Sooze's Surprise Trip for DS's 8th UPDATE! p.20 #287 11/3 Link to New TR p.19

Enjoying your report. I think it is great you were able to pull off the surprise for ds. Look forward to the rest of your report.

Love Matt's shirt, where did you get it?

And how fun to suprise him like that! I can't wait to see what he wants to do first!

Allyson

Loving it so far. It's funny kids reactions isn't it? You're waiting for a huge reaction and they give so so, and when it's something little they go over the top:confused3 I don't get it but as you said he probably was worried that maybe it was a joke and disbelief. I could just feel your excitement in the pictures. Can't wait to read more. I love Matt's t-shirt too.

I love Matt's shirt.
And Ty's reaction kills me.

I got that shirt on ebay (after hearing about it on the DIS, of course!)
And Ty's reaction killed us, too! We worked too hard convincing him otherwise, I guess!!

Yea! An update. What a fun trip..... he was truly surprised! Can't wait for more, enjoy the remaining summer days!

Yes.. an update! I'm ashamed at how long it took!

I'm eager to read more, too! LOVE all the pics. That smile on Tyson's face is great!! What a lucky kid!

You three look so happy in the group shot. I can feel the excitement just by looking at it!

I'll get another update up hopefully tonight! I know.. looking at those pics brought the excitement back for me, too!

I like Matt's shirt too and yeah for the Disney glow. I think all 3 of you have it! :thumbsup2 popcorn::

You know.. we DID all have the 'glow' didn't we? Thanks for pointing that out!!

It was SOOOOO hard to keep this from Ty. We are now discussing our Spring Break 09 trip, and it's awesome to have him involved again!!

I found Matt's shirt (and got one for myself, of course) on ebay. I heard about them on the DIS and immediately went and snagged some! We love them, too!

Seriously! I think his reaction to the pool at the EconoLodge was more excited! ;) Although, we could tell by his demeanor that he was just beyond belief! And we ARE a joking family, so I can understand his hesitant reaction!!:rolleyes1

Great update!!! Too funny about his reaction. During the .....???..... parts I was imagining crickets chirping. :lmao: So glad you guys finally made it there. You all look so happy!! Can't wait to read what Ty wants to do first.

great update, i am sure you did finding nemo the ride, since it is a family and mommy favorite.

i am now off to ebay to find that shirt.

OK, I had the hugest dorkiest ear to ear smile on my face as I read this:rotfl: I LOVE that Ty was so convinced he wasn't going that it took awhile to register! I also loved his line "you guys are tricking me!" I too LOVE Matt's shirt! Thanks for the update and I can't wait to hear what's next!:goodvibes popcorn::

Tyson finally said: "You guys are tricking me..."
They have so little faith in us! :rotfl:

The DISNEY GLOW!!

If this doesn't just say it all! :goodvibes
So... what does Tyson want to do first?! Stay tuned for the SHOCKING answer. Really... he shocked us both!!
Hmmmm.... LWTL? JII? Oh Canda?! :scared:

Yes.. we use the cricket chirping reference often! Glad you could hear it too!:lmao:

Good guess... but we actually didn't go NEAR the Nemo ride the entire time we were there! One of the blessing of not having the toddler with us!;)

I love dorky smiles!!:upsidedow
Yeah.. the whole trying-to-convince-him-otherwise strategy kinda back fired on us! But it was still fun watching Ty slowly come to the realization that we were for real!

If this doesn't just say it all! :goodvibes

Hmmmm.... LWTL? JII? Oh Canda?! :scared:

and how!!

Doing an update tonight...stay tuned!

I was hoping to jump on SE when we got to Epcot. I just wanted to see our faces on the funny animation. But as we approached the big ball, to our surprise, we saw... A LINE... a BIG line... for Spaceship Earth!?! My gosh, we MUST be here in July! I'm telling you, when we come in September and January, we walk right on to this... but there was TRULY... A LINE!!

Sorry, not waiting 30 minutes for Spaceship Earth.. not gonna do it!

So it was Tyson's pick, and I knew it was going to be either Test Track or Mission: Space... What's it gonna be Tyson?

08DisneySurprise026.jpg

"What's so shocking about that?" You ask?:confused3
Look closer... the boy is holding an ORANGE SIDE pass. YES!! He did not hesitate for a second... he wanted the INTENSE training. What!?! Apparently, my sister took her family to WDW in June and her step-son, who is a mere 6 years old, rode the orange side. He bragged all about it to Tyson, which, I guess, is all it took!

Ty was ready!!

Matt was not..

He gets so queasey on orange side, but did not want to miss this momentous occasion with his only son! So he sucked it up and ventured on in!

08DisneySurprise027.jpg

Okay, I ask this in every TR, but never have gotten an answer...
Does ANYONE know what these people are doing in here?
08DisneySurprise028.jpg

There is always someone sitting in here. My hypothesis is that they use it as a break room... that the CMs are checking email and Facebook while looking like they are updating some important rocket protocol or something!

We gave Ty all of the standard warnings about keeping his head back, not looking side to side, keeping his eyes open... blah blah blah... Let me tell you ... the boy had a BLAST!!! Not only did he not mind the 'intensity'.. but he was able to continue pressing all of the random buttons and flipping levers throughout the entire ride. He was in heaven!!

Matt stablized himself long enough to get over to Test Track with us. We were going to get FP, but saw the standby was only 20 minutes. Turned out to be 40, and Ty was not happy. But we had to explain that we are here in JULY... not September.. so get over it!!!

Found this... do you think it qualifies as a hidden Mickey?
08DisneySurprise030.jpg

Ty getting boo boo about waiting in line:
08DisneySurprise031.jpg

Ty after we reminded him that even tho we are in line, we are in line at DISNEY WORLD:
08DisneySurprise032.jpg

Finally in the car!
08DisneySurprise033.jpg

I forgot to mention that while I was contemplating the LINE at Spaceship Earth, Matt had run over to Soarin' for FPasses....

Moving on...

We had some time to kill before our Soarin' FP and decided to head to Innoventions. Tyson had a few favorites in this place. One is the fire engine. He climbs right up and goes to town on the buttons... he just loves those things!

08DisneySurprise040.jpg

08DisneySurprise041.jpg

He also adores the music robots that you are able to program with the computer screen. I was proud of my boy here, because Matt and I sat on a bench and watched him play. We witnessed him give up his computer to a kid that was waiting for one... without us even making a face at him! :woohoo:

08DisneySurprise042.jpg

At last we were on our way to Soar over California... with FP in hand, we made our way into the Land. Doh!! The escalators were broken and there was some major congestion. Hey, at least we weren't carting around a toddler, right?:confused3 It just took a bit longer than we hoped. As Tyson pointed out... "It's crowded, but it's DISNEY crowded!" That's my boy!

I love Soarin'.... LOVE it! But the wait is painful. Even with FP, it's too long! And to top it off, we always ask for top/center.. so sometimes we have to wait a whole other cycle. It's worth it though!

08DisneySurprise046.jpg

Well, we had flown to Mars, flew around the TT building at 64 MPH, and rode our hang glider in the DisneyLand fireworks... what more could we want?

Chicken Strips at Electric Umbrella!! Here's a great shot Tyson took of Matt and me on our walk over...
08DisneySurprise052.jpg

But boy, were we in for a surprise... we were in for MORE than just chicken! What was in the Pixie Dust that flew our way? :surfweb:

I can so relate to Matt when it comes to MS Orange side! One time only was all I was ever able to do. Although Brian had no problems on it! Go figure! (I'm much more prone to motion sickness than him, though. )

We saw some killer lines at SE too while there. Although the one evening, we were able to just walk on - so random.

Can't wait to hear more!

What a great report!:) I almost cried during the part when you revealed to Tyson that you were going to WDW for his birthday. I could just imagine how thrilled my boys would be.

I had to call my husband in to read the part about Carolina Crown beating the Cadets. He's a major drum corps fan. He follows the scores on the Internet and reports them to me everyday. I said, "You have to read this report. They went to the corps show in Orlando." He immediately said, "Yeah, that's when the Crown beat the Cadets!" He's totally into it. I used to be totally into to, but now I'm just somewhat into it. We were both band geeks in high school and that's how we met. I marched for one season with a corps (a little corps from CA that has been defunct for years). This was a loooong time ago (OK, it was 1980). Since then, my interest has faded. I'm like you. I just can't sit through corps after corps and be happy about. Last year, we went to Pasadena for DCI (with a trip to Disneyland first, of course). My husband wanted our 8 year old to experience a DCI and it rarely comes out to the west coast. Well, my husband was in charge of buying the tickets. We ended up sitting through quarter finals, semi-finals and finals. It was torture for me. The Rose Bowl only has a few tunnels on the ground level and then you have to walk up from there. The rows are squished. Everyone in the row has to stand up when someone comes in. By the 2nd night, I was considering sitting in the car rather than walking up to our seats one more time! I could have done with just seeing the finals. Lesson learned! We did, however, love Crown's horse-themed show. I thought the color guard was the best of the season!

Our youngest loves drum corps. so he and Daddy went to a show at Stanford Stadium in early July. I happily stayed home with our oldest. Our little guy is entering 4th grade this year and that's when they get to choose an instrument. He wants to play the drums with the ultimate goal of joining the Santa Clara Vanguard (Daddy's all-time favorite corps). Since I work for the school district, I get my summers off. Looks like I might be touring the country once again (this time as a chaperone).

Can't wait to read more of your report. And hope you enjoy being Joseph's Narrarator. We're also huge Broadway fans and have seen the show twice!:)

UGH! You are the QUEEN of the cliffhangers!:rotfl: Great Update! Gotta love "but it's Disney crowded":thumbsup2 That is a great picture of you and Matt! Great job Tyson!:goodvibes

3 great rides in the morning, i am guessing that they had run out of chicken, so they offered you some breaded beef tenders.
:rotfl:

Congratulations on pulling off the surprise. Looks like you are having a fun morning at Epcot. I am too afraid to try MS, I don't want to have motion sickness the rest of the day! But I do love Soarin'

I can't wait to find out what you had for lunch(if not the chicken strips).
And yes I do think you found a hidden mickey on the tt line. I love hidden
mickey's.
