Columbus Weekend HHN

I have been reading lots of info and am getting so confused. We have preferred annual passes and will be going to Universal Oct 10 -13. So, what I am trying to figure out is two things. Are the ticket prices for HHN $29.99 for any night as an APH? It would be easier for us to all go on Friday, but could also do Sunday that weekend. Are the crowds really less on the Sunday considering that Monday is a holiday and the ticket price would be less money to those that don't have annual passes? Trying to figure out if I should just stick with Sunday if the crowds are a lot less. Thanks to anyone that can help.

i cant help with the ticket costs - but we were there the sunday before columbus day last year and it was crowded - the waits were appx 2 hours for each house - we were only able to get 3 in - we did not do S&S and had to wait appx 30 minutes for the people we were meeting to get to us

APH rate is $29.99 for Fri 10/10 or Sat 10/11. If one member of your party has an AP, that AP holder can buy up to 6 tickets on one AP. Yes, the waits will be long. Probably the worst on Saturday, but they will be bad on Friday and Sunday as well since Monday is a holiday.

Do stay and scream to get a head start on the houses. And, look into express passes.

::yes::

For the record, Columbus Day isn't much of a holiday down here--Orange County schools are not off, nor do I know of any in the area that are.

Doesn't matter, tho, because every night of HHN gets packed eventually. I remember two or three years ago I went on a Sunday night with a tropical depression passing over--pouring down rain, wind--and Body Collectors still had a 2.5 hour wait.

Sure this starts to sound like a broken record, but any night, do stay and scream, buy express pass if you can swing it...

I have to work on Columbus Day and I remember that night in 2005 when Wilma passed over the area. I was probably waiting in that 2.5 hour line...but it was worth it.

Columbus Day may not be a big deal to FL residents, but many people have off from all over the country and use it as an excuse to go FL for a long weekend. I'm one of them. I think any time there is a holiday weekend out-of-staters descend upon FL.

I've checked in each state I've lived in over the years and it isn't a big deal in any of them. If it's a long weekend in Canada or Wisconson or Idaho that's also a nonissue because there isn't enough time to drive down and there aren't enough people willing to fly down for a weekend to make a significant impact. But we'll be there Oct. 12 so we'll all find out in a few short weeks.

we are already planning a columbus day weekend trip for 2010 - i live in pa - we are planning on flying out when the kids get out of school and flying home columbus day -- my daughter started high school this year and i am already catching slack for taking her out for 7 days so this will be the last "real" trip during the school year - in 2010 she will be a jr and my best friends son will be a senior so we are just heading down for the weekend to get our HHN fix also since it will be the 20th birthday figure it will be a good one

Sounds like a good time! :thumbsup2

Thanks for all the info. Good to know that Columbus day is not as big as a deal in the South. Never understood why that man got his own holiday anyways, but I digress...

I may be wrong, but I believe that this is the weekend at HHN called h -e - double hockey sticks week!! We were originally planning on going that weekend, but almost all the hotels (especially Universals) were completely sold out. If it were me, and we had to go THAT weekend, I would definately do the stay and scream, and purchase the express passes. Otherwise you could be stuck in horrible lines all night!!

nope, this isn't hell week for the parks.
that should begin later/mid month.

schools are out for some weekdays in october which is when high schoolers hit the parks.

the ap holders are getting a great deal this year.
for the first 3 weekends, the prices are cheaper for the peak nights.

that will bring in the crowds..........:rolleyes1

it's the 17th and 18th everything is booked up solid. We couldnt get our beloved HRH that weekend.

Thankfully RPR was available!
