Lovin' your report! :thumbsup2

We went to WDW for our honeymoon 17 years ago, but that was back in the day before free dining.

Many a meal was a Mickey bar. LOL

(What can I say, we were poor. His parents paid for our off site hotel and tickets. We paid for gas and food. Oy.)

Love the dual reports. My dh isn't that interested in reporting on food, just eating it. LOL

Looking forward to the rest! :wizard:

Congratulations..you two look like you are having a great time.
Love the reviews:rotfl2:
, but my fav. bit is when you say that Daniel could have looked at the menus too.
I thought my DH was the only one who wanted nothing to do with planning...until we get there!!

I've been wanting to try Flame Tree BBQ next week, think I'll stick to Pizzafari! They have a yummy sandwich there!

Pizzafari is delicious! That review will be coming up soon!

We couldn't have afforded to go without free dining and staying at a value resort. Ahhhh, to be young and poor. ;)

You two crack me up - your DH sounds just like mine :rotfl:

:rotfl2:

I was starting to think it was just us, we didn't like Flame tree at all.

You're not alone, we totally agree with you!

I may make Daniel plan and make all ADRs when we go next year (anniversary trip, and hopefully with free dining!), but then again we'd probably eat at Tutto everyday, so I may rethink that a bit.

Excellent reviews so far-- love the double review!

I know how you feel about being the one who makes the ADRs, checking the menus, etc... Luckily tho my DBF will eat most anything so we didn't need to change. Plus I tell him one item on the menu I'll think he'll like...just to make sure he'll find something.

Also about the exlax...that would be the joy of a bechamel sauce: butter and flour made into a rouix and then lots and lots of cream = not happy tummy.

I too am a friend of the calorie free drinking---except for alcohol ;) However hate to burst your bubble, but the cherry and vanilla syrups at Sci Fi and 50's PTC are most definitely not sugar free, and thus calorie free. But hey you're on vacation. Don't sweat the small stuff! :flower3: Plus if you gain that weight that quickly, you'd most likely lose it that quickly as well when you go back to your normal way of life.

Can't wait for more! :surfweb:

It's funny you mention the vanilla and cherry flavorings- everytime I'd order the diet coke with them the waitress would say, "They're not sugar free."

I'd always laugh, "I know but diet coke over and over can get boring!"

After we ate at Flame Tree we stuck around the AK to do some more rides, but eventually I thought about something interesting...

We've been to every park BUT the Magic Kingdom!! ::MickeyMo

We rush out of the park and onto a bus to the TTC and then a monorail to the MK.

YAY!! Now I feel like I am at Disney World.

At about 8 p.m. my MK high wears down and I am starving!

We're by Splash Mountain, and I have read about the fixin's bar at Pecos Bill so we head that way.

The menu is pretty basic, but a burger sure sounds good to the both of us.

I order the 1/4-Pound Cheeseburger - served with your choice of fries or apple slices $6.09

Daniel orders the Bacon Double Cheeseburger - served with your choice of french fries or apple slices $7.59

We're both pigs and order fries. We're on vacation...but with a diet coke. Let's not get too crazy alright?

I go cheese happy at the fixins bar. Who needs ketchup when you have free cheese?! :yay:

Oh, I forgot...we did order dessert too, of course.

I ordered the carrot cake that was on the menu, and I got this:

iPhoneDisney127.jpg

Is it carrot cake gone bad? Nope, it's chocolate cake. Apparently they ran out of carrot cake, so that's what they gave me.

The burger, to me, was good. Not the best I have ever had, but it's a fast food burger. We have another burger later in the week that tops Pecos Bill though, can't say from where just yet... I love the fries though! They're fresh, crispy, and I can put CHEESE on them! The fixins bar makes me a happy camper, and the dining room is clean and nice. It was kind of dim and dark in there, and there were soooo many tables that it wasn't crowded. My chocolate cake was pretty good. The frosting was too thick and rich for my taste, so I just scraped it off for the most part. Moist cake!

Daniel says the burger was pretty good. The bacon was crispy and thick, not half cooked and film like the way bacon can be sometimes on fast food. The fixins bar made it very nice, and he liked being able to control the amount of toppings on his burger. He loves lots of tomato and pickles, but little lettuce. For dessert he got the strawberry yogurt, which was light Yoplait yogurt. No pic of that, you all know what it looks like.

And here's an added review: A group of girls sat next to us and they ordered the taco salad and they were complaining about how terrible it was. It looked pretty bad, but I didn't taste it. That'd be awkward... I'd imagine it'd go something like this:

Me: "Can I taste your taco salad?"

Girl: "Um, do I know you?"

Me: "It would greatly benefit the DIS boards if you'd let me."

Girl: <picks up tray of food and moves>

But anyway, just thought I'd mention the taco salad comments we heard.

The conversation you had at WPE about ADRs was exactly like the one I had with DH back in April when we were there for 8 days. He wanted nothing to do with the planning but once we get there he tries to mess everything up!

Now I have him trained....he is to sit down with me and go over the menus throroughly and give me his imput not just tune me out and say whatever you want is fine....because yes that is easier for me upfront but it bites me in the butt 6 months later when we are on our trip! :rotfl2:

LOve the review OP! I'm so debating Sci Fi but that's like the only place in DHS that people say is good!

My DH does not care where he eats. He will eat ANYTHING. LOL I'm not lying people. And rarely if ever complains. Even if he doesn't like something he will finish it off and then I ask how was it and he will say "Eh it wasn't all that."

I have a GF whose DH is the pickiest man EVER! Seriously he is worst than her toddler! I don't know how she deals with him. He eats like 4 different things and that is ALL.

Your hubby sounds like mine! I've tried and tried to get him to look at menus and all I hear is "I'll find something wherever we go. I'll eat anything." And he means it too! He very rarely complains about food - it would have to be downright horrible for him to make a fuss at all. I guess that's a good thing, but on the flip side he doesn't get excited over food like I do either! LOL!

To him, food is just a necessity, nothing to get too worked up over. For me, food is a dream come true . . . good food anyway!

Yes!!! Yes!! Yes!!! LOL

I just told him I'm having fun planning and he said good. Then I asked him if he wanted to know about the restaurants and he said "Nope...don't bother me with that...you make the reservations and I'll show up and eat." :rotfl2:

Now I will say the first time we went we didn't know about character meals. Last time I booked CP, Tusker House and Garden Grill. He wasn't too pleased with spending the money. :headache: But then got excited since Pooh is his favorite ever. CP was our first because I knew I had to ease him in. Then he wasn't pleased with a BF ADR at Tusker house. But ate almost 4 plates!!!!!!!! :scared1: DH and DS are NOT morning people. For the parks yes... but rushing off for an AM ADR not so much. He prefers dinner ADR's so I booked almost all of them for dinner.

I do wish he was more excited but he doesn't get excited until we get there.

Now wiht this review...to do Sci Fi or not. :confused3
