Air Tran Headache

Ok this isn't a question more of a comment with a question inside. Air Tran changed both of my flight times and they never even notified that it happened. I would say that it happened for the better, 1 hour earlier the the day we fly in and 2 hours later the day we go home, but now i have to call Disney and change my magical express stuff because i just received it in the mail. Does anyone know if this will happen again before we leave?

Airtran changed our flight times 2 weeks ago for our upcoming trip in Sept. I didn't like the times, so I called and they let me switch flights! Now we are arriving in Orlando at 11:30am instead of 7pm :cool1:
I have heard that if your flight is within 2 weeks, you are pretty safe with the times, but I have heard that they can change anytime.

It might happen again, but it's not too big a thing as far as I know with the Magical Express. Just call them and they'll change their computer info. Try not to stress about it and enjoy your vacation!

I wasn't really stressing it was just if I didn't check it, i would have went and checked in online and would've found out the day before we leave that the flight was 1 hour earlier. We are getting into Orlando now at 9 am. so that is cool and we get to leave at 5 pm on the day we fly out.

we are leaving next week - AT changed both our flights as well, about 3 months ago (like you, for the better) but my travel agent sent me the changes...
I wouldn't stress about them changing it again and not getting ME transfers. I think Disney will get you there, no matter what time your arrive....All my ME vouchers just have the date of arrival and the booklet only has flight numbers and no times - I bet this happens to them all the time, esp. with weather delays, not every flight can be there "on time". I'd say if you can call them and let them know, then I would, but if it happens again and there is not enough time to get new vouchers, as long as you have your vouchers and your ME booklet with your flight numbers, you'd be OK
Our first ME booklet had vouchers for my DH and sons, but not for me.... Disney told my travel agent that it would have been OK, bc they had me on the "manifest" for arrival on Flight 565 (she had them print and send new ones anyway).
If you booked your flights yourself, your best bet is to periodically check your AirTran reservation to "keep up" with what they are doing with the flight times, etc. If you booked through a travel agent and they are not notifying you, then I think you need a better agent!
Good luck!:flower3:

i booked everything myself, i didn't use any travel agent. I can't see paying someone for that service especially when disney does such a great job helping with all the planning. I have 32 days left and can't wait to go. I will be checking Air Tran every week until vacation since the lady on the phone just told me that if the planes are not crowded they could switch them again

FYI - you don't have to pay a travel agent to use their services. They get paid a commission by the supplier (i.e., Disney, the hotel or whatever). Occasionally a TA will ask for a fee, but mostly either for domestic air only (no commissions anymore - generally a very small fee), or if they have highly specialized expertise.

Just wanted to set the record straight!

I didn't know, All that i know is the in 2003 we went to use a travel agent for our trip to Beaches of Negril and her price was $400 more than the price I received directly through Beaches.

As I posted in a standalone post, AT changed the return flight from the trip I booked... The flight I booked is still available, a few minutes later than my booking but the ininerary was changed to leave 3 hours earlier now...

I wonder if I can change it back for no fee... BTW, the travelers were not notified of the change...

BTW - you don't need to change the ME stuff - the only thing that matters is the hotel name so that the bags are delivered correctly - flight information makes no difference at all.

Airtran generally won't notify you until everything is finalized sometimes a couple of weeks later. It can and probably will change again - depending on when you are traveling.

I hope that isn't the case. We leave in 31 days. hopefully they don't change it again

We actually had Airtran change our Oct flights to a different day without notifying us. I just happened to sign on to check the flight times since they seem to be moving so many and noticed that the flights were now listed for the day before we booked.

AirTran cancelled our flights and never notified us. They will no longer be in the airport we were flying from. Yet they still send emails about amazing savings on the flight from that airport. Yup, pretty amazing....it doesn't exist. That would be a miracle, worth all the money in the world! LOL....

Good thing you checked. Did they still have flights for you on the day you originally were suppose to leave.

Yes, but it was at another airport an hour and a half away. I was nervous they would do the same thing there, too, so I called and cancelled. Got a refund and booked another airline. Couldn't take the chance. It is for President's Week....airfares have already skyrocketed for that week.

Up until this, they were great. We always had positive experiences with them. It's a shame they will no longer be here.

As stated earlier in the thread, you don't have to call ME at all. You can simply change the return flight info at the ME desk when you check in. As long as the resort is the same, you are golden.

ME will simply route your bags when they come through. It isn't any different than if your flight was delayed.

Duds

Just an FYI to everyone, if you book through a travel agent, or disney on-line (like I did), AirTran will notify them of the change. I was checking up on my flights a month ago and noticed they had changed my flight too. I called and was told since I booked my flight through Disney, they only notified Disney. They were very nice about it, put my email address on the itinerary and said from that point on I would be notified if there was a change.

Airtran switched our time of depature for our upcoming trip from 6:49pm to 5:30pm (I think its for the better).I received an email notifying me of the change and when I didn't respond to the email alert they resent it again.I make sure they have my phone number and email addy when I purchase tickets so if theres a problem I get notified.:rotfl:
