PTR for the planning obsessed....Updated 11/5 We're home now.

Here's pictures of the craft project I did with the park maps and times guides that Scrappie-Do mailed to me after her trip.

I decorated a plastic tote to keep all of my Disney planning stuff in. That's my trip binder in there.

I put a border of Mickey Mouse scrapbook paper around the top and bottom because the width of the maps wasn't big enough.
81808009.jpg

Then I glued (and double sided taped because the tote is plastic) the maps on.

Because of the odd shape of the box top I couldn't use the waterpark or DtD maps (believe me I tried!) I used scrapbook stickers for the top instead.

I've done some other boxes that I thought you'd like to see. I usually use cardboard type storage boxes because they take the decoupage glue really well. (I had to use a plastic tote for the planning materials because I couldn't find anything else that was big enough)

Here's the one that I keep all my Disney photo albums, autograph books and press penny book in.

Here's the one I did for our Hawaiian Honeymoon. Along with the photo album, it holds black sand and other treasures from the trip. I used scrapbook paper and stickers for this as well.

This is the first one I did. It's Liam's baby box. It holds all those special things from the first year of his life. I use the wrapping paper from my baby shower (and other gifts) for the covering.

I have a huge fabric covered box that I used for all my wedding stuff...it lives under my bed. Once we do the addition to our house and I get my office off the master bedroom I'll have shelves built to put all the boxes on so they are displayed. At least that's the plan right now ;)

Heidi, I really love all of your boxes. It's an especially sweet idea for Liam. That is so awesome and they are all very pretty. I want to decopauge boxes now!! :lmao:

Heidi, you're so crafty! Those boxes look great. I'd love to do something similar--only I have no baby for a baby box :rotfl: and I have no room for vacation boxes. Sigh.

But I'll keep these in mind for when I have more space! :thumbsup2

Wow Heidi, you are so talented. I never would have thought about doing that stuff. Thank you so much for showing us!!

I LOVE your Disney box! I just bought a big ol' storage bin as our first o-ficial container but I bought a grey color so the kids couldn't peek into it - I'm trying to keep the stuff a surprise to my littlest ones! But I may have to have my DH do something to jazz it up for me- it's looking so sad compared to yours!

Thank you....you may steal the baby box idea for your wee little one when the time comes. I use Martha Stewart brand decoupage glue and sealer...works really well.

I don't have the room right now either :lmao: but I'm finding it easier to have everything organized than all over the house.

Thanks. I'm a reformed pack rat....I can keep stuff if it has a place. Like that biggie of black sand from Hawaii I have...where would you keep that in your house? I had no idea so I made a little box for it.

The Disney box with the maps is just my planning materials....binder...guide books....file-o-fax of maps...etc. My trip storage boxes are just jumbo diaper boxes...nothing too exciting there.

I'M COMING TO YOUR HOUSE FOR CRAFT CLASSES!!!

Oh my word those are so COOL!

No no....they are "kewl!" :cool2:

.

Heidi, those boxes are so cool!!! I now have yet another project to add to my list -- and I was afraid I wouldn't have anything to do this winter.

If you held classes, I would totally come to them!

Nice boxes!! What a fantastic way to store those types of things. Thanks for sharing - you have sparked my creativity!

You have to bring your own glue!

I can't wait to see what you come up with for a countdown calendar this winter!

:figment: Just one little spark......

Heidi, I love the boxes! I seriously need to look into something like this to hold more of DS' precious firsts. They're just in boring ole rubbermaids right now. What a great idea, and it looks wonderful. :thumbsup2

Hi, sorry it's been long tome to see from me!

First  on the room discount and how it worked out so well for you guys....I'm gonna need you to hold my hand when we getting ready to book the next one and walk thru your tricks...we could use a little savings....

2nd, love the 84 pic's that's great your Dad had them, they look great, I loved going on the skyway and so remember riding 20,000 Leagues too.
and love those short-shorts....thinking of the classic Nair commerical, huh?:lmao:

3rd, awesome crafty girl you are :worship: I'm making a spot in my scraproom to keep all the Diseny trip stuff more organized, a covered bin or box is so great. I have an old Crate & Barrel box covered w/ wedding wrapping paper that holds all our memorbillia from the big day, I since wrapped in plastic wrap to protect the paper from all the moves...

I'll have a cool end of summer craft I'll be showing on my TR inspired from a Family Fun mag article, this would be so up your alley!

Thanks, Liam's box is my favorite. It's also the one I took the most time to do. Here and there during naps when he was an infant.

I haven't updated in awhile so this post will be odds and ends.

Well Disney has changed my plans....and I'm not happy about it. Typhoon Lagoon is now going to be closed while we are there. We were scheduled to be there October 27....they close for rehab on the 26th! I'm not that excited to go to Blizzard Beach....I've been there and we had fun but we were going to TL for DS. From the research I've done it looked like TL's toddler area is far superior to BB's. So now I'm thinking of just hanging out at the resort pool that day....and maybe go to another resort for lunch, maybe the petting farm at the FW Campground.

I had to get the 2009 edition of the Unofficial Guide....I get a new one every couple of years. I got it from Amazon so you know I had to spend $25 to get free shipping.

I really like Realityland....in a nutshell it's about the construction and early days of MK and Epcot. I wasn't impressed with the Field Guide to Epcot....nothing really new in there for me. I thought it would be more techinical. DH is currently reading it....I have no review from him yet. UG is just my reference guide....I think of the UG book as the text book of Disney guide books.

A couple days after getting the books in the mail I had this surprise in my mail box:
82108001.jpg

82108003.jpg

It's just my ressie confirmation paperwork but I wasn't expecting it so I was excited to find it waiting for me.

This isn't totally Disney related, at least not this year but here are some pictures our our little garden.
One of 4 or 5 little pumpkins

Our one watermelon

And one of our 2 GAINT sunflowers (that is a 6 foot fence by the way)
82108013.jpg

Liam and I check the garden everyday

I have always wanted to grow Mickey head shaped pumpkins just like in the Living with the Land ride.

DH says that he will have the Mickey form(s) made for us for next years growing season.

I have been doing a ton of vacation shopping that I want to share with you...plus I'd still like to do my tiny mini Santa's Village tr; so hopefully I'll get the time this week. DS has been teething at waking up the last 3 out of 4 nights so I'm missing some sleep. Plus I'm afraid that the seizures might be coming back for my dog with the brain tumor. Not fun.

I read the funniest TR last night...."Why I havent' spoken to my sister......." (or something like that). It has links on the first page so you can get thru it easily.

Heidi, wow on the sunflowers!!!!

They look HUGE next to Liam. And I love pumpkins, so pics of those, even if they're not technically Disney related is fine by me.

Yeah for the confirmation arriving, that's exciting. :goodvibes

:cool1: For the new UG!!

Bummer about TL being closed - I don't really know the waterparks at all - other than River Country back in the 80s... so I can't be much help there. I'm sure Liam will love the pool at the resort too though.

Your yard and gardens are beautiful! We grew one green bean this year. :rotfl: Last year was our first try at veggies - we grew a bunch of tomatoes and cucumbers, but I was too slow to get them planted this year. Alex brought home a bean plant and I put it in the garden - I ate the one bean yesterday.

Those sunflowers are beautiful!

Liam is such a cutie.

I loved Realityland, have you finished reading it yet? I also ordered my 2009 Unofficial Guide. :thumbsup2

My pumpkins are like my new babies. I found the bump of a new one this weekend and was very excited.

DH planted later then he should have, hence the size of our pumpkins.

Liam says thanks!
Half way thru the book, I might have to get the one the author wrote on Disneyland.

Hurray for unexpected Disney mail -- I am surprised also since lately it seems like all their stuff comes through email.

Your sunflowers and pumpkins are great! I  pumpkins!

Liam is precious as always!!! What a cutie!
