We got ourselves up early so we could enjoy our last few hours at Epcot. They were having EMH hours, so made sure we could squeeze in as much as we could.
We parked at the Boardwalk and decided to take a boat to the International Gateway. Remember, this was Tyson's birthday trip. Even though it would've been faster to walk, he really wanted to ride the boat... We made it so.
Here are Matt and Ty waiting for the water taxi:
We rode all of our favorites again, including this one:
Matt and I took some time to notice the speakers hidden in the foliage:
Why? You ask? We are in the process of getting our backyard in shape. When we built our house, we acquired a weed, root, poison oak and bush-infested back yard... we called it "the woods" After 3 years, we finally decided to clean it out and put grass in, making our yard huge! Well, huge by suburban Indianapolis standards! Anyway, we are going to build a new deck and landscape the backyard next spring and we have dreams of putting hidden speakers throughout the yard, and piping in Disney theme park music. Oh YEAH!! Wouldn't that be great?!
One final stop before our ADRs at Coral Reef:
Ty had fun trying out the flavors:
Here Buddy:
Try THIS one.....
Needless to say, he didn't quite enjoy the Beverly. I mean.. who does??!
We slowly made our way to Coral Reef, knowing it was going to be the last thing we'd do on our little vacation. Our reservation was quite early, so we were let in right away. I was VERY pleased to see that Tyson's birthday menu was here.. and PERFECT!! (unlike the anniversary edition.. if you care to read about it, click on the POR 2008 link in my signature).
Here's a shot of my happy boy with his cool menu:
And a close up:
We had not been very good about taking food shots this trip, so Ty decided to take a few. Here is his pizza... with a garnish that he took off of my plate, to make his look 'fancier'
And here he is making his fancy creation:
A shot of me, courtesy of Ty.. thanks so much....
And one of Matt.. eating his steak like a REAL MAN!!
Now.. at this point, Tyson realizes that the fun is almost over. Matt and I were still anticipating the diver surprise, but Tyson was slowly losing it. Tears would well up in his eyes often, but he never really cried... yet...
Here is the dessert they brought out for him:
And here's a shot of Crush that Ty got... not too bad for an 8-year-old!
FINALLY, the divers came. Tyson really enjoyed it, but couldn't really express it, because he was too overwhelmed with his thoughts of departure. Next time, when planning a surprise, I will NOT be doing it on the day we leave!! Bad timing... really bad timing..
Seeing the divers:
His Birthday Sign:
Birthday boy attempting to enjoy his dessert, when all he wanted to do was cry in it:
We hustled out of the Coral Reef. Tyson reassured us that he loved his surprise, but was just so sad that the trip was over. The skies were NOT looking very friendly, and we had a LONG walk back to the BW to get the car. Unfortunately, we weren't able to stroll along and soak up every last second. No. We were speed walking like nobody's business.. just praying the rain would hold off.
Matt has started calling threatening-looking clouds "AUNTIE EM". So when we see one in the distance we say "Uh oh.. we got some Auntie Em comin' this way". Kinda funny.. but Auntie Em held off. We were able to make it through here
and all the way back to the car without a drop. Then....
WHOOOOOOSH... the rain came a pourin'.... MONSOON pourin'.... It was the heaviest down pour I have ever seen. And to top it off... Tyson started pourin' too.
Now.. for those of you with a weak stomach, or an overly-sensitive heart... you might not want to click on the video clip below. It is heart-wrenching, I tell ya. But in a way... kind of funny...
I don't know... it just kind of brings to life what we all feel in our hearts when we are forced to leave the place we love most. Check it it out if you dare.
BTW... Tyson gave me permission to put this on the board. He thought you all would enjoy seeing his emotions.
I'm a horrible mom, aren't I?
Basically, we drove in the pouring rain and pouring tears all the way to CBR, where Matt was staying that night. He was catching a flight the next morning to join back up with Carolina Crown. It continued to pour all the way out of WDW and four several hours on the highway.. both from the sky and Tyson's eyes. It was the longest ride to Atlanta ever. According to Matt, it never really stopped raining that night either. He was hoping to do some solo time at MK.. but never really got to enjoy it. Spent the whole time hanging out in gift shops to avoid the monsoons!!
Well folks.. that concludes our Surprise Trip Trip Report. Thanks so much for hanging out with me! I'm going to post a link to a separate thread so I can do a quick picture walk of our latest Quickie Getaway.. so come back soon!!
Over and outta here!!!
