Hi we have been surfing the various hotel websites :surfweb: and the prices are kinda outrageous for just north of MCO and the 3 hotels closest to the port.

Any hints or suggestions other than bidding blind on places like hotwire??

We do have AAA but those only seem to make such a small dint in rates it is kinda depressing!!:sad2:

WE would love your feedback!

Thanks in advance!

We were able to get a night at the Hyatt inside MCO for our arrival night in October. We got a government rate of $111.00 :thumbsup2

I was able to get a great rate at the Cocoa Beach Hilton with a government rate. If you can do that, go for it. Those are usually great rates. :goodvibes

When we fly in the night before, I use Priceline to get a room near MCO. If you do 2.5* or 3* the hotels all include a complimentary shuttle to/from MCO and some include complimentary breakfast. We typically pay $31-35 for the room. There is information on Priceline bidding and participating hotels by category at biddingfortravel. I was a little anxious about this system the first time, but have used it many times without any problems

For Orlando, you will want to use the "MCO area" unless you have a car. Rooms are cheapest in cities where there are lots available, and this includes Orlando! You'll pay more in the Cocoa Beach area. You can PM me if you have questions.

We have a govt rate of $99.00 at the Hyatt. I think that is great because all we have to do is get of the plane, collect our bags and the hotel is right there. Then, we can leave our bags out the night before the cruise and Disney will pick them up. The next morning it is simple walk to the shuttle and off to the port. I am looking forward to this.

Hope that helps.

We chose to stay at WDW in POP. With AAA, the room is $84/night. Last year we stayed at Comfort Inn for $70, and were not happy. The room needed updating, and we listened to traffic all night long. We decided it was worth $14 to get Disney service and security.

Well thanks for the suggestions you guys about the Hyatt and the gov ratefor Thursday night... just gave them a call and they only offer gov rate to american military.. my dh is Canadian military. Sigh... oh well, it would be lovely to stay right at the airport and head to the port the next morning!! But not at a rate of $241.00!! ACK!!
We are hoping to do the Radisson at the Port on Friday, and they too do not offer the Canadian Military the government rate, in fact they mentioned they only do offer it to state governments not federal?? seems weird:confused3

Thanks Tina,
I checked out your suggestion, but did not quite find much help for what I was looking for:confused3 ... but I have bookmarked it for further exploration later!!
Thanks bunches!!

I know that some people have used the Hyatt Stay Certificate that you buy before hand for a set price. It looks like for the MCO Hyatt during the week it's $135. I've read of many people on here using them, so maybe they could offer more help. Here's the link if you want to check it out:

Thanks MDHKITTEN!
Great suggestion, I will call them in the morning!!
Wish me luck!!

Try the prepay rate at the Radisson, I am getting it for $109 plus tax.

Hey Pastal,

Right now the prepaid rate for Feb 09 is showing at $139. I wonder if they will reduce the price closer to the date? How far in advance did you book for your stay to get the $109?

10 months in advance. February is a big break month though so the prices are most likely higher as a result.

Thanks for mentioning that, I never would have thought about the high season thing, so yes that $139.00 is probably the best we will find!

MDHKitten, I called the Hyatt to find out if I could use a 'stay certificate' for Feb 26th ( a thurs) and they are already showing rooms unavailabile for the certificate rate on that date!! :scared1: YIKES!!!

Thanks for the suggestion though, I thought I would share!
