so Ava and I come home from PlayHouse Disney Live...and DH asks her, Where did you go today?

Her reply...
With a big smile....

Disney World!!!

It was so cute, guess this just works with the 2 yr olds! LOL

Brookelizabeth!!! I will take you to Dinkin DOnuts...I am a hop, skip and a jump from Bolingbrook!!! Thats where I do my Relay for Life walks...and then theres the Promenade..this awesome new shopping area:)
I cannot believe that is your hometown!! lol When I loved in ROmeoville (ages ago, different DH, LOL) I was always in BB!!! Ok, Its a Small World..again!

It IS a small world! Yep, my hometown is Bolingbrook, IL! Born at the Hinsdale Hospital. We lived there until I was in 4th grade, and that is when we headed up to Minnesota. My brother moved back a few years ago, and is finally back in Bolingbrook (after being in a few other towns) and my Dad moved in with him about 6 months ago or so.

My aunt lives in Lombard, and I've got relatives scattered throughout the area. I remember going to Romeoville High School once for something and being SO scared of all the big kids and everything just seemed HUGE. :lmao: Ahh....I miss it down there!

It would be a BLAST to meet up with you for a Bavarian Creme at Dunkin'! I have no idea if time permits yet...family Thanksgiving, then the wedding...it will be busy but a lot of FUN!

Hello!

I have not yet read through this entire thread (is it possible??), but I am a huge fan of AKL!:cool1: Stayed in a savannah room on the zebra trail during our last trip & we were in heaven!:cloud9: I love everything about that resort and can't wait to return.

What does "AKL lite" mean, by the way?

I was just wondering why you guys decided to put this thread on the Community Boards, as opposed to the Resort Boards?

Just curious :)

WELCOME PERLA!
"AKL Lite" is because we all LOVE the AKL, so this thread is about that; however, you'll also find there is a wide variety of things chatted about on this thread. Feel free to chat about anything -kids, sports, hobbies, etc. And of course AKL and WDW! :goodvibes

It's a fantastic group of people 'round here..!

...thanks! :thumbsup2

No problem-I hope they help!!

QueenAlexandraCoronation1902a.jpg

I love your dress. ;)

Now back to AKL/AKV things, I'm less than 3 weeks away from my next AKV trip! This will be the trip when I get to corrupt.. errrr make that introduce to AKV... my niece and nephew! They are 10 & 11 and this will be their first hotel stay. All their previous vacations have been either via RV, including Disney in '06, or at their grandparents vacation house in Canada. My niece, the 10 year old, is all excited about her first hotel stay. We are staying at WL for the first night and then AKV (2 BR) for the next 4 nights. I'm sure that she will be thinking that all hotels are like WL & AKL. Just imagine her first stay at a normal motel. :rolleyes1

I'm at 3 weeks TODAY! No AKL this time (other than breakfast at Boma), but it's still WDW!

Your niece and nephew are gonna be BLOWN AWAY!!!!!!

I look forward to all the pictures and details when you return. :goodvibes

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: So cute!

Diana - I am glad Ava got her WDW fix yesterday! Pretty cheap way to get it. To bad it doesn't work for us! ;)

kimmar -- any luck on getting a room?

A tad off topic but important in my little corner of the world... my daughter has an interview set up for next week already! Keep your fingers crossed, please.

Hello, hello, I'm here. Someone say baseball? I am suffering from cowbell hangover. This will be one of the most boring WS ever...think about it, except for loyal Phillies' fans, who cares? The Rays have like 300 fans, with cowbells, so they can make up the noise level usually afforded the Cubs, Yanks and Red Sox!

Anyone wanna buy a teeshirt?

Spring training is 4 months away. Go Phillies. My fiance's cousin is Jamie Moyer! I just happen to think that Chase Utley is cute and Cole Hamels is a very talented pitcha. Shall I go on as to why I am rooting for an NL team? If I hear one more Rays fan say "We've been waiting 10 years for this," I am going to puke. Okay, I'm done.

Anyway, just catching up. Phew. I have had houseguests for a week. They just left yesterday, and I am parked out. If anyone wants to know anything about wine flights at The Flying Fish, artisanal cheese plates or the Food and Wine Festival (every square inch), let me know...I can assure you, I am extremely well versed (and extremely exhausted...oh, broke too!)

There you are! Missed you....was thinking of you last night:(
Was trying to picture where you were watching.....ESPN....VF??

My favorite wine of F & W was a Pinotage I had at Jiko and M & R Prosecco.....
desktop_01_800prosecco.jpg

We had cheese to at MouseCatch I think..I have to look up who provided it....something "Gourmet"..very good!

Elin....yes, it was a great Disney Fix for Ava...she is so use to characters, she kept grabbing my hand saying, Come on Mommy....She wanted to go down to the stage to the characters!!!:rolleyes1

brookelizabeth A holiday and a wedding...and no time for a donut with me?!!:lmao:
Just kidding, it would make for the cutest photo ever.....no not us and donuts! Ava and Henry:cloud9:

kimmarQueens in "those days" never smiled....looking at that photo..imagine a corset, all the stuff around her neck weighng her down, and that thing on her head...:rotfl2:
So my idea....next time you are at AKL (soon I hope:goodvibes ) go to the Marketplace......get some props etc...a walking stick....hat....all AKL themed..pose for a photo....
So then we will have an authentic "Queen" photo!!

Actually, I couldn't even watch. I kept checking the score from The Fish on Saturday night. My friends, not baseball fans, were laughing at me. They just don't understand! So, I turned to TBS for a split second, just when the Rays hit a homer in the 7th. I muttered an expletive under my breath and turned it to COPS...it was more relaxing!! LOL

By the way, I was thinking of you with your Prosecco habit. I noticed a very interesting phenomenon walking around Epcot. If you were to walk clockwise heading toward Mexico, there is the Italy kiosk selling Prosecco for $3.25. So, we kept walking around, and then we came to the Italy kiosk, near Italy (seriously, does this make any sense?) and it was $5.00. Then we looked at the regular Italy kiosk (the one that's always there that also serves the Bellini). It was $8.00!!! Granted, the Prosecco was a different brand at the $8.00 stop, but still!!! What a ripoff. I don't think that's right. It was the same brand at the $3.25 stop as the Italy stop, and it was $1.75 more! Scam...I guess it pays to shop around, even in Epcot.

So with you on this one BensMom - Tampa needs to add another 0 to that 10 year wait then they will get my sympathies!

OK catching up here.

Your niece and nephew are lucky indeed to have you to show them the ropes, so to speak! :thumbsup2

They will LOVE it! What a great trip for them! :thumbsup2

They are very excited, but I am surprised about how excited I am to take them. I tagged along with my sister, her husband and the kids on their first trip 2 years ago. But that was really their trip and while I gave some advice, I really went with the flow based upon what my sister and brother in law wanted to do. So, I am looking forward to showing them Disney as I see it. Of course we will be condensing into 4+ days what I normally do in 7-10 days :hyper: But that just means that my feet won't be as tired. :rotfl2:

At the time I was my 2 yr old cousin's babysitter, so it worked out great! We drove down there..I can recall being so excited...going to WDW!

We had connecting rooms....and we had a lagoon view, I remember being on the balcony with my cousin. I jsut had to watch him when they went out in the evenings, I think twice....Once was the luau! It was the summer I was going into the 8th grade!
I do remember waiting FOREVER to get on Space Mountain!!!

Years later...I would get married at Sunset Pointe....who knew?! :cloud9:

Wow, that sounds so cool! A trip to Disney for the cost of 2 nights babysitting. That is such an awesome deal!

Wow, we will probably just miss each other. The day you arrive is our last full day. We will be heading home on Veteran's Day.

..oh, ya mean that team that

last night????? :rolleyes1 popcorn::

Yep! That would be the team! The team that made the play-offs! :rotfl2:

We're a little sad here in Red Sox Nation - but hey, we can't be too selfish, we can give someone else a turn to win the World Series. :lmao:

At least we didn't choke in the regular season, like some other teams...wish I could remember their names... :confused3

Hey - I was wondering where you were! :wave2: Yeah, I'd had it with the freakin' cowbells too. Where were all those fans in the regular season? :confused3

Are the sizes any different?! That is nuts!

Food and Wine - what booth has the best deal on the food? What was your favorite bite?

Wow, we will probably just miss each other. The day you arrive is our last full day. We will be heading home on Veteran's Day.

We arrive on the 8th at Pop Century for one night, then onto the WL on the 9th. We are doing Epcot on the 9th (F&W), then AK on the 10th. Any chances you'll be in those parks on either of those days?

At least we didn't choke in the regular season, like some other teams...wish I could remember their names... :confused3

Or worse yet, tease the fans and choke BAD in the playoffs like some other team...wish I could forget their name .... . .

I think that are park schedules are slightly different. We will be doing DHS on the 8th with maybe MK that evening. Then AK and MK on the 9th. Finally we will be doing Epcot on the 10th.

By the time I had to pay for parking..:scared1: I am a non cash carrying kind of gal, ATM or KTTW card...:rotfl2: and the souvenirs they have to tease the kids and manipulate the parents with......lol It was a great fix!!!

Fingers crossed:flower3:
