Buying favorite beverage on the ship

Ok here goes, My DH has this question. Ok you can bring your favorite beverage on the ship and you can buy it at a liquor store in Nassau and bring it on the ship and take it to your room right. But he said he read that when you buy it in the liquor store on the ship you can not take it to your room that they will deliver it to your stateroom the last night of your cruise. Here is my question or our question, Is this true? And what is the difference of you buying it at port or bringing it on board from home? I just had to ask. We have 3 weeks til we cruise, suppose to get cruise doc today so we will see.

Yes, it is true.
No difference in bringing it from home or buying it in port, the only difference is buying it on the ship.

You are not allowed to buy alcohol in the ports and take it on board. The only place to buy the alcohol is in the ship's store and they will then send it to your cabin on the last night for you to take home. They do not allow alcohol to be sent to the ship from the ports for safety reasons and will just don't allow it. Each Guest returning from the Bahamas to the U.S. can bring back up to a total of U.S. $800 worth of duty-free merchandise (retail price). Each Guest 21 and older is limited to 2 liters of alcohol, of which 1 liter must be produced in the Bahamas and Guests 18 and older are limited to 200 cigarettes and 100 cigars (excluding Cuban cigars). These limits are mandated by U.S. law and are subject to change

This happened to us in Grand Cayman, I wanted some Tortuga rum and you can not walk out fo the store with it (if you tell them you are on a cruise or they know) but Disney will not accept the delivery. Guess the trick is to not tell them so you can carry it out of the store with you somehow. Not sure how the delivery only system works if it is customs, they way they do it, or just unknown reason.

I did not get my rum.....

We were in Nassau on the Wonder last week .... bought two bottles of Old Naussau Rum (after trying all the free samples ) had them boxed and brought them on the ship. It was obvious what we had and no-one said anything, we walked off the ship and through Border Patrol with the same boxes - no problem. The only liquor you can't take with you' is from Radar Trap, they deliver to your stateroom on the last night of the cruise.

We have never had a problem with buying anything in any port and bringing it onto the ship and taking it to our room. Yes, you have to carry it around with you and bring it onto the ship yourself. This includes boxes labeled as to the contents.

The ship will not accept deliveries of any kind in the ports excluding Port Canaveral (and there are restrictions there as to size and contents). Deliveries of medical supplies shipped to PC are an exception.

On arrival at PC, you are subject to US Customs regulations.

I have no idea why you weren't allowed to buy liquor at a store and take it with you to the ship--this looks like a problem with the store as it is not a ship issue.

Not true, we brought back 4 bottles of rum and a case of Bud Light when we were at Nassau. Keep in mind that they charge $45.00 a case for Bud Light in Nassau.

Disney is one of the few, if not the only cruise line that allows passengers to bring alcohol onboard, both on initial arrival as well as from ports of call. Other cruise lines confiscate alcohol which the passenger can claim it at the end of their cruise.
The merchant was confused or unaware that Disney is an exception.
My cousin (the avid know it all cruiser) and I had this discussion, he was shocked.
Each port has limits and Disney explains those on their site. For the Bahamas and some other ports it's 2 liters , some of the ports there is a limit of 1 liter, it varies.

This is not true, exactly.... We've been on 2 cruises. In Nassau we purchased bottles of alcohol and were allowed to carry them back on board. The package was like a drink carrier for bottles and had a see through window so there was no confusion that we were bringing alcohol back.

The difference was in other ports. In The Grand Cayman, they would not allow you to carry liquor out of the store... I guess they knew when you paid with cash or credit card... I don't know... but we also tried to buy Rum (like someone else) and were not allowed because the store's have a delivery policy, but DCL doesn't accept "third party deliveries" which is what this would be. It depends on the rules of the port... We think we would have been able to bring something back from Cozumel, but we didn't try as we thought, Mexico... Tequila, and we wanted Rum... from the next port. If we had known, would have purchased Rum in either Cozumel or Key West. We just wanted to get some "local" or "exotic" rum and didn't know there were delivery rules in Cayman. So instead we purchased Rum on board, which the whole purpose was to bring it home so the restrictions about receiving it the last night didn't matter. Hope that clears it up because some of the answers were partially right, but as they were stated... they were incorrect.

Does anyone know about the Eastern Itinerary... any "rules" like this that a souvenir alcohol buyer should know about. I know you can bring back more bottles... so I would think the ports don't have the "delivery" rules that Grand Cayman had, but I'm just guessing??? Anyone know the details????
