I'm headed for Pop in a few days! Yay! I was out of town for the last 10 days or so, but now I can really "get my Dis on" for this trip! Can't wait! Here's hoping for good weather and an Epcot view room in Building 4!

ok,,,, so in about 80 hrs i will be at POP  ... I recentaly had my ACL replaced.... I have asked for something in 5 or 6 first floor closest to the hall as possible.. Can you call ahead and see what room you are in or wait till you get there? I am just worried with all the walking... I can't afford an EVC... aslo does POP have wheel chairs?:cool1:

You do not have to worry!! WDW Resorts have a special needs department. Sent you a pm. :)
Have a wonderful trip!!

We saw cute towels. They are white and have half of Mickey's head "peeking"
out bear the bottom. We only saw them in DHS in a shop on the street that takes you to TOT. It was half down on the right side. As for other accesories, I wasn't looking since we have some from about 8 years ago. I also bought the blue Mickey shower curtain from disneyshopping. Consider ebay too. Hope this helps!

Has anybody done a fax room request lately? If so, were you granted your request? I already put in my request on my ressie but I'm planning to also fax it in as well - nothing too major, just a quiet lakeside room, top floor.

Also, can anyone confirm their fax number? The one listed in the first post is different than the one listed on allears (407-938-4040).

I used the fax # from the first post. I went as far to request a block of rooms (only needed 1). I asked for Illuminations view, building 2, any room b/t 2450-2460 and were assigned 2458. We faxed ours 1 week before our arrival and directed it to the room assigner.

I did it in March. I used the number from the first post here. I got exactly what I asked for.

I faxed my room requests on Wednesday, so here's hoping!

Also, for our last trip, I couldn't get the 4040 or 4039 fax numbers to work, so I called Pop and asked if there was any other number to fax to. I was given two more: 4007 and 5696. Apparently, one of them worked because we did have our requests met. (Or I guess they could have just gone off of the request notes on our reservation.) When I faxed my requests this Wednesday, I had no problems with the 4040 and 4039, so maybe it was just a one time problem. I still sent my fax to all four numbers. IMO, you can never emphasize your requests too much!

Just back from a wonderful stay at Pop solo...if anyone has any questions feel free to ask!

We stayed in 70's last year and loved it, but want to do the 50's this year. Here are a couple of questions we have:

- Do you have to have a lake view (building 2 or 3) to see fireworks? What about a 4th floor in building 1 non-lake view?
- We will be renting a car. Is there a certain building that is closer to the parking lot?

In general we want to request a location that is not too far away from parking lot and not too far from Classic Hall, but might still be able to see fireworks.

I heard a rumor that they might open up family suites at this resort. Any truth to it?:confused3

Oh wow, thanks!!!! I was hoping they would be open by April 2009. Guess not, huh?

I just wanted to say how much I love this thread, and thanks to Buckeye Gal for collecting post #1. :goodvibes

We check in Monday 9/8.
When should I fax my room request?
When should I order my water from COSTCO? :confused3
:thanks:

Hopefully this will help you a bit!

If you plan to view the fireworks from Illuminations (the best ones you can see from POP), this should help you a bit in seeing what rooms and building locations have a decent view:

(Please note: This is my best estimation - if anyone has any specific knowledge about good viewing spots please PM me and I will update this map. Thanks!)

The "boxed" areas are the areas that should give you a view of Illuminations (every night at 9pm). Obviously you don't have to necessarily be in a room in that specific location to see them - you can walk around to a corner of the building somewhere or up to the 4th floor to get a better view. It's fairly easy to walk to the end of the "hall" or take the elevator up to the 4th floor and get a good view.

I've labelled the building numbers as well. I'm not 100% positive about that little square at the very end of building 1... you may or may not have a view from there, perhaps someone can confirm that.

I don't think you'll get a very good view from any other buildings, but you may be able to see some of the fireworks. I've basically highlighted what I think should be your best viewing spots.

I do believe you can see Wishes as well, although MK is much much further away than Epcot - 1 mile away vs. 5 miles away. The locations for veiwing Wishes should be very similar as Illuminations, as MK is almost in the same direction as Epcot. The only iffy spot might be that little tiny square at the end of building #1.

Watching from POP isn't as fun as being there in person, but it's still fun to see the fireworks anyway :teeth:

You can also see some of the fireworks from Fantasmic (which is off towards the left of the picture above), but there just isn't as much as there as at Epcot and MK.

Check out post #1 for a general map of POP. You can see where the parking lots are, and what buildings are closest to the parking lots. In the 50s section, buildings 1 and 2 (as you can see on the image I posted) are the closest to the parking lot. There's also a parking lot just off the top of that image which is good if you're in building #2. Your best bet for being close to the parking lot and having a "fireworks view" room is probably Building #2, however it's also the furthest from Classic Hall (although I didn't find it to be all that long of a walk, really - and we were in the absolute furthest north part of building 2 last time).

If there's one thing I've learned after lurking here for a bit, it's that EVERYTHING is in post #1 :rotfl:

Special requests

it’s suggested to have your requests (no guarantee given) added as notations to your reservation ASAP (call 407-WDISNEY)

in addition to having your special request(s) on your reservation, many guests have also faxed their requests directly to Pop Century 4-6 days prior to arrival; it's rumored that room assignments are made 3 days prior to arrival

on the fax cover letter, make it simple and concise; "I'm requesting the following:" followed by bullet points of what you desire
include your name, reservation number, date of arrival, and length of stay

As for Costco water, I believe that the front desk will hold on to packages for you for at least a week before your arrival, so you should place your order 7 days before you get there, which should give sufficient time for the water to arrive. If it's just before a weekend, then you could probably place your order 8 days or so ahead. Then just claim your package from the front desk. Seeing as you're checking in on the 8th, and the 1st is Labor Day (so no postal stuff), I'd say your best bet would be to go ahead and order this weekend. By the time they ship it out and it gets there, it should be mid-to-late in the week, and it will be hopefully be waiting for you when you get there on Monday. Just make sure you put your name and the dates of your stay in the shipping info so POP knows what to do with the box and who to hold it for ;)

Wow...nice map! :thumbsup2
Thanks! :thumbsup2

Just back from a wonderful stay at Pop solo...if anyone has any questions feel free to ask!

I was there 2 ngts alone due to Tropical Storm Fay...first time alone and was amazed how much I enjoyed myself. Just wandered around the resort, visited other resorts etc.

How long did you stay and where was your room location? Were you comfortable eating alone doing attractions alone etc? Thanks!

Glad you had a wonderful stay at POP!
