and really liked it....it was pretty good, to me they taste like garlic mushrooms.

EpcotWed066.jpg

FranceEsc2.jpg

Over to Ireland where DH wanted to try the cheese plate. I wanted the soup. The soup was awesome, the little cheese straws were so good I wish I had more of those little suckers! DH loved all the cheeses, they were too dry and strong for me. The apple chutney tasted like pot pourri and the bread was dry and crumbly and gross.

EpcotWed067.jpg

EpcotWed068.jpg

Next stop for this Italian chick was ITALY BABE! Look at this basil plant, I wanted to smuggle it out of there!

EpcotWed069.jpg

We shared the sausage pizza and it was very good, nice and thick pizza with spicy little sausage pieces. I wish I ate all of it and didnt share!

EpcotWed070.jpg

DH is on a seafood kick and we wanted the lobster roll, I reminded him that both of us did not like it last year but he wanted it anyways. Well guess what, this year he liked it, go figure...I think he said he liked it to prove me wrong! :rotfl2:

USALobsterRoll.jpg

Over to China for the peach schnapps frozen tea again. My throat has been sore the last few days and the frozen drinks (of the alcohol sort) make me feel better...hey thats my story and I'm sticking to it!

EpcotWed071.jpg

Then it was back to Austria for the Tafelspitz aka brisket and potatoes in a horseradish sauce....DH loves this and I was too busy slurping the tea to notice that he ate it all!

EpcotWed072.jpg

Then it was time to go and chill by the pool and soak in the sun while sitting in the spa. DH asked where dinner was tonight and I said 50's Prime Time for your fried chicken. He said nah lets change that. I did my best Dream of Jenie impression and said Ok master where to? He said that fish place downstairs, I feel like fish. Ok weird because he doesnt eat fish and he had Fultons the other night so what gives? I said no way are we going to get in at this late notice, they are a signature place. Call anyways, humor me he says. Yeah pal, come er', I'll humor you, I'll humor you but good! So I call...and guess what, I got a 6pm ressie. I swear he thinks this ressie think is so easy, can you believe him? :lmao:

Coming up, Flying Fish! But...wheres the fish?

Wow what a great room. Please, please, please let me find a great 40% off code for next year for a room there. :goodvibes

Oh, I can't wait to have one of those Peach Schnapps frozen teas. I've been seeing pics of these and my mouth waters at the sight of one everytime. Only 44 days left to go and I can have one. :yay:

ROFLMAO :lmao:

waiting for your FF review :goodvibes

Wow, that basil plant really puts my little windowsill one to shame!

Those Boardwalk rooms look really pretty. I stayed at the Boardwalk not long after it opened and thought it was absolutely gorgeous. The rooms are much softer now, but still very pretty. I'm surprised AKL didn't have double sinks. We had them at POR.:confused3 My only complaint with BWI was the lack of decent counter service in the hotel when you didn't feel like going out. Can't wait to hear about FF.:goodvibes

After a fantastic day of relaxation we were ready for our dinner at Flying Fish. Just so you know DH is a shellfish kind of guy, me too but I have been dipping my feet into all kinds of food. If it doesnt smell weird I will try it, which is freaking my mom out because as a kid it was 3 things, pasta, pasta and chicken....with pasta.

We arrive right at 5:45, such a great thing being close to your resort! We were seated by the gorgeous bar and open kitchen.

Our server, Martha, was fantasic! DH and I each had an ice tea, planning on boozing it at Epcot later. I was inquiring about the snapper and the scallops. Martha said that the snapper was their signature dish and people rave about it. I really liked the sound of the risotto that came with the scallops and she said you can get the snapper with the risotto....you can change any of the sides around with any of the entrees....ok she sold me, red snapper with a potato crust and risotto with pumpkin, sage and all kinds of other stuff. No app for me tonight as I wanted dessert!

DH orders the tomato salad and get this, my fish loving beau decides to order the NY Strip. OY VEY boy, you said fish and you get steak....driving me nutso!

The place is super loaded, lots of convention people, large families, lots of kids most crying some not, nothing like Jiko but we were still having a great time watching the chefs and the bartenders and just chit chatting with each other.

The bread was brought out, plain butter that needed salt and warm hard sourdough bread that was blah.

EpcotWed007.jpg

DH's salad was awesome, all kinds of tomatoes and really fresh and creamy mozzarella....it was great and enough to share!

EpcotWed008.jpg

My snapper was to die for, I loved it as did DH. It was firm but flaky, out of this world delish and the risotto that went with it, words cannot describe how fantastic it was.....DH loved my dish too and said that Flying Fish is right up there with Jiko and Fulton's, three phenomenal dinners but he will not give me credit for FF because HE picked it!.....like I said men, cant live with em cant shoot em.

EpcotWed009.jpg

DH's char steak was ordered med well but came out med and he ate every single bite of the humongous steak. The crust made the steak and the sauce on the side was super rich and added alot to the steak. The potatoes and asparagus were great as well. I did sneak a few tastes of the steak and although I am a filet girl I will admit this steak was tops!

EpcotWed015.jpg

Since DH has not had a decent cup of coffee in days he ordered a cafe au lait and pronounced it wonderful. We shared a pumpkin cheesecake with a walnut crust and cranberry compote and unsweetened whipped cream. It was very rich and not too sweet, an awesome fall dessert for a Libra like me.

Thanks to Tigerkat for telling me about FF...although DH thinks I knew nothing of this place that he thinks he discovered I knew this was my friend's favorite place and have read many other rave reviews.

So far DH is hooked on signature places, wish I didnt cave and cancel Cali Grill...oh well next trip!
