The Ideal Fish Extender

I'm planning to make fish extenders for my family cruise coming up soon. What would you include in the perfect fish extender?

I didn't post in the poll because I think it depends on how many you have in your family. We are a family of four, so I have a pocket for each family member. I had it made from a DISer that sells on Ebay, and it is awesome! I also had it personalized with our family name on a mickey head on the top and then on each pocket a mickey head with each person's name. I wanted it personalized so someone wouldn't decide they needed it more than I did on our cruise. Good luck with yours!

I made five for our recent back2back cruises. Each had two pockets and I used Mickey fabric. I knew that there wouldn't be individual gifts for each person so two deep (6") pockets worked fine for us.

If I make another, I will go for an island theme.

I have a themed pocket for all 5 of us.
dh has Steelers
ds has Star Wars
dd has butterflies
dd has Tink
me I have Mickey.

also a plastic tie to secure it, so no one walks off with it.

Anything you chose would be fine. 1 thing I recommend - is put your names on it - whether real or DIS - in a permanent way. That will hopefully deter anyone from wanting to take it.

Mine has Tigger on it.

We have three in our family so ours will have three pockets. I'm making one now that is a pirate theme...actually Pirates of the Caribbean. I did see one on Ebay I loved but by the time I got to go and order it, it was gone. It was the most beautiful aqua green color background.
Anyway....I like a pocket for each person, with something meaningful to that person on their particular pocket.

I made ours with a blue background (think ocean), a DCL type logo at the top....deep pockets, one for each person in our group. I embroidered a design suitable to each person on "their" pocket, but didn't put names on the pockets.

For instance, DD loves Chip and Dale, so they were on one pocket. My character is Belle, so she was on one.

I have 2 pockets, one for me and one for my DH. It is on yellow fabric and is themed with Tinkerbell. Both of our names are on it as well as our last name. But I made a mistake in not reading the dimensions, so ours is probably going to be too big. Oh, well, we will make do.

I ordered my fish extender from a fabulous seller on Ebay. Mine has three pockets, is personalized and has nautical Mickey and Minnie on the top, Eeyore on my pocket, Grumpy on DHs pocket and Chip and Dale on the spare pocket. I really wanted Figment for my pocket, but that was the one character she did not have.

Each member of your family can have a pocket. Then if you get involved with the Disers here, once you get onboard you can give/recieve small little gifts for each other.

We currently have about 7 families participating on our Wonder cruise. We will bring things to place in their "fish extender"

I went to ebay and found Tiffany, a fellow Disser, who makes these Fish extenders. I will be getting mine soon so I will be sure to post pictures. I am just so excited!

so there are people that will personallize them for you all I saw when i looked it up were about 5 and none I would want

I agree with all the above posters that you need to put your name to discourage theft. We put all our names at the top and then had 2 pockets. We found graphics online of each person's favourite character and printed them out onto iron-on transfers. Then put DH and mine on one pocket (Jiminy Cricket & Baloo) and our DD's on the other pocket (Belle & Sleeping Beauty) With just 2 pockets I had room in between the pockets for Mickey, Minnie, Daisy, Donald, Goofy and Pluto to be surrounding a Canadian Maple Leaf.

I was lucky enough to get one of the ones that Soccermom-Cheri made for our cruise and it was PERFECT with the 2 pockets! (Thanks again Cheri!) But we were only a group of 11 families participating...so I guess if your FE group is a lot bigger then 3 pockets might be nice...but for a small group you would only need a couple! I think you need to know how big your group is that's participating in the exchange to have a better idea on how many pockets!

(PS) I voted on the "extra deep" pockets 'cuz they were really nice and stuff wasn't falling out & sticking out for other people to be tempted to steal!!

No vote, again because it depends on your family. Judging from your post, though, I'd say 3 for you. We had one made by someone on the board who makes them. It had 4 pockets and was made out of fabric that was red with a pattern of Mickey heads in black. We personalized it with puffy paints and glitter glue. My dds (8 and 10) each did their own pocket and wrote their names in paint. I added glitter glue to "my" pocket and added my DH's name to his. (He decided to leave "his" pocket alone.) It turned out very cute!

We didn't get individual gifts for everyone, but we did get some that were combo gifts. What we gave, we gave to each person in the family. It was a lot of fun! I loved the diversity in the ones we saw and those that I have seen pictures of!


Just looked at the rest of the posts. Anal Annie's fabric is what ours were made of. Except the pocets were all out of that fabric and we "colored" the mickeys with paints or glitter glue.
