First the actual booking of the cruise. We love the planning, posting, figuring, watching old DVD's and pictures of past cruises. Start saving money. Make the airline reservations. Then you go to the boards and see what's new and what's going on for your time period, You wonder if the actual day will ever arrive. You check the web site every couple of weeks. Then it's a couple of months away and you start to plan a little bit more, maybe Palo, maybe excursions. Watching the old DCL program on the Travel Channel (how many times have we seen that show?!!)Then you start to read the boards daily, figure out what clothes to bring, keep checking for your stateroom number. Then a month before - where's my stateroom, everyone else has theirs, and then that morning you check on the website - yea, stateroom #- You got an upgrade!! Now the planning gets intense, reading everything you can. Now you're waiting for the docs - can't be far away now. You don't think you can stand it, you want to go right now. Uh oh, is that a hurricane forming south of Haiti, now you start watching the weather - Oh great, is my airline going to change my flight? Then when you don't think you can stand it any more you start playing the "next week at this time we'll be boarding the ship" game and it's almost here. Work drags on and the clock goes backwards - and then it's the night before. What we've been planning, hoping, shopping, & saving for - the vacation starts when we are done with work the day before and do the final pack that night. Just like the TV commerial of the little boy - "I'm too excited to sleep"! Then the plane trip, staying the night before at the Hyatt, putting on my Minnie ears, going down to the DCL bus at the airport, heading off to the Port, rounding that corner and seeing it - The Wonder - we're here!!

Anyone else do this - or just me?!!

no, you're definitely not the only one. All of our Disney vacations I have done that with. As this is our first cruise, I think I am even a little more crazy about it. My husband laughs because I already have my packing list, and am slowly filling a box of things we need to take with us. We dfo the Western in Nov. These boards are the greatest source of info. For a first time cruiser, any and all of my questions are answered, or I have had my post answered quickly by all the experienced cruisers on this site!!!

I've still got about 7 months for my cruise and I'm already checking the boards daily for information!!

It's over 8 months for me and I am here every day too! :)

I have 8 months to go today and I too am here SEVERAL times a day! Don't want to miss a thing :lmao:

I am over a year away from my cruise and I am totally obsessed.

How's this sound. We are 15 months out. We already have a pile in the house of things we are bringing with us. As we remember or buy something (assuming we don't need it until then), it goes into the pile. We also have a growing list of things to bring with us so when we think of something we won't forget about it later.
We have a countdown calendar hanging on the fridge (only 63 weeks left), and even though there is no chance that airlines have released flight schedules yet I still check about once a week just to make sure.
I can't even imagine what life would be like if I wasn't planning, organizing, anticipating or stressing about an upcoming Disney trip.

I just noticed on my cruise countdown that I am under 7 months now. YEAH!

This site certainly becomes an obsession, but what better way to prepare for the most awesome vacation in the world!!

Do you think people obsess this much about other cruise lines. I know they all have their fans who would not go on any other ship, but do they obsess about it?

For other cruise lines, I've obsessed more about excursions than anything else. DCL is just a whole different experience! :thumbsup2
