Folks,

Here is a good article about the decline of the dining experience at WDW which includes the changes at Trails End. I like the way Kevin Yee writes in general and since this is one of my favorite rants (well, this and golf carts) I thought I would post it. I know we should be positive but it's nice to know I'm not a lone voice in the wilderness! :wizard:

Interesting article. I don't know if I'm a fan of the no wristbands thing. It sounds like it might bog things down if they have to check every guest in each line. There may also be alot of people just hanging out if they can stay past closing. We will see how it all plays out.

I'm glad we did the dining plan last year..given the changes over this past year, I'm not sure I'd do it again. Between the gratuity not being included, and now removing the higher priced items..it's not looking to be as enjoyable and good a value as it once was.

In the article, it stated that the reason why Trail's End changed their lunch menu is that on some days there were less than 100 people show up for lunch and due to this poor attendance most of the food had to be wasted. Now since you can not re-use pizza and fried chicken the way you can re-use cold cuts it had to be wasted. Well, that being said, my DH & I had gone to Trail's End for lunch in July and had cold fried chicken. We were so disappointed about the lunch menu now that we know that we will not go back.

About the attendance, whenever we would go for lunch back when the lunch menu was hot food, it was always sort-of crowded. When we went to Trail's End in July it was maybe 20 people while we were there.

Just wanted to say my cents

I dont understand the "leftover pizza" they made them up as they needed them, its not like they were stockpiling them? Thats also the same chicken and ribs they use for HDDR, they dont fry all that up just minutes before serving either, someone spends all day making chicken and ribs.
I am officially calling BS on that ....:lmao:

We ate at the Trail's End last night for dinner, and it was just "ok". The best part was the chicken -- very good, as usual! The pizza was gross, and the roast beef was kinda like jerky. lol The smashed potatoes were good though.

From now on, I think we'll just get take-out chicken. :)

We ate lunch at Trail's End when we were there a few weeks ago. We actually enjoyed it. I actually think it's better than a hot lunch on very hot days, like it was when we were there.

We were really disappointed in the lunch at TE in August. The waitress told us the kids could get chicken nuggets and mac & cheese made up if they did not like the buffet, so we ordered it up. While checking out the buffet the chef came out to let us know that the mac & cheese would be an extra $8 each on top of the buffet price! The kids just munched on a few things from the buffet instead, and the waitress came by to say she spoke with the manager and clarified that it would have just be a separate $8 menu charge as if ordering separately off the menu. However, it was a little too late, and we were just left with a feeling that we missed the old lunch that we had in 2003 (had to be pretty memorable to keep in our mind 5 years later).

Me - I'd rather hit the Earl of Sandwich than get a sandwich at TE now.

How about the Mickey Ds near All Starrs .... mmmmmm delicious - if you like that stuff! Almost like real food!
