Halloweentime is over, hope you all had fun! Until next year....TTFN!

I am on the West Coast. I am TRYING to stay up to see the U.S. march in to the stadium - that is always a cool moment at any Olympics. A lot of big names on the U.S. team this year - in tennis and in basketball, for example. I am sleepy, but I wonder if this Chinese system of counting out strokes to spell the names will mean that the U.S. comes in any earlier than they normally would in the old alphabetical system.

The US is almost an hour in the parade from the start.

Okay, so I think the parade just began about 15 minutes ago or so, give or take a few minutes. So I can expect to see the U.S. in the 45 minutes, roughly. Right now, we are on India. I suppose I should pay attention to the other athletes, too! It is funny how so many people (including myself at times) are apathetic about the Olympics, when these athletes work SO hard to get to these games, and some of them have such hard-luck stories. I always end up getting weepy when I watch the little montages about their childhoods in Ethiopia or wherever. The Olympics really SHOULD be a bigger deal to Americans, but for some reason it isn't. We take them for granted, I guess!

Anyway, I am signing off for the night! I will be back tomorrow!

Adults definitely can go through the candy stations. I am sure there are some that don't but we figured we paid for the same admission as our kids so we should get candy too! It was fun to "trick-or-treat" again!

Anyone else want to be added to the list? :) Or have any pics to share from last years Halloweentime?

We need to keep the excitement going!!! Especially now that Halloween items are showing up in the stores and online. It makes it feel that much closer!! :cool1:

Add me to the list.

I'm going on October 3 (still have to get my ticket, though), and I'm going with my kids on October 28th (received as a generous gift :) ).

October 3
- Mary Jo

October 28
- Mary Jo, Kelly, Nick, & Yasmine (Nick's girlfriend)

Gosh, I just have to pop in to say a BIG HELLO to MJ and Tink33 - I haven't heard a peep from you two in ages! Especially Lesley.:) I wish you were going when we are (the 17th after the mini-meet). Anyway, nice to see you are still checking in and hangin' out.

Here are some pics we took at last year's MHT

There were so many things around the park that added to the whole atmosphere, plus all the barrels of CANDY, sliced apples, raisins...!

Here are some guests we saw. This year, Kelly (Daisuke on the boards) is going dressed up in some *** Play thingy.

This couple looks sooo cool!
11450mht034.jpg

Tigger was hilarious in Hollywood Backlot. He was acting very much the rascal during pics.

I got a kick out of these guys.
11450mht025.jpg

The 100 Acre Woods came to the park
11450mht022.jpg

I could have stayed for a long time listening to these scarecrows. They were so funny, and entertained the crowds. Here they are taking the pic "with attitude."
11450mht033.jpg

Even Kelly took a pic with them
11450mht016.jpg

And the scarecrows were besides themselves when they saw this family approach. It was so funny.

Chip & Dale
11450mht032.jpg

Jasmine & Prince Ali went as themselves in a small, but cute parade.

The park is all purty
11450mht026.jpg

The princesses daringly (I say daringly because of all the villains around!) greeted young guests.

There were so many characters to greet the guests. We saw Wendy & Peter Pan when we were at Pacific Wharf playing games.
11450mht021.jpg

And here's Donald
11450mht020.jpg

I almost had more fun watching the people dressed up than the actual park.

Note that Kelly took all the pics. I have a habit of saying that I took a pic, and she ... um... always proves to me that SHE took the pic! lol

I hate to be a downer but I my experience last year was very disappointing. I moved to California last year and I decided to go with my mom for some Halloween spirit. I think I was misinformed about the festivities because I had mistaken the trick or treat party for MNSSHP so I was expecting more. It was cute and I tried to make the best of it but it was really embarassing being the only teenager (17 at the time) dressed up; not to mention that there were absolutely NO adults dressed up either. I actually changed back to my regular clothes within the hour because I was getting stares :rotfl:

The candy was quite strange too. And I was expecting a large Halloween parade but there was only one float with Mickey and Minnie and it was clearly for the kids. I'm going to MNSSHP in Florida this year instead. I hope things will be better.

 I'm going to the mini-meet. :) At least I can say "Hey" there.

That is really a shame. If you want to go to where the teens are, then try Knotts Scary Farm - it's fantastic, and extremely popular among the teens & adults. There is no way Disney could compete (in my opinion), so they basically celebrate Halloween in a different way.

Also, Magic Mountain & Universal Studios put on a Halloween fun houses, etc., and they are fun to attend.
