Mods & Homies:
Please try to keep this thread as the OFFICIAL thread for HHN reviews. It will make for less clutter.

That being Established, I will now post my HHN Review for 9/24--preview night. It's as spoiler free as possible.

Cast: myself--HHN Veteran, Laura--HHN virgin: both 27.

Arrival: 6pm. We grabbed a quick bite at Pastamore Express, then headed to the entrance to USF.

Pics from the entrance:

Just before 7:30, they opened the gates. Plenty of fog, no scareactors or houses open until 7:45 or 8pm. We ended up going to Bill & Ted first--7:45p show.

Pics on the way to B&T:

Bill & Ted show review.
It's the staple show, but has had some years where it was weak and some where it was strong. This year was strong. The ending was horribly weak, but it did have a beginning, middle, raise of stakes, and end. Good show overall, very funny.
Final Rating: 8/10

Haunted Houses: Due to time constraints, we were only able to see 6 of 8 houses. I did not see Creatures or The Hallow. I heard Creatures is very good. I have not heard anything about The Hallow.

First House: Bloody Mary (Reflection of Fear). Or not. 45 min wait. We'd return to this one later.

Real First House: Doomsday.
Very weird house, good setup. The very last scene was the coolest, IMO, and it wasn't scary, just awesome.
Final Rating: 7/10. 6/10 if not for the end scene.

Next House: Body Collectors.
Laura wanted to see that one the most. As is expected, it was GORY. That's all I'm going to say about it.
Final Rating: 8/10

As we exited the house, there was a jello shot girl. But wait....these were THE BLOOD BAGS! Behold, the blood bag:

PM me if you want spoilers as to what it actually is. But it was tasty.

Next house: Interstellar Terror.
Standard Fare alien/sci-fi house. Some very cool effects.
Final Rating: 7/10

Backtrack time! All the way to Reflections of Fear.
Good house, but too short. Some awesome scenes, but just too short.
Final Rating: 6.5-7/10 Would have scored higher if longer.

Next house: Dead Exposure
ZOMBIES!!!!!! This house was surprisingly awesome. Lots of blacklight effects and some good scares.
Final Rating: 9/10

Final House: Scary Tale
As has been in years past, Scary Tales is always a hit. This year, it was a hit. Look closely, as some things may not register at first, but they are there. And awesome.
Final Rating: 10/10. Best house of the year, IMO.

Final Thoughts: MUCH better than last year's HHN. I'd definitely go back a few more times, even if just to see Creatures & The Hallow. I'd absolutely go through Scary Tales and Dead Exposure again.

i read the reviews on csw.
some of yours match theirs.

thanks for the review and pics!

I went last night w/ an employee. We waited in line 30 min for body collectors then right when we got close to the front, the house was closed. They wouldn't let us go back the way we came in, instead we had to take a hike around the back of universal w/ no lighting. Anyway, that took awhile. I liked the Path of the Wicked scare zone..not scary but just cool to see. I saw the bill and teds show. I liked it better then last year although I didn't see most of the movies that were referenced. I made it to Scary Tales, The Hallow, Interstellar Terror, and Creatures b/c those lines were short. Longest I waited was 20 min which was nice. The que through Twister had no light and the ground is a little uneven and I almost tripped. I liked the ones I went on..My fav last year was the clown house but I didnt' see anything else like it this year..maybe one of the others i didnt go on..

love the Review!!!
i would love to go this year but sadly must wait until OCT 2009
the Blood bags are cool :thumbsup2

Great pixs Dm.:thumbsup2 Looks like it was packed!!

You say it is better overall then last year. Then I'm going to love it even more!!!!

Not much in those blood bags :scratchin Whats in them..Ah I'll waite!!

Nice, can't wait for the opening week so we can start to make a strategy for visiting the houses. It will be good to see which ones they let people in first so we know where to stand. Since we won't have Express passes we have to make every step count :thumbsup2

how much are they charging for the blood bags

i leave saturday for orlando --- oct 4-5 cant get here soon enough i am so excited

It looks like this year is going to be a good one. :thumbsup2
I can't wait to go, but I have to wait until Oct. 29th, but hey, at least I'm going. :) :hourglass :cat:

9th year in a row for me and DD at HHN's :)

Thanks for the review and pictures! We are going tonight and are so excited. I'm glad to hear Scary Tales does not disappoint, that is always my favorite house. I'm intrigued to try the blood bag!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the reviews and the pics. I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am planning on attenting HHN for the first time this year... I am going to go the same day I attend Universal... DO they do what Disney does?? DO they close the park early, then make you come back in at a certain time with your HHN ticket??

Yes but Universal is more thorough in sweeping the park than Disney. The MK closes and reopens almost at the same time so you have day people who are slow to leave whereas Universal closes at 5pm and doesn't reopen until 6:30pm. They sweep the park and make sure the day people leave.

Ahh they reopen at 6:30.. Cool... I was planning on leaving Universal at 4:00, heading to City Walk to get something to eat, then re-entering with HHN ticket... I'm sure that is plenty of time... Even if I am back in the park at 7:00... Thanks for the information...
