We are planning on taking a 4 or 7 night cruise in summer of 2010. I was thinking about ordering the DCL PassPorter. I went to their website and they had a 2008 edition. Will there be a 2009 edition soon or do they only come out every 2 years for the cruise?

I believe the 2008 edition came out in March of this year, so I would expect 2009 to be released March of next year and 2010 the following year. There are some changes between editions - if policies have changed, changes made in drydock, if new ports have been added, etc. If you don't want to purchase one now, your local library may have a copy to give you an idea of what to expect.

I bought my 2008 PassPorter because it gives me something to look at while I'm waiting for the release of the 2010 itineraries.

I think it will probably be out in Spring of next year. I got my 08 edition this summer....I can't put it down!!!!!!:laughing: Great resource.....You can also download e-books for only 4.95 from the Passporter website....I think the one about cruising is called "Cruise Clues" or something like that. I downloaded it yesterday and am in the process of reading it....
Good luck and Have fun:love: :flower3: ;

sorry for my ignorance but what are you guys talking about?

The Passporter is the absolutely best info book you can buy for the cruise. Beats Birnbaums hands down by about a million times. I think the only thing not described in depth in the book is what the engines look like:rotfl:

As for the parrothead cruise, well that'd be mine:thumbsup2 And it is definitely going to be a blast. Its not too late to switch your dates and come cruise with us;)

The PassPorter is a travel guide. They're published for several different destinations, but their DCL one is incredibly popular - it's one of the only DCL-specific travel guidebooks out. They release a new edition each year & update information about changes in ports of call, changes made during drydock, etc. It seems that many people on here buy the new edition each year, although that could just be my perception.

DH & I found the PassPorter to be somewhat useful in preparing for our cruise, but these boards were much better. We bought the deluxe edition of the book, which comes in a nice leather binder, and has pockets in the back to organize paperwork you'll need for the vacation. This was invaluable to us, as we booked excursions on our own & needed a place to keep the paperwork so we wouldn't lose it. I don't know that we'd buy an updated edition (maybe when the new ships come out), but we'll definitely get more of the organizer pockets before our next trip. :)
