Luggage transfer when staying at MCO night before?

So do you have to pick up your luggage if you come in the night before or will Disney automatically hold and transfer it the next day? We thought of taking a carryon for that night's needs. We would take the bus transfer the next morning from the Hyatt.

TIA

Monica

Hi Monica-
You pick up your luggage at the airport and the Hyatt will grab it from you the morning of Embarkation and get it to DCL. :thumbsup2

I should have been more clear sorry, We will take the transfers from the Hyatt but stay at a 3 star through priceline most likely. So would the Hyatt still take care of luggage? Would we HAVE to pick up our luggage?

Monica

Okay, so you are arriving at MCO via plane but not staying there. Correct???? (The Hyatt is inside MCO). If you are arrivng by plane, then going to what ever hotel, you have to grab your own bags. If you are staying at the Hyatt, no matter how you booked, they will take your bags that AM. If you are staying at another hotel, then you are responsible for getting yourself back to MCO and to the MEARS side of the airport to DCL transportation. I am sorry, tell me exactly your plans. You fly in, where are you staying and how are you getting to port. It does not matter how you booked your flight or hotel.:confused3

Monica-
PM me your email address. I have a detailed email that I put together for all of my 1st time DCLers that go with us. I have it saved. It will take you step by step. All of the people I have ever given it to says it was far better than Passporters. (See the OCDness pays off). It will tell you everything down to when to go to the bathroom.:lmao:

We might or might not be staying at the Hyatt. I plan to name my own price on Priceline for a 3 or possibly 2 1/2 star hotel in the Orlando Airport Zone. It could be one of about 7 hotels. I should be able to get something for around $60 so even with the cab fare it will still be a good deal. We will take a cab/shuttle back to the airport (I guess acatually the hyatt) and catch the disney bus to the port. I just am not going to pay $130 for the Hyatt. Since it is just dh and I we can pick price over convience.

Okay, that makes sense. I think you will find the e-mail far more detailed than here, but I will post for others to know as well. The confusion is "The Hyatt". The Hyatt is an individual hotel that is just by chance located inside of the airport. You hear a lot about them here on the boards because of their location plus the fact they have a business deal with Disney. As a result, they do nice inclusive stuff like pick up your bags for you and get them to Disney if you are doing a DCL or WDW vacation. Just a little nice thing they do because Disney gives them so much business. If you are staying at the Hyatt, they too will get your luggage the morning of Embarkment and get it to transportation; if you are using Disney transfers (which is downstairs in the airport on the Mears side). You are responsible for obtaining your luggage the day you arrive. If you are staying at another airport location, you are responsible to get yourself back to MCO (has nothing to do with the Hyatt at that point - just pretend they are not there) and you check in for DCL transportation if you are using them. The email will take you step by step. Let me know if you need the others.

I have been chiming in and out of the cruiseline boards. My first cruise is next May 28, 2009 Wonder cruise. So I'm soaking up any and all info, already have a PassPorter. I don't know what family I shoud belong to, but I'm open for adoption! :rotfl: Ok, I'll pm you my email! Thanks...:wizard:

Also, if you do stay at the Hyatt MCO, you put your tags on your bags after you pick them up, but before the Hyatt people pick it up.

OK, thanks makes perfect sense. Hyatt would be easier. We'll see how cheap I can get it. I will keep my eyes on hotwire as well.

Sorry to cut in, but this is kind of the thread I was looking for and everyone seems to know what they are talking about. We are flying in the night before and staying at the Hyatt. To make our trip special I would like to take a limo to the port the next morning, but not sure how that would work. We do have the luggage transfer by disney plan. My question then is if we tag our luggage and the Hyatt takes it in the morning to be taken to the ship, do we have to ride the Disney bus to the port?

Thanks!

I think the cruiseline transfers were probably included in your package rate. Why would you want to pay again for a limo?

Mainly because I paid for this almost a year ago, and didn't really check into or know about the limo thing until just recently. I thought it would cost much more than it does. Also, because we would like to do one thing in the morning before we depart for the port, and would like to then head to the port at about 11:30 or so, and don't want to chance having to wait forever to get on the shuttle. Also, we are then staying at the Polynesian after the cruise for 6 nights and would like to get their fairly quick on the morning the cruise ends, as we would like to get to AK shortly after it opens. Don't think we will have the park tickets in hand until we check into the Poly, so unfortunately we would have to make a stop there before heading to the AK.

I should have explained all of that.

Thanks,
Kandice

Can you cancel your DCL transfers and get reimbursed for them? Otherwise, I can't see eating the cost of the transfers.

I'm not sure, according to the information I have from our travel agent it just says it is included and doesn't give a price. I'll check if we can't that is okay, as most of the trip was a gift from grandparents. With my husband (who by the way is not thrilled abou this trip) I want this to be a once in a lifetime experience for our 2 kids, so the extra cost is okay. I just was hoping we could send the luggage from the Hyatt to DCL so that we wouldn't have to deal with it, but if I am reading posts correctly you have to also travel on the bus.

Thanks for your time.

You say that Hyatt has a deal with Disney to pick up our luggage for us. But when is that? They are charging us $10.00 to pick up our luggage. But then they will pick them up the night before to get them to the Disney Shuttle. Should they be charging me for the pickup? I am a bit confused.:confused3

Please help. Although, $10.00 is not that much, I don't want to be taken advantage of.

I think that $10 might be for the pickup from the airport luggage carousel to your room. I wasn't informed of any fee...then again, I'm going down to pick up my baggage on my own before going to check in at the Hyatt.
