We stayed in 70's last year and loved it, but want to do the 50's this year. Here are a couple of questions we have:
- Do you have to have a lake view (building 2 or 3) to see fireworks? What about a 4th floor in building 1 non-lake view?
Hopefully this will help you a bit!
If you plan to view the fireworks from Illuminations (the best ones you can see from POP), this should help you a bit in seeing what rooms and building locations have a decent view:
(
Please note: This is my best estimation - if anyone has any specific knowledge about good viewing spots please PM me and I will update this map. Thanks!)
The "boxed" areas are the areas that should give you a view of Illuminations (every night at 9pm). Obviously you don't have to necessarily be in a room in that specific location to see them - you can walk around to a corner of the building somewhere or up to the 4th floor to get a better view. It's fairly easy to walk to the end of the "hall" or take the elevator up to the 4th floor and get a good view.
I've labelled the building numbers as well. I'm not 100% positive about that little square at the very end of building 1... you may or may not have a view from there, perhaps someone can confirm that.
I don't think you'll get a very good view from any other buildings, but you may be able to see
some of the fireworks. I've basically highlighted what I think should be your best viewing spots.
I do believe you can see Wishes as well, although MK is much much further away than Epcot - 1 mile away vs. 5 miles away. The locations for veiwing Wishes should be very similar as Illuminations, as MK is almost in the same direction as Epcot. The only iffy spot might be that little tiny square at the end of building #1.
Watching from POP isn't as fun as being there in person, but it's still fun to see the fireworks anyway
You can also see some of the fireworks from Fantasmic (which is off towards the left of the picture above), but there just isn't as much as there as at Epcot and MK.
- We will be renting a car. Is there a certain building that is closer to the parking lot?
In general we want to request a location that is not too far away from parking lot and not too far from Classic Hall, but might still be able to see fireworks.
Check out post #1 for a general map of POP. You can see where the parking lots are, and what buildings are closest to the parking lots. In the 50s section, buildings 1 and 2 (as you can see on the image I posted) are the closest to the parking lot. There's also a parking lot just off the top of that image which is good if you're in building #2. Your best bet for being close to the parking lot and having a "fireworks view" room is
probably Building #2, however it's also the furthest from Classic Hall (although I didn't find it to be all that long of a walk, really - and we were in the absolute furthest north part of building 2 last time).
