I got a message when I logged into SmallWorlds today..

"SmallWorlds will be taken offline Monday 21th October @ 2pm PDT
The site could be down for up to 8 hours while we upgrade to the next beta release."

SmallWorlds is scheduled to close in less than 15 minutes, there's a thread in the Forums here. It's Monday the 20th though.. haha

Ugh I was really looking forward to playing today! UGH! When I got home it was... gone. Lol, but I hope we get to keep our stuff, otherwise I'll be soo freakin mad!

Oh wow. Guess I have to wait until tomorrow to go to Spacies @_@

Must be a big upgrade, the last time they did a new release it was a 4 hour outage

Smallworlds is finally back, woot! Looks like they have added some cool stuff, and when you get a chance, stop by Island Bar and Mission! LOL, just had to add that!

ADDED 20 MINUTES LATER: I'm really not liking the new Smallworlds. Stuff costs way more now, food that used to be 3 tokens costs 50! And a popular mission only gives out 20 tokens. AND each mission you CAN ONLY PLAY ONCE A WEEK! I dont know about this...

VIP monthly membership AND an item shop? Sounds a lot like subscriptions/crowns, huh?

:sad2:

I think the mission once a week thing is a bug, I ran into Tony Fendal in there and he doesnt think thats correct.

Also, it looks like the missions were reset with the new build, which is why it is paying so low

Thanks for posting the info. I have been having issues and can not log in to SW since the most recent build.

Just learned my log in issue is related to hotmail accounts.

OMG the prices aren't funny :( My level 50 things are 27k!!!! I would think People are gonna start leaving

So.... was this THE major reset? Did we all lose our stuff?

Well, no. We still have all our stuff, but prices on everything have gone up. You now see food that costed 3 tokens now costs 50, and rooms costs more to buy.

Yes but they gave us 10 times the tokens we had, so the prices aren't as whacked as you think

They announced on their forums that when the reset happens nobody will lose their stuff by the way. To lazy to go get the link :rotfl:

They are cutting us back to level 20 but you keep your rooms and items

Changes to the Economy

In preparation for our upcoming launch in a few weeks time, SmallWorlds has undergone some major changes to its economy. During the beta we had intentionally made items cheaper and experience levels easier to achieve, to enable us to fully test the various aspects and features of SmallWorlds. We are now in the final stage of our beta test, and so have rebalanced aspects of the economy to the levels they will be at launch.

The changes include:

Token Revaluation: We have revalued tokens by a factor of 10 to give us more granularity in item pricing item. You may have noticed that any tokens in your account have been multiplied 10-fold.

Item Re-Pricing: Items have been re-priced to reflect their true value in SmallWorlds. Furnishings have increased in value, as have wearable items. High level wearable items are exclusive and difficult to attain, which is now reflected in their pricing. The prices also reflect the 10-to-1 Token revaluation mentioned above.

Gold: At launch, various items and spaces will be purchaseable with Gold. In preparation for this we have turned on the ability to purchase with Gold so we can test this method during this final phase. At launch, you will be able to purchase Gold via a number of methods (including Credit Card and PayPal). One Gold will be the equivalent of 10 Tokens, and some things in SmallWorlds will only be purchaseable with Gold (not Tokens).

VIP Club Membership: At launch, for a small monthly fee, players will be able to join the SmallWorlds VIP Club. Some avatar options and in-world items will be VIP only, as will various features of SmallWorlds. You will notice that some of these options are now flagged as VIP-Only. For now, you can still use these options and enter SmallWorlds. However, at launch, these options will be restricted to VIP Club Members only.

As we get closer to launch we will release more specific information about purchasing Gold and VIP Club Membership.

World Reset… Not!

In our terms of use, we reserved the right to reset the world at launch. However, after much consideration of the impact on our existing players, we will no longer completely reset the world at launch. This will mean that you will all be able to keep your spaces, items and tokens earned during the beta phase! The only thing we currently plan to reset are the player experience levels, as these were way too easy to gain during beta. These will be capped at level 20 at launch.

In addition to the above, we also plan to do the following for our beta users:
A beta-only item (collectible/rare).
A “Founding Citizen” tag.
A special 50% discount on VIP Club Membership.

Ned:
Your friends ;) may want to change to another email like Yahoo or Gmail to get them back in business. Once they establish a new a mail account, click the change email link, instead of resend verification.

Oh btw, sorry to say this but...

The once a week thing is not a bug. I just saw Tony again tonight, and he just wasn't aware of the change as of yesterday.

This is the way it is working now >_<

You can only do a mission once a week
