Episode One: Just Like Magnets, Opposites Do Attract!!

Nope, you didn't misread the title. My husband actually dared to break the cardinal rule of marriage and will be away hunting during MY birthday and MY anniversary (I'll explain what that means in the next episode). I decided to launch this PTR while my hubby is off on another hunting trip. I have just dropped him off at the airport and now have a week to myself. I figured there wasn’t a better time than now to start writing. So, before I begin to tell you all about my saga, a.k.a “the drama” as I will refer to it, I need to introduce you to the cast.

Hi, I'm Jen!! I'm a 26-year-old wife, mother of two cats (no children, yet!), a high school biology teacher, and a youth sponsor at my church. It is safe to say that I love to work with children. I think that is because I'm still such a child at heart. Oh yeah, I'm also a Disney Nut (and yes, that is the technical term). I honestly believe I suffer from Disney OCD. You should see my binder! Oh wait, you will. I'm actually going to have an episode about my binder. LOL! I have been to Disney World three times, so this will be my fourth trip back. To say I love Disney is an understatement. I own Disney t-shirts, almost all of the Disney DVD's (and I have them alphabetized), the Disney Classics CD plays continuously in my car, and I truly believe I own every Disney trivia game ever created. I'm also one of those teachers (you know which ones I mean, the ones you gave funny titles in high school). At my school we have the Pirate teacher, the Frog Teacher, the Fishing teacher, and I am affectionately known as the Disney Teacher. The questions I must ask though…is it a bad thing that I'm very proud of my title and thoroughly embrace it?

This me, Jen!

Time to meet my co-star, the love of my life, my husband Phil. I must say it amuses me that on the DIS boards we refer to our hubbies at DHs. Well, mine is the ADH of the DIS boards. That stands for the anti-Disney husband. Okay, that might be a bit harsh. He'll have to settle for NDH, non-Disney hubby! Bless this man; he just doesn't get the pixie dust. Disney is just not his thing and he has tried it. He went with me on my last trip to Disney, and it was probably his final time. It is safe to say that our kids will be having mom and kid time at Disney. LOL! My husband is as outdoorsy as it gets. He loves college football and hockey. He is the ultimate hunter and fisher. When I decided it was time to watch my 2008 Disney Vacation DVD, he went to the other room and re-watched the Red Wings win the Stanley cup.

This is my hubby!

With respect to Disney, this is one true case of opposites attracting.

Well, thank you for taking out time to be a part of episode one!

YEAH...............I am here too!!! When are the birthday and anniversary???????????????

October 2nd is the Birthday and October 3rd is the Anniversary..but more on that in the next episode LOL!!

First of all I must give a huge thanks to my proofreader Trixie!! I wouldn't be doing this without her because I would be horribly ashamed of my errors, but thanks to her you are getting a peek into my brain (It's yet to be determined if that's a good thing or a bad LOL)!

Well without further ado...Episode 2:

Episode Two: The Tale of Two Anniversaries.

Welcome to Episode Two of “How to Avoid a Divorce!”

I promise that I’m getting to the Disney portion of this PTR soon, but the background information in the first 3 episodes is important to the story! Thanks for your patience! I also promise to add some pictures to this when I get home from school and have access to my scanner!

Two anniversaries? Yes, my husband and I celebrate two anniversaries. When I first met my husband he was a PFC in the United States Army. After dating for about 8 months he proposed to me at the beginning of June. I of course said yes and we planned for a yearlong engagement. Then the Army decided to have its say. Less than two weeks after we got engaged my fiancé got orders to Alaska. BAM!! All of the sudden, a 12 month engagement had to be shortened to a two month engagement. Imagine telling your mother and future mother-in-law that you only have two months to plan a wedding!! CHAOS!!

After much debate over dates that would work for both families, we decided that Phillip and I would sign the marriage license before the August 30th deadline to get me on the orders and then have the wedding on October 3rd. So, on August 20th I stood in my then fiancé’s chaplain's office wearing jeans and a yes, I kid you not, a Mickey t-shirt. He was in his BDU's. Our witnesses were two chaplain assistants, one who had just dropped by to bring in a box of Pledge! 10 minutes later, with a signed marriage license, I was Mrs. PFC Phil. Needless to say it wasn't overly romantic or dramatic. I can't even remember if we kissed or not! LOL! To this day August 20th is considered my hubby's anniversary. That day is HIS day. We do whatever he wants, he gets his anniversary gift, and we go to his favorite restaurant for dinner. It works for us, a special day devoted to him.

Then comes October 3rd. This was our wedding day. We had a beautiful ceremony with family and friends that took place in the most beautiful stone chapel. It was my dream wedding. I had just turned 20 the day before (Oct 2nd is my birthday) and I was getting the best present ever! I was getting married (for the second time, LOL) to my Prince Phillip. I love Sleeping Beauty for that reason alone. So October 3rd is considered my anniversary. This day is MY day. We do whatever I want, I get my gift, and we go to my favorite restaurant for dinner. Here is a picture of us on our wedding day:

My husband jokes around that he prefers that my birthday and my anniversary are close together. He says that this way he can't forget them, and if he does he's in major, major trouble. I don't ever let him forget! LOL! He also obeys the one rule I have, that my birthday and anniversary are two separate occasions with two gifts…unless it’s a bigger gift like this year, for example. You will learn more about my gift next time.

Next Episode: "You're Going To Do What??? WHEN????"

Can't wait for the pictures! Hurry, hurry!

Well if you have the answer for making time go by a whole lot faster LOL!! I need to get onto the picture thing ASAP I know!!!

Thanks to all of you who have come over to read!! The encouragement is amazing!!
