our non-rushing (sorta) disney anniversary w/ PICS & VIDEO! new TR link - p. 136

so after we all climbed off our best-parade-ever cloud we decided to head to adventureland to get more jewels! when we got there we made some new, very unusual and scantily-clad friends!
i also saw princess jasmine but we didn't wait in the line to meet her. luke really wasn't interested and i'd already met her earlier.
at this point it was around 9:10 and the "magic, music and mayhem" fireworks started at 9:45, so ray and i decided to head towards the hub to get a good viewing spot. i had heard this show was great and i wanted to get good pics of it! so we split up and i told anna to call me when they got ready to head that way and i'd tell her where i was.
as we walked onto the hub from adventureland i grabbed the first trash can to the right in front of the castle. i always like to claim a trash can so that i can set up my tripod on top of it. my tripod is only like 12 inches tall, so i need to sit it on something. anyway, ray wanted to go check out the other stuff at the party so i told him to go ahead while i held our spot. as i was standing there by myself i just kind of looked around me and took everything in. it was soooooo pretty here at night, especially with the way they had things lit up for the party. everything in the main street area was lit up in red, blue and purple lights. so pretty! this picture doesn't do it justice AT ALL!
of course i got another shot of the castle from our viewing spot.
ray was back literally in 15 minutes and he had walked the entire park to check everything out and was telling me about what we hadn't seen yet. plus he came back with a coke and a cherry slushie, so that was a plus for me!
ray took some video as we were waiting for the fireworks to start. he got a good shot of our glowing tink that i had mentioned earlier in the TR....
anna and company showed up a few minutes before the show started and we all got ready for the show.
cheetos and fireworks.......can life get any better?
flat mattica and flat beana were excited about the fireworks too! you can barely make them out in these pics. they don't photograph well in the dark!
i didn't quite make it into this picture but it's hilarious of luke!
the show started right at 9:45 and it was just A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!!!! unbelievable. the layout was kind of similar to the parade: princesses first, pirates next and then a finale.
check out these swirly fireworks. they were during the bippity-boppity-boo song. so cool!
i think this was during the beauty and the beast part. see the rose in the case reflected on the castle?

they had a section where flora and meriwether were arguing over the colors......pink........no, blue!!!!! and the fireworks would change colors. it was really cute.
this is during the king triton portion of the show. you can see his staff reflected on the castle. they also had little fish swimming by. really neat!
okay......best part of the show.....when the pirates attack! captain hook and his boys trying to capture the castle. this is supposed to be a jolly roger, i think!
i love how this turned out, with the castle completely in the dark. during the pirate portion of the show there were lights going off EVERYWHERE. it was really chaotic but i think that was the point. you'll see in the video the BOOMS were so loud you can't even hear the music!

and now the finale......
this show was just absolutely unbelievable! i wish there were some way i could've had a 360-degree view with my camera around the park. i'm used to wishes where the fireworks are just behind or above the castle. there were fireworks going off EVERYWHERE during some parts of the show - in all the lands all around us. it was GORGEOUS!!!!!! ray was standing behind me videoing the show and i turned to him a few times and we just both looked at each other shook our heads. there were no words!
here's the video. you will see that ray has a hard time trying to keep up sometimes. and he tried to catch the 360-degree fireworks but it's so hard to adequately do it if you don't know what to expect. hope you enjoy!
i really wish i could fly you all to disney world just to see this show!!! i'm telling you - the fireworks show alone was worth the ticket price! i was very pleased with this!!!
up next.....our last 2 hours at disney world.

Happy to hear your camera works. The fireworks looked fantastic! I love the castle in different colors. Very soon you'll be on Main street again.

Another fantastic update!!!! I can't believe you girls are so close to your trip already! I am already missing the world and I just got back a week and a half ago. So when you go you better have fun for me...lol.

Your pictures are great, especially the fireworks ones. I never seem to have any luck photgraphing them. The PPP looks like its so much fun. I wasn't sure if I would enjoy it, but now I know I would and I really want to go.
tomorrow we can start playing "THIS TIME NEXT WEEK"!!!!!!!

The pictures are all great. They just make me want to go out the back door of the school, get in the car, and start driving south!

Dawn great pictures as always. That camel with the bikini . I can't wait to go back to Disney but I have a long time to wait. Good thing I have the DIS to keep my not from going until then and I have wonderful TR from you to read to keep me busy too. Those camels always freak me out a little
Your fireworks pix, once again, came out great! What kind of camera do you use? It looked like you were holding a Sony Cybershot - is that the one? Because that's the one I always take to Disney and my shots never come out that good. Last year, I had a very nice Photopass guy talk to me about using my "nighttime or fireworks" setting but that I really need a tripod to take shots like that. I saw a small, bendable one at Best Buy and I'm thinking of getting it to try for my trip in Nov. Is that what you're using?

this time next week, we will be seeing THIS SIGN!!!!!!!!!!!
the forecast is not looking too hot for thursday and friday next week. but i know how that changes HOURLY in florida! so i'm not complaining yet. and i don't want to say that i want gustav to go elsewhere because it has to go SOMEWHERE and i don't want to wish anyone to have to deal with a hurricane. i just hope it either fizzles out to a little bit of rain (not likely) or it moves through the area REALLY fast!
yeah, and he knows it!
today he wanted me to sit next to him in the car and it was breaking my heart because i couldn't - i didn't have time.

funny story about cheeto fingers. my one and only wedding dream/nightmare right before we got married was that i forgot to buy food for the reception, so i gave my mom some money and told her to run to the nearest store and buy finger food. well, the only thing she could find was a gas station so she bought a bunch of cheetos, so everyone at my reception had cheeto fingers and were getting orange cheeto stains all over my beautiful white wedding dress!
yeah, the castle changing colors was really cool, especially during the "pink, no, blue" part! hopefully i'll be in main street in DRY clothes!
we will definitely have LOTS of fun for you!!!!

the best tips i can give for fireworks pictures are to put your camera on a high sensitivity setting. it should say something like, "shoot without flash in low light reducing blur". also, try getting a 12-inch tripod to sit the camera on and use the top of a trash can. it's impossible to keep your hand steady enough for good fireworks shots without it! i hope you get to a P&PP......it's SO fun!

yeah, those cameras are kinda freaky, huh?
it is a sony cybershot. the number on the camera says DSC-W50. when i take fireworks pics i put it on the ISO setting. if you don't have anything that says ISO, just look for something that says, "high sensitivty - shoot without flash in low light reducing blur." and yes, i use a tripod. i've seen those bendy ones but i just have a little 12-inch straight one. it works great for sitting on top of a trash can! and it fits very easily into the bottom of a book bag.
